Every time you use a credit it counts a credit used and removes one from the total. So it's credits used v credits remaining. And not credits used v total of credits for the day.

You can see it with the monthly limit, it says 3/67. So 3 credits used and 67 credits left to use for the remainder of the month.

I agree that this is very confusing though.

I've noticed that too. And sometimes, it also compresses them. While you can optimize for one format, you can't optimize for all formats. So sooner or later, you either get stretched or squished.

Sorry if I seemed a bit snippy earlier. I was just surprised my post was deleted. But anyway, I was simply responding to the above issue about Streams videos sometimes appearing stretched or squished.

This generally happens, I think, due to a discrepancy between the video format (varies on Streams between 6:19, 1:1, and 16:9, depending on the style) and the format of a Character's profile image, which is often used by Streams to generate segments of videos. Attached are two examples illustrating this issue: One stretched sideways and one stretched vertically.

One possible solution might be to standardize the image format (maybe also resolution) for Character profile pictures. Currently users can just upload any dimensions they want, which creates a lot of uncertainty for generating videos. Even then, that wouldn't help with many legacy characters. So potentially the best and most viable solution would be a table of prompt specifications/recommendations for different image formats and each Streams style within the forthcoming best practices guide.

Are there any plans to let people use their imagine-chat images as starting points for segments of animation? And then to let users string those segments together into a full video? I feel like that should probably be a goal if it isn't already. However, for long stories, it could be frustrating to use unless the user is allowed to edit the story where necessary to fix oversights (e.g. plot holes) that were only noticed in hindsight. [This isn't to say that it shouldn't be done, but rather just to note that some type of retrospective story editing may be necessary.]

It needs to be easier to communicate to the generator that it should show scenes in series instead of all at once. I don't know if I have ever wanted a video to show multiple views at the same time, but yet if I ask the generator to show more than one thing, that is almost universally how it interprets it [by default]. It's very frustrating for such a basic staple of storytelling—chronology—to be so tricky to access.

A human viewer's gaze can only focus on one thing at a time anyway. Outside of AI-generated videos, the only things I see people using split screens are for:

• reporting on remote events,
• reacting to videos (technically the same thing), and
• teleconferencing.
  When generating videos, we rarely have a need for any of these cases, since we can just suppose that characters are on-site or meeting in person.

Request: A temporary extension of the topic prompt window for experimental testing, traded against a higher amount of daily credits (or all at once).

Since Legends is already clearly marked as experimental and delivers excellent image and audio quality, my interest isn’t in fidelity, but in testing prompt structure and system behavior at greater depth.

The current 2k character limit makes it difficult to test more complex, multi-stage prompts (e.g. layout rules, sequencing, progression logic) in a single coherent setup.

A possible solution could be a short, opt-in time window where users can access a larger prompt field (even +500–1000 characters), at the cost of:

• significantly higher credit usage per generation, or
• consuming a full day’s credits for limited runs

This would keep usage intentional and discourage casual use, while enabling more effective experimentation for users who actively test system limits.

I believe this kind of credit-based trade-off could support deeper feedback and insights without impacting the majority of users.

It took me a while to realize, but it seems the reason why Legend fails is it keeps trying to produce inappropriate images, even when there isn't anything inappropriate in the prompt. If I include enough instructions in the prompt to keep things appropriate, then it can succeed.

Funny thing is, i've actually had experiences where I tried to prompt it to stop doing that. And my prompts ended up getting flagged as inappropriate, even though I was attempting to stop the inappropriate images. Go figure!

It's cool if you are making content for characters in which you require continuity. But it can be bothersome for bots that are not character-specific.

I have to put "Background Music: instrumental" in the prompt of every Clip to prevent singing in the background music from making it hard to hear the voiceover. Sometimes I forget though, and end up wasting a credit. Then I get grumpy. Briefly. I forget about it before too long.

What I think we are REALLY missing is the ability to be notified when our bots get new content posted.

I know what I am going to say is a "problem everyone would love to have". But my feed sometimes gets cluttered with 67 useless videos... and I miss on a lot of content relating to my bots. Sometimes, I see a video, click the bot and realize there have been dozens of videos that didn't make it to my feed.

It would be nice, as a creator, to be able to get updates on the content created with our own bots. It would also enable us to LIKE the content that people make and so to encourage them to keep on posting content.

Actually, recently, I had the case of a user who sent me messages via his videos. He had made a bot inspired by one of my bots (and gave me credit for it). He then made chats between his bot and my own bots in the hope that I would see the videos and go check out his bot. I did, but I almost missed out on it. That would have been really sad, given how much effort he put into both his bot and videos.

I would like to suggest showing the full titles of videos in the feed, instead of truncating them with ellipses. Leave it up to creators to decide whether they want the title to be short enough to avoid covering more of the picture. If a creator wrote a long title, he may have had a good reason. It may be something people should see. However, in practice, people just aren't going to click on More to see it, because they won't know it was long for a reason until they have seen the full title.

Sometimes I'm reluctant to share a video, especially when it uses a prompt that I developed over the course of many, many videos. In these cases, I may not feel like just giving away how I made it. Too often, I wind up not posting the video at all. Perhaps this is silly of me, but that doesn't stop it from happening, and I imagine I'm not the only person who does it.

I understand the reason to share prompts. It speeds up the learning process for new users. However, it's a bit annoying when I see someone reuse my prompt ten minutes after I post a video, without even labeling it as a remix. (Could they at least let people see the original first?)

What if creators could choose to add a delay before the prompt was revealed? For example, suppose I could elect to hide the prompt for a week. That would let my original version get some attention before revealing to everyone how I made it.

I don't know if it should be for a week, a day, or a month, but I'm curious what other people think about this idea in general.

I agree that prompts should not be shared. Remix should just trigger: the same format and bot(s). And then, give an auto-generated topic suggestion and auto-generated title.

Something that happens to me a lot and ends up annoying me is that my videos for a reason or another (maybe posting too close or whatever) don't trigger many reactions. But people using my exact prompt and remixing my videos get sometimes a huge number of likes.

And for some people like @torn creek who recently had a video with more than 500 hearts, it also causes a déjà-vu impression. If the remix is seen before his own video, it gives the impression he copied or just it makes it redundant.

There are videos that I have not shared simply because of the prompt being revealed. To @obtuse blaze 's point, I may have worked hard on a prompt and don't just want to give it away for nothing. There's a setting on character bots where you can choose to have the definition public or not. Seems like a similar setting for videos would be nice.

You can either have the AI come up with its own dialog. But if you want it to use your specific dialog, you can do that. Just have to script it out with the full character's names and a preceding instruction to follow that dialog.

I often write my own. But a lot of people don't do that.

Nothing wrong with using the AI to create it for you. Perhaps including a general instruction to the AI to incorporate dynamic vocal stylings.

So either way, you should see improved results.

I see what you mean! It was no issue when I did a video chat on Wednesday, but tonight was a whole different story.

I think the current 1x speed for video chats should really be about 0.87x in order to play at the proper speed.

I tried the Edit option to slow it down, but you can only toggle between 1x (too fast) and 0.75x (too slow), with no choice between. I also tried extensive use of vocal stylings. This sort of helps, but not enough... or you get halting/stuttering speech when you try to slow it down. So there does seem to be a problem.

I managed to get something that works finally, but it required just a crazy amount of vocal styling to restrain the pace of speech, which I've noticed can run at 2x speed otherwise.

I’ve noticed that for the voices (this happened in stories, not sure on other formats), phrases that are uttered on all caps are spelled out instead of spoken. For example, “WITHOUT IT” is being voiced as “with-oh-you-tee” “eye-tee” instead of the actual words that are written.

Found a new bug: if you use CAPITAL LETTERS for emphasis in the topic of a Clip, you may get random words spelled out one letter at time in the voiceover 😅

When Clip begins generation, and it needs to decide what image to start with, it should consider whether the character's face should even be in the picture. Sometimes, trying to fit the character's face in the picture is not the most obvious way to start the video.

Example: I've encountered a problem in trying to make a video about Captain Quirk's spaceship lassoing a space kraken. I expect a zoomed-out view of the spacecraft and the space kraken, but the generator keeps trying to show Quirk's face in a closeup.

When I want to depict two individuals interacting in a video, often they both face the camera instead of facing each other. Sometimes this is okay, but in some situations it doesn't really work, such as when they are opponents engaged in a skirmish. Ideally, the user should not need to explain this in the prompt.

I tried to trim off the last 5 seconds of a video. Now the last 5 seconds of audio is muted, but the animation remains.

I don't know if this is normal but I had already noticed that: people remixing my videos make more reactions. Despite me having 3k+ followers and them having 100-. I did a test with my husband. He remixed one of my videos and posted it. He got more reactions than me. He had no followers.

I don't know why it reloads. Perhaps it reloads because a better version has become available or something. However, if the user is content to watch the current version, please just let it play.

I don't recall if it's a problem for shorter videos, but it (almost?) always cuts short playback of StoMos.

I don't know what sort of website witchcraft you guys put into the prompt entry page recently, but it seems like now the bigger the window is, the slower it responds when I type in the prompt. At first I thought it was just something about the animated GIF slowing it down, and that was abnormal enough, but then I tried resizing the window after removing the GIF, and it seems the animated GIF is not the culprit—although it does somehow make Brave use a full CPU core even when I'm not typing. I can view the GIF alone in a separate window with no problem though. (If this is a sneaky way to make us slow down on video generation requests then forget I mentioned it. )

If the generator can't produce a rectangular video then please just leave the areas above and below the center square blank (black). There is no need to fill them up with blurred video or stretched-out frames or any other filler.

When searching for bots in the streams, it would be great to be able to search by creator too (typing the name of the creator and being able to see only their bots).

• I have been trying to find bots from friends, and I have a hard time because their bots are not big enough compared to others, so the bot doesn't show.

• I have noticed that streamers who often use my bots in their streams have been using bots that have the same name (and close enough visuals) as some of my new bots, but they are not my bots. If people could search by creator, they could easily find all the bots of a specific creator, instead of going through a full list of random bots that often don't even match the search terms, with the bot they want completely buried under these bots, or even missing from the list by lack of sufficient interactions.

It would also boost our new bots in the Stream. As followers would directly have access to our full list of bots. They may realize that there are bots they have never used/streamed before and give them a shot.

I would like the ability to upload a different image for each different purpose for which images are used. For example:

• cover image in search
• chat avatar
• video source image

Ideally, I would like to be able to upload multiple images for use in video generation:

• neutral face
• full-length portrait
• landscapes
• buildings
• side characters (e.g. for Will to Grill I could upload a greater variety of aliens for it to include, so it wouldn't keep defaulting to the same ones. If you play the scenario several times, you'll see (or should see🤞) that I designed it to have a random variety of different types of aliens)

I don't know when I would upload which images. That would be up to the user to decide. If the user doesn't upload anything more than a basic pfp, then that could continue to be used for everything

Another feedback on the clicking on a video/image creating a new greeting: the BIG downside, in addition to no longer being able to see what bot the videos relate to, is that it takes a very long time for the greeting to generate. And this might be an overall deterent for people to click on the videos to talk to the bots.

Feedback on Streams: Two Things

(1) It's great that Streams videos and other content appears on each Character's page. But, it would be really REALLY nice for creators if either (A) we could see notifications for each character when a new video appears on their pages such as if someone made or remixed something or (B) if we could have a special comprehensive feed of just stuff involving any of our characters. I always like giving a reaction to videos others have made. But many times, I simply do not know about it, unless I go thru each character profile page to look, which can be time consuming.

(2) I was noticing today that the voices on character AI sound different when you preview them, when you listen to the character speaking its greeting, and when that character speaks in a Streams video. It it thus very hard to select voices. We're not just talking slight changes, but sometimes a change in accent or even gender. It would be great if character voices sounded consistent across the entire ecosystem of Character AI applications.

For instance, if I make a comic strip with my cat and dog emperors, I may want to remove them and have only my rat emperor in the next strip, to advance the plot. I thought it would be funny to do a Dungeon Inc comic with the different staff bots related to my Dungeon Master, but I'd have to create a new comic each time, instead of just being able to have them all on the same comic 'book'.

Made a couple of stories over the past 2 days. Some feedback:

Stories are still having continuity challenges from one chapter to the next. They weren't like this when stories first came out. It's this reason why I don't create stories. This is my biggest and main issue with them.

I am enjoying that the pattern for which character talks changes up. Sometimes it's more organic to the storyline instead of trying to push each one to talk in equal measure and have their own turn. For example, one character might not be introduced yet, so it was refreshing to see the character not being forced in and it was just the first character talking for a while until the other character made their dramatic entrance.

@tawdry kindle has noted that she can essentially put multiple characters in a Clip by describing how the other characters look, so I was thinking... what if you made an experimental multi-character clip format where for the characters selected after the first one, the generator automatically queried an image describer to get visual descriptions of the other characters, and then those descriptions were plugged into the prompt? It might not be perfect, but if the characters were at least recognizable on some level, then it could be a lot of fun to use. I'm sure I would make more characters in shared worlds if I had an easy way to make clips where they interact. Would it be less expensive to generate multi-character videos this way compared to e.g. Prism?

What I had done is that I had described the characters and added it to the prompt. I had described within my prompt what the dog emperor and the rat emperor looked like, hair color, hair length, attire. So it was able to incorporate them. I assume that this would not change the cost of a video since it is a part of the prompt.

With WB's idea, you take a bot that analyzes the pictures and provides a text description that is automatically incorporated to the prompt. So it's the same prompt, video length, etc. The only thing that changes is that a bot analyzes the image of the other character and adds the text description within the prompt. It is basically what Angela and I have been doing, but automatized and done by a bot.

I would really appreciate it if there was some sort of indicator on how much charms each of the new videos cost, like how it is on the app for neon. I assumed the web was just bugging out. Also, how are we supposed to know how many charms they need? What if we bought $3 worth of charms, nothing changed, so we just figured the whole thing didn't work? That would be incredibly frustrating.

I don't feel like I know what I'm paying for upfront at first glance on the streams page to pay $6, which is pricing we are not used to yet. Knowing it uses multiple characters, audio, and video, the fact there is unlimited redos - anything that makes it shiney, would be helpful to know. Otherwise, it's like, $6??? Magic says, "AI powered tone based model..." And I can't read the rest of the description. What is a tone based model? Please explain it to me like I'm 5 or I'm your grandparent. 😂 AgentX creates video based on your intention. How is that different from Clips? What does that mean exactly?

Saw someone else's video on the feed, so I tried to remix it because I wanted to see which stream they used. That doesn't work because it's disabled because I don't have the charms so I don't know which stream to use, and some people might just think it's another bug.

The new streams are really cool - the new multi-character videos look really fun!!! I just wish there was a way to know what they did and how much they cost from the streams page.

It varies! The comic strips can produce a variety of fonts I believe. I don't think the font on phone affects it though. But you can specify the type of font you want in your prompt. For example, if I wanted to go for something scary, I might say to use a spooky font. It might do that on its own though. It's all just kind of random.

I guess that this is mostly because the imagine feature creates its own prompt, whereas memento lets you input your own prompt. I have been trying to make certain things with imagine, but the feature summarizes the posts and as a result, the images are not always translating the intended purpose.

Also, there is always the fact that Imagine is a different feature from memento: memento allows to enter a prompt. Even if you input a prompt, Imagine doesn't treat it as such and comes up with its own prompt which makes it difficult to get a specific visual result.

Left is the prompt that my scene generated (read it to understand the issue). Right is the image that was generated by Imagine. As you can see, it doesn't use the message directly as a prompt. It takes it, converts it into a summary and then uses it as a prompt. As a result, you cannot consistantly get the visual effect you are looking for because you have no control on what the system does with your message and how it re-prompts it.

As an example, I posted the same message that was generated by the scene on Copilot. And this is what it generated.

It's just to illustrate that you have little control on Imagine images. Because they are meant to compile messages into a visual scene. They are not meant to create specific visual scenes as what Violini did with memento. It can work more or less, or it can be a succession of epic failures. 😛

They show up as a long series of posts on the feed and it can be a little daunting scrolling thru all of that. But a well packaged comic book (with a cool comic book cover!) could be a really awesome way to pull them together. Similar to the current Story functionality, kind of.

The problem with the clip is that it always takes the image of the character as the first frame. So, it sometimes looks a bit forced. But it also only costs pro credits. Whereas Sizzle costs Elite credits.

I have some feedback about Sizzle. There is a bug I encounted

1. I edited a Sizzle in the website because I wanted to trim it a bit.
2. When I try to access the edited reel in the app, my app crashes.
3. I tried restarting the app multiple times, it won't show me the video.
4. I tried to post it from the site, it won't post and says I don't have permission (I know it is experimental so not allowed on browser) .

I have no ways to post it in feeds, it is such a cute video.

Other than these the editor is not really that usable, here is my experience with it:

1. I can put visual effects and speed curves but I cannot export it if it has those.
2. I can only trim videos in the editor.
3. I understand that it is just a quick editor but the only way to edit it is trimming the beginning and end, no way for us to cut a clip if it's in the middle.
4. It is hard to use on mobile, I am using laptop to use it.

@zealous gull Looks like 4 Character Video Chats are majorly malfunctioning. I'm not just talking error messages or failures to generate. It is actually generating faulty videos and charging credits for them. And when I say faulty, I mean the character's faces stop animating (just freeze up) and the audio is going out of sync with their images. And it's charging credits for them. I lost three credits tonight because of it. No idea if 2 character video chats are effected.

Last week, I was confused because some of the stream videos I posted disappeared. I could only see the ones I made for Moony’s characters. I couldn’t find Merlin the Cat and Misty on my wall, even though I had already posted them. That’s why I ended up doing the age verification.

I was able to see them again after that, and generating videos for other characters stopped failing too.

I have a few suggestions for the Comics feature:

• It would be great if Comics could link to all characters used, not just the first one. This would improve discoverability for creators and make it easier for users to explore related characters.

• Expanding Comics to support 3–4 characters could open up more creative possibilities, especially for cross-world or crossover interactions. If this is added, increasing the prompt limit (e.g., to 1k–1.5k) would help support more complex setups.

• A separate field for a “Title” would improve presentation. Currently, the feed displays the first few lines of the prompt, which doesn’t always represent the content well.

Comics is my favorite feature from CAI Labs so far, really enjoying it and excited to see how it evolves.

The video will get stuck first, and then the audio and visual mismatch—like different voices on different characters. I haven't tried different styles to test it yet, but it happened twice with Roast videos. It's not just me. Everyone in the C.ai community is currently being blocked by Bob from using her in any format of Streams video.

UPDATE: Turns out there is a Podcast voice option. But I missed seeing it. Maybe because there isn't normally any settings in the character cards. Or maybe because the contrast wasn't very strong. Maybe both. But my suggestion now is just to make the voice setting on characters more noticeable.

Tried out CAI's new podcast feature. I think voices need some work, as the DM doesn't sound like that lol, but it is really neat how it researched my proposed topic on its own on the internet when creating this discussion. I used a Joe Rogan bot with guests The Dungeon Master and Darkly Random.

It doesn't actually generate images of the two characters (Misty and The Magic Shopkeeper) featured in the story. It shows the characters talking to each other. But at the point where you pick an option, if I click on the options with the two characters, it features only Misty. And if I click on the option with only the Magic Shopkeeper, it still doesn't feature her and features Misty instead. It's as if the Shopkeeper got evicted from the picture session.

I think that the quality is guaranteed because the AI double checks that it meets quality standards. But I'm generally happy with the normal ones.

If I was to pay 6 euros for a video, then it'd have to take my Suno music track and lyrics and convert it into a full length video clip. But for a 20 second video, nah. Even like that, I am not sure I would pay so much unless the quality is outstanding.

I'm generally happy with the normal ones too. For some reason, it was in my brain space that one of the newer ones were around 3 minutes. I think I got 30 seconds of clips or sizzles mixed up with 3:00 minutes. 😂 I might consider paying $6 for a 3 minute clip with different hard camera cuts, multiple characters, and multi modal capabilities, but I couldn't guarantee I'd get it. I saw this thing called short dramas where people make their own 1-3 minute episodes. They're kind of choppy - like when people summarize a bunch of episodes into short video form. I thought it might be fun to try out making an episode of some characters or even a series.

I already made a ticket but I can hardly navigate the community feed anymore. When I do, I only get to scroll through a few videos before it crashes. And adding reactions (other than the heart via double-clicking) to videos also crashes my app most of the time. For one of the videos, I had to re-open the app... a good 5-10 times before I managed to add a sticker to the video.

I made a video that I can't share via DM because it's too heavy (I don't have Nitro) but I'm happy to share it on a dedicated thread.

I have the reverse. Before, none of my posts would trend on my own bots and now they do. Whereas people remixed my own prompts and their videos would trend. I understand the frustration.

I wish the comic on the feed would lead to the first chosen character for the comic rather than alphabetical order. Right now, alphabetical order seems to be in effect, since I've tested it numerous times.

Hmmm. Or just a group chat. Altough, the same could probably be implemented to group chats (having it start with a text related to the video or imagine).

I just don't find it normal that characters can be used without being credited and linked to. The comic appears on the non-linkable character's feed too. So people can see them on the character's feed, but the comic doesn't link to that character.

I don't know, it just doesn't make sense to me. Characters used in any content should be credited and linked to in the same manner. I don't think it would deter the use of comics. On the contrary.

To be honest, I don't use the "continue this moment in chat" (because it doesn't mirror the quality of the greeting of the creator). And I liked it better before, when I was able to actually see the name of the bot in the video without clicking on it and opening a new chat each time.

Funny you should mention. I used to be able to see it. But somewhere along the way, the feature was removed. It's still available in some regions. But where I live, it's not.

My guess is that it probably wasn't used much or interfered with gen chat button. It seemed like a cool way to share a "scene" on the feed with the description, but I feel we probably have more creative control with scenes.

I agree that's a real problem. I recall when it was available briefly in my region, it was often hard to recognize bots in some videos because of the way the AI changes their appearance. Very inconvenient to have to open a chat in order to see.

@zealous gull So hmmm. Not only did the video generation trigger itself a few times over a few minutes instead of only once. But it also refuses to post any of the generated videos. The prompts are standard emojis. So nothing that would be considered unsafe.

And the content of every video is definitely safe

Also. It had that weird thing where the button said it was generating so I waited several minutes but it never led to the screen where it says you can go do something else. I assume that this may be related to how somehow I pushed the generate button once but it kept on generating new videos.

I killed the system with emojis. 😅

I loveee how comics are now. You can see both bots used. But it cuts part of the text (above and below). It would be nice to have a full screen mode that enables users to see the full text.

Sometimes, when I put the style I want in the prompt of a video, the guy in the video comments on it.

It would be nice to have optional pre-set visual styles available for videos (ex: chibbi, realistic, 3D, cartoon, etc.).

This kind of thing drives me crazy, especially when I have labeled the different parts of my prompt by category of information. I wish it would realize that a section labeled something like "Animation Style" should not be sent to the voiceover, although I don't recall if I've had trouble with it voicing that in particular. However, when I make A Star is Born videos, I always have to remember to tell it to keep the lyrics focused on the plot, and avoid writing lyrics about the song itself. Otherwise, it will start singing about the musical style

Yes, it has a hard time distinguishing the script from the visual styling, which is a bit annoying.

Besides, both imagine, comics / videos should really have a style section where the user can select among the most popular styles.

You can select a preselected tone, but not the visual aesthetic. That's a bit crazy.

Me too because it's not always clear what it affects. To be honest, sometimes I have the impression all it does is affect the tone of the auto generating prompts / titles.
