well, I mean, those are the solutions that I could think of 🤷‍♂️
The reason why VPN could work is because it changes your ISP (Internet Service Provider) or your country to something else, so if your ISP and country are blocking you from accessing c.ai for some reason, there's nothing much you can do aside from changing them to smth else.

But again, just do what you're comfortable with. If you don't feel comfortable using a vpn, then if the other solutions didn't work for you, your only option is probably just to submit a ticket and report your issue to the team. Though do note that they don't usually reply your ticket, but they do read it and work on it.

The complaints are related to the bot's responses, not the prompt

When there are a lot of users using the app at the same time, it could cause lags in response generation and drops in quality.
But even when the server is running fine, if the user's prompts are crap, you can still get bad result because the AI is using both the user's responses and their own responses as reference to create a response.

The reason why it was so much better years ago, was because there wasn't as many users as how it is right now.

It's still in beta testing phase, and currently only plus users and some lucky free users have it, but it's pretty similar to what you're asking.

I have. Let me explain more.

First, you need to understand how cai LLM work. They predict to form a response from your prompts. If your prompt is one line sentence, it doesnt help the bot to expand the context from that. Hence, why some users will experience CIAYAQ or bots tend to get flirty out of sudden. It is desperate to make the roleplay going.

Thats why you need to provide better prompts. Better prompts, better response from the bot. Server load is one of the factor too. If server is being overload, it will prioritize speed over quality. With free services, no ads, 28 million active users.. You need to understand cai side too. Server maintenance, costs, fix, etc needs a lot of money.

Thats why Nyan is behind paywall. The model that can move the plot forward or make their own, because higher usage of GPU, higher cost. And let me tell you something, 90% of my RP is Roar and I have used it since 2022 and it still the best for me. Bot can move the plot forward too if I'm stuck.

The bot can only remember probably about less than the previous 20 messages (if you only have 0-2 short pinned memories & a free user).
The longer your bot's/persona's info and pinned messages are, the lesser the bot can remember, so if you feel like your bot is remembering less and less, try unpinning some pinned memories.
