"Tho" = though (informal)

There isn’t a single rule for double letters in English.
A tip I can give you is to repeat the word out loud, most of the time you can feel if it has a double letter or not.
Then practice, the more you read and type, the easier it becomes to remember. After a while, it "becomes" automatic

Talking with native English speakers is also really good for improving your English.
I pretty much learned it when I was around 11 by talking with English players in games.

If you don’t have native friends who speak English good, get a book (or anything) and read it out loud.
Reading out loud is better than reading in your head, because you get a feeling for the words and it helps you understand and remember double letters better

You also can't really know if a word has double letters.
My general rule of thumb though is that if it uses a sound different from default pronunciation or the "uh" sound, check if uses double letters or a contraction.
All letters generally have two default sounds, always including the "uh" sound, so if you get a sound outside of those, it might be time to check the word.

English has a bad case of "Historical spelling" too, which means that our writing system hasn't been changed for a long time.

Usually games, watch old english movies (start with pride and prejudice, you'll learn a lot of vocabularies there).

Study how a sentence works first then pronounce each sample sentences then move on with how terminologies or vocabularies works.

If english is your second language, it won't be hard for you if saying "i love you" is easy already.

You can alwo practice verbal English by yourself by actually talking to yourself infront of a mirror, or have a conversation with a video and pretend you're talking to it. Sometimes even singing English songs helps

One thing I can recommend is playing games, watching movies, reading books and specifically read every text carefully it can make it engaging to story and passively improve your grammar

I remember when I first started learning English I did the same methods as Killer just said. It helped improve my grammar a lot. Still struggle with it because I'm dyslexic but that's beside the point here.

I began writing small stories in English to help improve with my grammar (No longer than maybe half a page), then I had a dear friend, who would check it for me regarding grammar and tell me how to remember grammar rules.

However, roleplaying online can actually help improve your grammar also! It can be intimidating at first, but with the right kind of network people are really sweet to help you with your grammar if you ask for help ^^
