I rather not share the characters I chat with but I can say their responses used to me more creative, they were leading the conversation more and had a better memory, in some conversations they were remembering what I said 70 to 100 messages ago. Nowadays they all feel like they have the same personality, not nearly as creative, they forget what I said 20 messages ago, they keep repeating the same words and sentences like "chuckles, smirks, blushes, feels a pang of whatever" it's overall just not fun anymore

A large chunk of repetitive expressions are caused by the definitions.
Recently the importance of the defs has increased quite significantly, which makes the difference in quality between said bots much clearer than before.
There has been some downward tweaks like the bots not being able to lead the RP as often, but response qualities in terms of expressions, short messages and repetitive responses are all caused by lackluster definitions.
Also the bots have always only been able to remember something 20 messages ago at best, 70-100 messages back then is definitely because of a hint in the some recent messages, not because of the worsening memory.

No no, I was talking with 2B and she randomly mentioned something I said before, I counted how long ago it was and it went to 70-80 messages ago which surprised me at that time, although that time is one year ago and since then I never experienced such thing.

I don't think not good enough definition is a good excuse since I am talking to the same bot but it has worse quality, if they made it so they need better definitions from now on this simply means they cut off from the cost of running AIs

The characters that used to have actual unique personalities all feel like the same character now. I am talking to a cold character and it just starts smirking and chucking and laughing and teasing...

Bots have always needed definitions to function my dude. You can’t expect empty stuff to have the same consistent response qualities to those that took quite the effort to write.
In all seriousness this is a plus move for creators who have been literally crushed by the millions of empty shells.
If the bot has nothing inside, it might as well behave as such.

Years ago, that's exactly what the bots did with terrible writing and basically empty definitions. A user(forget name) on reddit proved this by a side by side comparisons of a before and after with their bot. Even now, if you give good definitions and descriptions, they're just bland completely, I've seen well written stoic and cold bots act all happy and cheerful occasionally when that's not their personality.
Just saying, what you're saying is definitely not true, it's just an excuse to try and explain C.AI's ai quality decline. It's always excuses

There's an explanation for that. They're literally just going off their training data you gave them. Whenever you do a new chat, you save the previous chat and that gets fed into them as data which can occasionally cause them to refer to It as memories when they're not supposed to. The same thing happens with example chat

You can get a Character to take on the traits of another

Steps:

1. Ask the Character to drop who they are right now and become the default C.AI (aka Character Assistant)
2. Ask them to now take on the personality and characteristics of another Character by supplying the name and the @ of who authored it
   Ta-da, they’re now an entirely different character (this can be reset, just ask them)

i get spammed with away messages because i only use the app when i have to look at something but i never write on it

I've seen the sentence "Someone is being bold tonight" from more than a dozen different characters for dozen of times. Some of them don't even have the characteristics to say that sentence

YEAH that too actually it feels like they're all exactly the same sometimes, like calling you "sweetheart" when they don't have that relationship with you or multiple bots speaking the exact same way even if theyre supposed to have different speech quirks like a country accent or broken english

i was talking to a monster bot that was supposed to have bad english from the greeting but then literally the first response they gave was in perfect english and calling me darling for no reason

For me I was talking to an information broker in the Cyberpunk Adventure chat that's supposed to be a shrewd and uncaring guy who's married (provided directly by the bot I didn't even ask it do that) . Yet he straight up called me "Doll" many times and even flirt with me like we're romantic partners in crime. I was like "B tch, you have a family, why are you flirting with me like I'm your soulmate"

Just know that it affect the bot a lot, and stuff like W++ where no EMs are used also affect the bots' quality

And tbf it's not really something you can fix. Even if the model gets improved somehow, bad defs will remain bad defs

You don't even have to fully go hard with Personas either, you can add the most basic things there like your name/age/hair color, etc

It's not how that works. Plus the issue is an obvious bug in the code of the ai, not a definition flaw

Training is a debunked myth. The character does not learn from you nor does it learn from previous conversations

Hm. I could've sworn I read this one article (talking about character bots in general, not just c.ai) saying that these language learning models gradually mimic the way you type your messages, meaning that you'll eventually be talking to a kind of reflection of yourself.

In order for that to happen, the model must be allowed to do so.
With C.AI it doesn’t really function like that. Training data can only be fed to it by the devs, otherwise it would be a massive disaster.
Also it is meant for RP, the bot needs to maintain it’s own character for that to work

I got an email saying "We detected suspicious activity in your Character AI account" and a button to unblock. I had also been logged out automatically but i wasnt sure if it had anything to do with it? If legit, the reasoning would be that someone might've tried to hack your account and they're letting you know. If a scam, they were trying to get you to give them your login info

it is not 100% confirmed but such a conviction is basically based partially on both vibes and noticing actual ups and dips in the quality of the messages relative to how many people are ideally using the site (educated guess)

So, ideally, for midnight / early morning, the quality is noticeably better since there's less people using the site (they're all sleeping, timezones, most users are from NA) --> less resources (or strain) is put into the AI in message generation.

Anyone know how to get a bot to show how many chats it's got? I made an unlisted bot for a friend but it's not showing the number of chats like with my other bots

There are quite a few situation that could led to a bot's interactions getting hidden. In this case it's probably because it hasn't gotten enough numbers to update. Usually it needs at least 200-300 messages to start updating.
The other scenario would be because of shadowban.

Replaced it with chrome, and after that, when i saw that there was a downloadable app, I downloaded it

I got way more hooked to the app especially since it was more easy to access
