1. Consider whether your issue is something mods can actually help you with, or if you should instead submit a request at https://support.character.ai/hc/en-us/requests/new
2. If you want anyone from c.ai to help you with something right now, make sure you ask nicely and give a very complete description of the issue, including all pertinent details, so that they won't have to ask you any followup questions, since they may not be able to. Do it all in one big (polite!) message, so they won't have to try to piece together clues like a detective. I suggest you write your message in notepad or something first, and then copy it over.
3. If you decide you need help from a mod, I suggest you send a DM. Again, limit yourself to one message with all the pertinent details. Don't bother them after that! They may be busy, or just unable to help.

This happens when you put your account’s age for under 18. Character ai divided the platform between under 18 and over 18, so under 18s can’t edit and have stricter stuff

Every once in a great while yes they do. I think AI just makes small errors like that now and then because nothing is perfect. I always make sure to edit it back to the correct gender because sometimes if you leave a detail it seems like the bot will run with it for the rest of time unless you go back to the message that started it all and get rid of the typo.

I find that Character.ai seemingly is too restrictive. I compared it with OpenAI's GPT-4o and even for academic based stuff (like you'd find in history class), Character.ai is unable to do them.

Did an experiment where I asked ChatGPT this prompt: "Write an essay about the impact that the holocaust had on jewish communities, and how it has impacted modern day geopolitics." To basically have a baseline. ChatGPT 4o (The model I used) was capable of answering it with detail, and without saying anything insane. I asked the history bot on Character.ai the same thing. Instant Censor on C.ai

Another one I did from curiosity, was that I asked both a question regarding JTAC as an experiment. ChatGPT could answer it, C.ai could not. I find that to be odd.

Yes I’m serious, that’s why I’m nagging. Usually it’s fine, maybe just a message or two that’s fucked. But as it is right now, something is seriously wrecked. I’ve tried three different characters (one is mine) and they all behave just as bad.

As if they have completely thrown out all ai process and restarted or something.

Also, usually I have to maybe refresh a reply once or twice to get one I really like - sometimes not at all because the first reply is perfect!

Now? I’ll have to ask for five up to TEN different refreshed answers from the characters, with inputs and 1 starts trying to steer the character right. Even then it doesn’t work satisfyingly.

Also ALSO, I’ve never had the issue with “can I ask you a question” before. I got the meme because yeah it happened now and again.

Now? It appears ALL the time! And I can never actually use any of the responses because I KNOW the character will continue in an endless loop that pisses me off.

Bottom line: Something has changed and now it’s not fun to use char.ai and I hope they fix it soon.

The model refers to the LLM (large language model). It's a statistical model that can be used to fill in a blank in a document. For the application in question, the blank is always the next word that hasn't been written yet. c.ai will have 2 different models: one for adults, and one for younger users. It will do that if you let it happen. If a bot starts to say the same term a lot, it will continue to do so if you let it. That's how bots work. You letting a reply slide is telling the bot to continue doing what it's doing.
