Behavior issues can mostly be traced back to those exact things

A lot of it also depends on the way the AI is trained, that’s why those stars are there, it trains the specific character bot to how it should act, so a lot of people could possibly be messing with that and it could somehow be messing some bots up. I reccomend making use of the edit message option if there’s a lot of issues with the responses.

However the ratings will be observed for further model adjustments if those ever happens, but not with individual bots.

Eitherway, making use of the edit response option is likely a good way to fix these issues, plus AI isn’t perfect anyways, I find that if I tend to use more action than dialouge the AI does the same unless it’s a full conversation with two characters. So far I don’t have much issue with repeating stuff unless I refuse to type more and just let the bot generate another response after it’s first one since it then doesn’t have much to go off on.

Your best bet is to not feel like you HAVE to make something. Even if you're out of ideas and can't think of anything. Create characters when you feel like you're impassioned to do so. We're not getting paid for this, it's all for fun. The worst thing you can do is spoil that fun by having it feel like a job.

Maybe add a background to the chat based on what the situation is and what you are talking about. For example, if you are getting out of bed with the character, there could be a picture of a clean bedroom in the morning.

It could also switch to very similar pictures to that pictures to change the environment slightly instead of a picture the entire time.

I have a problem with my bot, where it all of a sudden starts making nonsensical, out of context, unintelligible responses. To the point where the sentences don't make sense at all. And the weirdest thing is - I tried to use the app, thinking it would change anything, but instead found out that during the calls it responses perfectly fine like it used to.

2. If it's not a character you made, consider editing the responses. This is a temporarry solution however, but it's the most you can do.
   Bots are spewing gibberish and nonsensical things?
3. Consider starting a new chat, there may be rare bugs happening with the one you're in.
4. Editing the responses may also help a lot (same with the above).
5. If the bot is yours, consider checking the definitions. Sometimes, symbols like ><[]{}() can also affect the responses (although very unlikely to mess everything up).

Majority of bots on C.AI have little to nothing in their defs which is the culprit for inconsistency in response quality

This is very interesting... y'all seem to be experiencing the exact same sorts of glitches I was with my bots a few weeks back. I think the devs tripped over a cable in the back end and caused some bugs in the model that are rippling out and afflicting users at random

But the good news is, it sorted itself out for me, so just give it some time and things should go back to normal

It’s not.
It’s been reported since last year, most if not every single time it’s because of a lackluster definitions than problems with the model.
A decently written definitions will mitigate a ton of those issues.

For example i was just in a chat about fantasy adventure (rpg) and that kind of stuff and the bot that's supposed to be narrating is DRY, like really dry.

Some possible insights into the "missing bots/rooms" problem. It might've been discussed already but feel free to forward any missed points or whatever.

If one right-clicks a previously-unvisited chatbot on the Search page, clicks "copy link address" (or non-chrome equivalent), pastes the URL into the address bar, and removes the "2" from "chat2" before hitting Enter (https://old.character.ai/chat?char=[CHARACTER-ID]&source=search), they can open a first chat with the bot in the oldest possible format.
(Semi-related: on an old-format history, replacing the text after "&hist=" with any random/invalid text will also create a new (valid & saved) history, also in the old beta format.)

Characters with "chat1" histories get to keep those histories when revisited. They just take a few extra steps to re-open, since https://old.character.ai/chats only contains "chat2" links. (Previously, if a bot's most-recently-visited history was in the "chat1" format, that bot would show up in /chats as a "chat1" link.)
However, characters with ONLY "chat1" histories will NOT show up in the list on the /chats page, for whatever reason.

The "Rooms" feature operates on the old "chat1" format exclusively, which would explain their current unlisted-ness.
Therefore, fixing/re-enabling "chat1" cataloguing for the old site's /chats page will likely also fix the "missing rooms" problem.

Download an extension called c.ai tools, go to your chat, wait for the chat to load (i have a year old chat with just about 20,000 messages and it took 20ish minutes), then export it to "tavern chat"

it's also generally a good idea to keep offline backups of your chats

highly depends on what type of chat it is, and what model you use. command r is free with an api key and i found it works pretty good for chat rp so far

sillytavern is a lot more complicated to use though and you need to put more effort in the character definition and descriptions unlike c.ai

and usually it doesn't have existing lore info about a particular character if you use smaller models
