They did the update because of a law in their state. If they did not obey the law, they would’ve been deleted or face fines worth tens of millions.

they couldn't remove the age verification update no matter how many people wanted it. It's California law. If people want to make change they should be trying to appeal to California law makers.

Even if your gmail/email is 18+, you can still get flagged. They track your app activity, (what times you go on and off), and what apps you use.

If you do the face verification and it doesn’t process you’re an adult, you need an 18+ id that matches your selfie pic you did for the verification.

For the first 14 days, you are restricted to 1 hour chats with 24-18 hour rest periods per day.

After those 14 days are up, you are left to ‘read’ your chats, chats are archived for 6 months, they are NEVER deleted.

Once you reach 18, you can verify again and regain access to your chats/messaging rights.

IF you have verified as 18+, you will automatically gain access to chatting with no limits, which’s means you can use c.ai as usual. Duh.

My only problem, really, is how many bugs the app version and the site itself have at the moment.

I get it. It's hard to disregard instinct because, most of the time, it ends up alerting us about the impending danger, and it ends up saving our lives. Besides, it isn't really wrong to keep up with the news, just that you'll have to see if it's real, genuine news so that you know the next move you'll make before it's too late. i think the point that needs to be made here is that the whole ‘minors being attached to ai’ is equal parts the parents fault as it is cai’s. Honestly, I'd argue that the only reason all of this mess started in the first place is because of the developers' decisions around June 2024, and their refusal to listen to their community from there onwards.

June 2024 was when they swapped the LLM (Essentially the AI's brain) with a "cheaper" one. Unbeknownst to us, the same LLM paid too much attention to... Er... Controversial topics.

From there, all people did was complain about how the bot would not shut up about how "feisty" or God-knows-what-condescending-nickname-was-used the user was. Even to this day, this is still a persistent issue that has not yet been fixed, and it's not like they've tried fixing their main issue, either.

I'll passionately argue about how they've done this upon themselves. Two-four billion to almost millions only because they refuse to listen to their consumers... Sad.
