Oh thanks buddy :D
Np 🤓
Gng I'm so dumb at English 💔
Dang
What is the difference between affect and effect? I always get confused
affect is a verb to "to influence," while effect is used as a noun meaning "the result."
Example:
The effects of a healthy diet are good for the body
The earthquake affected many houses
Why can't it be
The earthquake effected many houses
"effect" is commonly used as a noun rather than a verb on its own, and "affect" can be understood as the verb counterpart of "effect"
yeah the meaning of the word affected is like "created an effect in some way" but if u used "effected" it wouldnt make sense to me, plus using the word "affected" suits more.

what is Hyperfixations
Ban this guy /j
Like something you are obsessed with to the point you talk about it A LOT
adding on to this as someone with audhd, a hyperfixation isn’t just that! it’s a term used specifically by neurodivergent people (neurodivergence is when someone’s brain is wired differently, this term mostly used to refer to adhd and autism) fixate on something. we latch onto it and literally CANNOT think about anything else. sometimes it’s so intense it hurts to stop thinking about said hyperfixation. for example, my current fixation is library of ruina. i can think of nothing but it. sometimes i forget to take care of myself (bathing, eating) because i am obsessed with engaging with content that adheres to library of ruina. everything ties back to it in some way.
the textbook definition for neurodivergent is “those who process information differently than neurotypical individuals.” people with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism spectrum disorder (ASD), dyslexia, anxiety, depression, and other conditions may fall under the umbrella of neurodivergence.
hyperfixations can fade out for certain topics and switch to different things, mostly pieces of media or oddly specific things. this is a different term from hyperfocusing (a brief, intense period of focus on a task or activity) and special interests (a long-lasting obsession that isn’t as impermanent as a hyperfixation).
this term is often watered down by neurotypical (people without a condition that alters the way they see the world) people when they are obsessed (interested quite a bit in something but can still tear themselves away from said thing) with something!
neurodivergent things arent an easy thing to explain but i hope i did okay ^_^
sorry for the mild text wall i;m severely autistic lol
YO YOU LIKE LIBRARY OF RUINA TOO?
I LOVE RUINA.
I LOVE PROJECT MOON I LOVE ALL THINGS RELATED TO IT ONE OF MY NAMES IS LITERALLY YAN

Old English
Goldfish actually have a much better memory than the popular saying suggests. While it's commonly believed they only remember things for a few seconds, research shows they can retain memories for weeks, months, and even years. This includes remembering where they are fed, how to navigate mazes, and even recognizing individuals.
Here's why the "three-second memory" myth persists and what research reveals:
Myth Debunked:
Studies have shown goldfish can be trained to associate sounds or lever presses with food, and they will remember these associations for extended periods.
Long-Term Memory:
Goldfish have demonstrated the ability to recall learned behaviors and spatial information for months, even after periods of disuse.
Cognitive Abilities:
Goldfish have shown the capacity to learn complex tasks, such as navigating mazes and estimating distances.
Why the Myth?:
Some researchers speculate the myth may stem from goldfish behavior in tanks, where they may appear to swim around aimlessly, but this is likely due to their environment, not a lack of memory, according to science sites.
English, "Dorito" refers to a brand of flavored tortilla chips, but its name has Spanish origins. It's likely a combination of the Spanish word "oro" (gold) and the diminutive suffix "-ito," potentially with a "D" added for stylistic reasons. The name is often interpreted to mean "little golden things," reflecting the color of the chips when they are fried.
if you are flying your boat in the desert and get a flat tire , you should get out of the water and open your pockets for blue because bones doesn't have ice cream
thank u! im doig my best, hyperfixations are really difficult to explain in terms that everyone will understand LOLLL

Guys what does 'GNG' mean
It means gang, like friends
OH TYY
can someone help me with my problem? my interaction on bots stuck with 0 and the 3 dots keeps appearing (loading)
I was wondering what that means bruh, so random finding it here
Me no speak english
Do you need help w something or? :3
Nah i'm good thanks :3
What do u speak then??
English XD, i was just joking around
Oh haha thats what i was thinking!!
Whats 'au' means? Im often seeing ppl using this word under their bots on cai (example: human au)
Alternate universe
So if its different then what happened in canon if that makes sense :3
Hwi is þis frigning?
Waht?
tiss old english
Yes. Smth with thou, thee, thine, hither, tither, etc.
U know how to speak like taht?
yes
i und'rstand
The coxcomb brim wast wide and too droopy. Doth yond with a wooden sticketh
Ty!
It's "gang"
Thou means you
-# e.g: thou dances beautifully
Thee is you, but as an object (or just an ‘object’ as a whole)
-# How is thee, give thee to me
Thy/thine is more possessive
-# Those apples are thine, I saw thy car rolling away
Hither means here
-# Come Hither, it’s home time!
I can dm you a link to this translation website I found on Pinterest if you want

AU stands for alternative/ alternate universe!
Such as, if I have a story about 3 kids who ghost hunt, i could make an AU where instead of being humans, they’re mermaids that hunt for ghosts underwater or, plot twist, I make one where they’re ghosts hunting other ghosts or hunting humans!
The best comparison is think about Miku or spiderman, different dimensions or storylines but it’s always the same character and same type of thing going on😋😋
-# so a “hybrid au” like a lot of bots have, just mean that instead of being whatever species they normally are, they’re hybrids! Or mermaids or knights or whatever the au is
Tysm!
“Istg” means I swear to god!!
For example, if they said “my brother is so loud, I swear to god!!” It’s basically just like saying “my brother is so loud, oh my god it’s so annoying!!”
Guyzs what means clock it, I hear it everywhere but I'm embarrassed to say that idk what that means 🙏🙏
Clock it is like- it’s hard to explain but I see it as someone being caught out through confrontation,
-# Idk how to explain so we get an example/story time
-# I used to have a friend and she would always say “oh I care so much about mental health, I understand it so much!!! I struggle with it!” But when one of our other friends said how they were feeling, she said “ew”. And so in response, another person confronted her and said “how can you brag about caring for mental health when you make fun of people for expressing their struggle??”
It’s like how when you’re doing a test, you’ll think over what the answer to be, and then your brain clocks what it is!!
Ur a saviour fr🙏
Thank you thank you

Ngl I had to search up what it meant a few days ago too so you’re not alone with that
Welcome to the English test!
This is a test if you learned something.
Q1: Fill in the blanks.
The dog ran ____ from home.
Fill the answer.
The cat slept __ the mat.
If you did a correct answer, say "I did it!"
No way! _ solved a cube!
Thank you for playing in the test, this is an English test to teach you some words.
"hither" rip for fast readers 💀🙏
it's only 1 single letter away from becoming something else entirely omg💔
Oh God. I was staring at that like for 5 minutes and then realized you said "hither"
Yeah I learnt that name for 3 seconds 💀🙏
Hi everyone how are you doing?
Today I have an English test omg I feel a little nervous :"v
I forgot when I can use "passive voice" xd
It’s ok you’ve got this and you’ll do great, all I’m going to say is make sure you reread it after to check for anything you might’ve missed like a comma so it definitely makes sense!!
Well you're right
My score usually is great, like 35/50 or more (40/50, 45/50) ... and I don't study anything XD
Maybe today my brain will remember a lot of things and maybe my score will be... 38? I don't know...
As Rouxls Kaard, I can confirm Thou means you
Thank you very much Rouxls Kaard
No problem
Tyy
This exactly how I speak
I keep seeing like shortenings of phrases and I DON'T understand, like some people talk "Isi shvxajk swbr ams wkal", do people who speak english as their first language also have this problem or...?
hi
No it’s choose day
froday
What is sarcasm or pr*paganda
how do i speak
Jose Mari Chan??
Sarcasm is basically saying something but you don’t mean it, or it isn’t true
It’s usually pared with a specific tone of voice
So like “yeah, I definitely had a nice day”
With sarcasm, would mean that I didn’t have a nice day, and I’m being a bit cocky about it too
Omg, tyy
Fly day🥹 (it's a reference that prob nobody will get😔)
Fly (the animal) is an insect, and fly (the verb) is an action where something goes off of the ground, or, flies
What about snicker(s)?
If you mean both snickers (the noun) and snickers (the verb) then snickers (the noun) refers to a brand of chocolate, and the verb is similar to laughing but quieter (i am still not sure on the exact definition of the noun)
Laughing??? Ohhh now you make me remember something.
What are the differences between chuckle, grin, snicker, and ||snigger|| (that last one apparently a real word 😭)?
I honestly don't know the differences.. I just use them when I use another too much lmao, you can really use any of them and it wont make too much of a difference imo
Soooo basically it's… laugh? Some quiet and some loud????
Chuckle is like a mean or hard quick laugh, grin is a smile that's supposed to be mean, snicker is almost like a snort, it's supposed to be like making fun of someone or teasing, the last one I'm not sure (also you can search up on YouTube how a chuckle and snicker sound like and use Google images for how a grin looks like)
To put it simply yeah, some are better suited for other situations than another
Uhhhhh okay…?
Like "mean" as if bad or hard or "meaning of word"?
(Sorry 😔)
Mean as in bad and hard as in a deep voice kinda ykyk (don't apologize!!! It's completely fine!!!!)
Ohhhh…
Like… bully?????
Yup pretty much
But a chuckle could also be used by characters that don't often laugh or aren't happy as it makes them looks cool and Shiz
Mkay
But fr, how can you "Chuckles quietly."??? Like… dude, do the character laughs internally?
At that point it's pretty quiet considering a chuckle is already pretty soft
yeah i'd say so
How do y'all get the small text in discord?
Hi
I speak english since a long time and I still can't tell what's the difference between a smile and a grin... I've tried to translate it to see if it's a synonym and nothing
He smile and the other grin
ih
A smile is for example “he was given a present and smiled” whereas grin would be “he grinned at the joke although he wasn’t meant to”
THANK YOU
Cheese
Chuckle is a low laugh, usually quiet and soft
Grin is a smile, but wider, often showing teeth
Snicker is a like chuckle but a bit louder and often mocking
Snigger is literally like snicker
Thanks c.ai for learning me this (I'm french in case you didn't know)

guys whats propaganda
Propaganda is the spread of biased or selective information—including facts, rumors, or outright lies—to influence public opinion and manipulate people's beliefs to support a particular cause or viewpoint
ohh got it, thank you
Usually your vocal cords vibrates so maybe doing a voiceless chuckle? Like when you make an h sound
Some common British phrases or regionalisms?
Damn, hello y'all.
Realistically, you can chuckle quietly. What gets me is when they’re laughing/chuckling/whatever else silently. That defies the whole point of it.
Is there someone who speaks German (╥﹏╥)
You can get the German role from #👥︱self-roles

Hii! What do you need help with?
hi im solace i was just sad because nobody was greeting me
Oh! Hii Solace!! Then :D
Hi! Em dashes are this type of dash "—" It's used as a pause mostly or a way to skip some part of sentence. I'll give you examples from my CharAI bots;
It was one of these days — socializing.
It was Ness — just not the one you expected.
Or you can use it in dialogue as well. :D

Ok what does "pl" mean? And no, it's not as in "poland", the bot i selected wasn't in polish
em dashes can basically be used as a comma, aka a segway into a related but at the same time not entirely connected topic
for example: "People have emotions--and thus they are not entirely logical." (i used two en dashes as an em dash btw)
searched it up and the only logical answer i got would be "plural" but im not sure if that's correct
Thx
oats are just food and imo means in my opinion
Uhhhh, people use oat in sentences, im pretty sure it's not a food
I've personally never heard oat being used in a conversation before but try looking it up on google i have no idea
I saw it in those 'top 10 personal hottakes' videos xd i think it means 'on atual times', but yh i'll try googling it
By google, it means Of all time
ohhh
okay, makes sense
you learn something new everyday i suppose
I guess
Yo btw, after "doesn't" should i use has or have
have
ty again, ur a cool guy
np bro
it means “of all time”!
for eg! if i say “forrest gump is the best movie oat”
it means: “forrest gump is the best movie of all time”

Tysm 🙏🙏🙏
what does velvet mean
i get it all the time
Velvet usually means a clothing and upholstery fabric (as of silk, rayon, or wool) characterized by a short soft dense warp pile. But it could also be used to describe someone who is soft/smooth or kind.
ohh thhanks
Np
What is the meaning of clumsy and clingy?
Clumsy is when you accidentally don't pay attention to things and often make little accident like dropping a glass, bumping into something
Clingy is when you often want attention ect from others or a specific person
For exemple your dog can be very clingy to you. Always wanting to be with you, wanting pets ect
you mess up a lot and touch things a lot
It’s ok, sometimes i speak in portuguese with my American friends hehehe
I constantly speak french and my other languages multiple times a day

There should be a space because it’s two different words!!😋

For speech writing is it better to use periods or commas if I want to accentuate pauses? I know it isnt that gramatically correct to use periods that much instead of commas in regular paragraphs (Source, my English teacher) but what about speech?
by speech I mean dialogue in writing
Thanks, its just although for old money people
Why am I here. I know English guys
If I understand you correctly, you want to use elipses (…) or em dashes (—) to signify pauses in speech.
You can also say, “[Insert character’s name or pronoun of choice] [“pause” in tense you are writing in].”
Ie. “She paused,” “I pause,” or “He pauses.”
I'd mostly say I use dashes already. Kind of like "Um-.." and I use this type of thing consistently.
rn I was more focused on whether or not using periods too much would be gramatically incorrect.
Kind of like "This. Is. Not. Over."
Oh! I figure you’d still use em dashes because they’re still pauses. Periods like that are considered incorrect because your “sentence” isn’t correct. In this scenario, however, people don’t really notice, because periods signify a pause, especially in casual writing.
If you want to be gramatically correct, use your em dashes or elipses. If you want to stay casual, use your periods.
alr thanks bud 🙏 much appreciated thanks for the help
You’re welcome, good luck writing! 🙏
y'all do we write "hairtie" or "hair tie"? like is there a space between hair and tie
Hair tie*
Everyone tell me, Have any of you heard of the word grove?
hi is "snitching" a word
snitching is a word, yes!!
also yes 🙂↕️
Ok
It’s just I’ve only heard it in street names before
And I found out it actually is also used for a small pack of trees
yup! but i guess it does appear in certain street names as well
Yeah
Nope lol
It’s a word used for a small pack of trees
hi is "snitching" a word
Yes
Yes its is a real word in english vocabulary it means to steal something or to inform someone of something like snitching on your friend when they steals candy meaning you let others know when they stole the candy as in inform them to others (sorry my english sucks)
what does social battery means??
social battery commonly refers to a person's ability to spend time with others. when your social battery is low, you cannot/don't want to spend time with others, causing you to recharge at home. vice versa for when you have full social battery.
Ohh alright tysm :D
guys, how do you use semicolons correctly ? 🥹
the "steal something" is snatching btw, not snitching
why do you add so many spaces
Punctual marks in English are deep space for me in general. For example, Idk how to use commas correctly, like, it’s more about “I just feel like it”. Also, I often unconsciously use them the same way I’d use them in my native language (like you know this typical thing like “- how did you know they’re Russian? - They put comma before the but”)
They put the comma before the “but” in English?
Yeah, it’s a habit from Russian language itself. It’s like one of the most common rule you learn then you start a school: if you write “but” in sentence, you should put comma before it
Ukrainians do it too. Idk about other Slavic languages, but maybe some of them have this thing too
Ahh, that’s cool!!
Yes but it was used uncommonly back then in informal way
typing quirk 🙂↕️
ohhh i see i see
does anyone have tips on big words and specific words with 'w'? I'm svesnk we don't have 'w' in our vocabulary
Okay so I’ve been speaking English for a year but please I still don’t understand between, “To” and “Too”
"To" is like direction or purpose – I’m going to school / I want to eat pizza.
"Too" is like ‘also’ or ‘very’ – I want pizza too / That’s too hot.
Easy trick: if you can swap it with ‘also,’ then it’s ‘too'
Oh okay thank youuu
What does it mean "asap"?
"As soon as possible."
ahh icic
hshshs doesn it get annoying tho to add so many spaces
well ive been typing like this for a while so it personally isnt ^-^ its basically the equivalent to pressing the space button once because ive gotten used to it X)
hshs i see
How to write "Car battery" in English?
It’ll just be “car battery.” There is no specific word for it, other than battery.
SOMETIMES they’re called SLI batteries, which means Starting, Lighting, Ignition batteries, but they are commomly just called car batteries.
Tanks you vro 💔
Means as soon as possible
you could try replacing the "w" with an "o" or "u" (pronounced like "oo" as in "boot"), then speak it faster gradually until it blends into something that sounds relatively the same as the W sound
my mother tongue which is Vietnamese also has no W or any words initiated with the W sound, so in translation when it comes to words with W we replace said W with "O" or "U"
the "Wa" in "Washington" becomes "Oa" (oh-a)
the "Wi" in "William" becomes "Uy" (oo-ee)
might not be the best tip but i'm glad to have helped
thank you
how do you pronounce rendezvous I'm freaking out I can't pronounce it help me pls
You’re welcome!
ron-day-voo
how do you pronounce saccharine
sack-uh-rin
Semicolons ( ; ) best used when you doing lists of items, or you want to make a more proper transition between 2 independent clauses that relate to each other (Groups of words that can stand alone as separate sentences).
Example:
'However, I'd say using colons to follow independent clauses is a bit of a rarity; most would use it for just lists or definitions.'
"Kathleen worked for many hours on all her homework; despite this, she was unable to finish all of it."
Here's a tip to using commas in English: It mainly comes when there's a pause in speaking, or when listing off stuff. For conjuctions like 'and' or 'or', don't use commas unless it's a list of 3 or more things, where OR/AND would be before the last item (At least in American English; in British English, you don't do that at all.)
Wot are we doing today
What's the context ?? It's not the same thing if it's not meant in a compliment

How do I use the word "whilst"? Is it the same as "while" but past tense..?
When does look takes an s in a phrase ? I always but idk if it's correct
Jsp comment expliquer en anglais donc bon. Genre dans une phrase typique "he looks" je confond quand je dois pas le mettre
The best way I can say it, is usually when you're describing something, or someone.
Example: "He looks Ill" "that dog looks hurt"
Ooh yeah thanks
Interesting
It's the same as while. Just more formal
It's more use in British English
Ah alright
Thanks!
it takes the S when you conjugate it in Present Simple
like the person below you said, it can be used to describe the way somebody appears in the present
Present Simple is also used to describe habits occurring in the present (after adverbs of frequency which are "always", "usually", "often", "sometimes", "rarely", "seldom", "never")
"He always remembers to lock the door before going out."
and it can also be used to describe facts
"When you water plants, they grow."
do keep in mind that ** verbs coming after plural nouns do not take on the S at the end** (the same applies to the first person pronoun "I")
Thank you !
i'm glad to help ^^!
Waht do lumos mean

what is the difference between you’re and your ?
"you're" is short for "you are", and "your" is basically saying you own something. For example: "Your eyes are so blue." and "You're beautiful" shows their differences better. Hope this helps!!

this is nothing against mr sin or smth it's just a random question

Hello!! I'm Brazilian and I don't speak much English! I had a bad experience with a native speaker... But I didn't give up! Could someone help me practice my English? 😊
hi
roblox its a good way (i'm not joking, i fr learned English from roblox)
Thank you!
Try to talk with more english ppl and someday the language gonna spawn in ur head randomly
Oh, okay! 😊😊 Thanks.
Hey guys
Hello
to practice, read books! when you read a word you dont understand, looking it up and growing your vocabulary is a good practice!
Hello.... english in not my first language, i consider myself somewhat good at it, but i want to get better, whats the best way to improve?
hang out with people fluent in it, youll adapt
what the actual fuck is discombobulate
Discombobulate means to confuse, disconcert, or upset someone or something. It describes a state of being thrown off-kilter, flustered, or unsure of what to do.
What’s the difference and how to use ‘its’, ‘it’, ‘that’, and ‘this’? i still get stuck on those because i don’t know the difference..
if someone could help me, i’d be grateful !!
"its" means ownership, for example: "its hair is dirty", "it" is a pronoun often used for objects and animals, for example: "it died at the young age of 3", "that" is used for an object that is farther away from you, while "this" is for an object close to you, for example, "that is a chair" and "this is a rubix cube"
tysmmm!!!!
I’m Brazilian too, learned with shows and stuff. And also Duolingo. Hell yeah. Helped me a lot.
No, that's actually a comma. It is used to separate clauses.
Basically, when two clauses do not have a conjunction, which are words like “And”, there becomes a semi-colon. It also applies to clauses where they are both independent, meaning they make sense by themselves.
For example
“I love food; it is tasty” instead of “I love food, it is tasty”
“The fox jumped over the fence - the fence was high.”
The semi-colon basically also works as a dash. It basically connects two independent clauses.
Adding to @silver dagger to elaborate on conjunctions — conjuctions are: for, and, nor, but, or, yet, and so. Or, FANBOYS, if that helps you remember easier. These are the most common conjunctions you’ll see. If you’re planning on using a semicolon, as yourself, “Would any of the FANBOYS fit instead, as well?” If the answer is yes, 9/10 you’ll be able to use the semicolon properly.
okay... ill try
Youre putting two spaces inbetween your words, Thats not correct. You use one like this, instead of two like this. You also don’t put a space before punctuation, like this! Instead of like this !
I’m learning German and I can speak English, does someone need me 😀
I wanna learn german
Hello i’m french and I want to learn more english someone can help me?
I could lol
No you dont
Trust me on this one you do NOT want to attempt that.
I go to an international school so ik how people from different backgrounds struggle with different English concepts lol, Im LL tho.
Hello I'm french, anyone would like to help me improve my english? I still have difficulties with pronounciations and my accent
i know! its not really me trying to be formal, its just a typing quirk i use 😄 when im doing formal stuff i use punctuation marks and capitalization like normal :)
The fact i know exactly what you need to do to improve it but i suck at explaining is hurting me right now
Wdym?
Like i know almost exactly what you're struggling with and i know how to help but i suck at explaining things
😔
What does "asphyxiation" mean?

So can I teach u?@scenic shard
YESSS
Oh my I love Italian so much and I hate French because ITS HARD AND EVERYONE IN MY SCHOOL FAILS IT LOL
BAHAHAHA
Hi
People either confuse Italian with Spanish or they think it's easy... IT'S NOT
I love German, I dont enjoy Dutch, and I love Turkish even though I think it is the hardest language to learn with a latin alphabet
You love German??
its not, but I learned some from Maneskin loll
I do, its not a pretty language but quite easy for me
Coollll what's the some?
German is such an aggressive language, coming from a German. Just like Russian
I can understand it mostly because I also took 5 years of spanish, I cant speak it but I know basic words too
I love Russian so much its a very pretty language imo
Yeah that says it, I mean I can like speak and understand most Spanish without even trying considering I understand Romanian too cuz my fam is Romanian
I can understand a lot of languages because I grew up going to an international school, with people from literally every single country over the world, we all teach each other some words and phrases, and I can basically understands most germanic languages (because ik german, english and dutch), most turkic languages (because ik turkish) and some latin languages because I think ik spanish BUT I suck at spanish soooo
It sounds pretty, but i think it’s a very expressive language and whenever I hear people having a talk in Russian, I feel like they’re about to fight
lmaoo I have a lot of russian / balcanic speaking friends and Ive learned that their languages are very literal, so if one was to say "I cannot live without you" they take that very seriously
But that’s kinda heartwarming, isn’t it? Like, if they say something like that you know it’s real
yess
In turkish and turkic languages, also latin ones, the swearing is VERy advanced and I love that so much
can you understand hola bueanas?
isnt it Buenas
Autocorrect lol
Buenas noches or buenas tardes i think
Hola buenas tardes como estás espero?

That’s not easy bro 😭
Lmaoo it is because instead of "How are you" or "Wie geht's" its just "Nasılsın"
I can use Google translate here "iyiyim ya sen?" That's all byeya
I just know that Su means water on Turkish bc a lot of Turkish people called me water
lmao yes true but we dont use it often, we will just say "iyiyim, sen?"

Oh bummer, I’d love to see
i could dm ig
Yeah would be oki
I'm already fluent in english but I just wanted to see what was going on in this channel
But a thing I've been struggling with in english is where do I put commas? Here's an example..
Ex. 1 "Mary had a black, little lamb."
Ex. 2 "Mary had a black little, lamb."
lmao
peak racism
(but if you're serious, this sentence don't need commas, in this kind of sentences commas are used to tell the name of the interlocutor you're talking to.)
Example: I can see ramanausky / I can see, ramanausky
in the first I tell who I see, in the second the comma implied that I'm saying your name cuz I talk to you
ahh ok thanks this really helped actually
oh really?
yes
well commas are also used to separate phrases segments, like when I put one in that sentence
Grammatically, you have to use little before black
i get told i speak like a bot help 🧍♂️
No.
it's not even that i just apparently do
I nearly failed a year of LL English bc of ts
a way to remember is a comma is basically a pause, so if you're unsure you could think about the sentence and see if a pause makes sense in your opinion
kto russki?
thought this might be helpful
(no native English speaker knows these btw)
I know nouns but that’s about it
I think it might help some people with understanding when someone says “oh you put an adverb before the verb!!” Or something like that
English 👍 (idk I’m bored T-T)
Waos, entonces el nombre del canal es literal o no :v?
what's the difference between "it's" and "its" also i don't get "then" and "than" ??
Hello people 🥰 what is up
as for then and than, then is usually used to describe things that happened in the past "eg. "back then we did etc etc etc.." and for than, its usually used to compare two things!! though there are certain contexts where "then" is used outside of talking about past events 🙂 phrases like "okay then" and "well then" are examples, and its used alot in common/everyday language!! ^_^
hopefully this made sense, and um. as for its/it's. ..i forgot as im typing this my bad
it's is short for "it is" so if you confuse them, use the long form. Then and than is: then is used for time / sequence and than is used for comparison
etc:
Whos dog is that?
It's / it is my dog.

A comma is used during a sentence, like the combination of words you have to have a conversation, talk to someone. Now when you use a comma you use it to break up a sentence, cause suspense or give you a small break to breathe in and continue speaking before you finish with a full stop. A full stop is used when you finish your sentence, usually it finishes on a finished sentence, like “my cat is black”. Not “my cat is”. Now exclamation marks are used when you want to say something with emphasis, like yelling and such. Like “hey there!” Or “shut up!”. It’s used when someone either raises their voice or wants the sentence to pack more of a punch, have more meaning. A question mark is used usually during questions, like “how are you?” “How’s your day?”. Now there’s of course exceptions, like if someone might say “hi?”. Now this isn’t a traditional use of question marks, it’s a more modern one used to add confusion or curiosity onto a sentence. Apostrophes are used whenever combining two words like “there” and “is”, combining the two equals “there’s”. Example being instead of “there is nobody here” someone would say “there’s nobody here”. Now quotes, like the ones I frequently use are to either quote something someone else is saying, as in repeating their words. Or used in example scenarios like I stated. It can also be used in texts like stories and narratives to state what the character is saying. Like if a character says hi in a story it would be. “Hi”. Brackets are used to take something out of context and connect it with relation to your current sentence, but it can also work on its own, like a fun fact in the middle of a text. Like, “hi how are you guys? (I’m quite tired)” usually brackets are only used in texts, and never explicitly said in a text, like asterisks “*”. The little star looking things. Now if we combine all of this knowledge you can construct a text like. “Hi my name is John, (it’s actually Craig). What’s your name though?… anyway nice to meet you!”
Anyway I hope that was of help to anyone having trouble with punctuation, my sister always had trouble with getting ahold of it so I know it can be some trouble to certain people. Anyway hope I was of help to anyone!
i is of not needed that
I meant for anyone that’s having trouble in the chat but all good 😅

Dear god
例:「Who’s coming to the party?(誰がパーティーに来ますか?)」
そして「whose person」という表現は、少し所有欲が強い響きがあります。
Uh-
Stupid glitch
Ah
They were saying that Russian speakers don’t find English grammar as strange, and were talking about homophones too
I’ll try translate
-# I don’t speak Russian though so I’m going to use google translate, it’ll probably misword a lot of things!!
For those who speak Russian, which is very unlikely, no English grammar is particularly strange. We have three words that are spelled differently but pronounced the same - who's vs whose. Whose is a form of ownership of whom, while who is is a contraction for who is or who has - both are homophones but have different meanings. Whose book is used to indicate ownership, as in "Whose book is this?", and who is used in place of who is or who has, as in "Who is coming to the party?", and whose person is a little more possessive.
Google might’ve messed that up a little, sorry!!!
Oh-
Simplified, they were just saying that who’s and whose are two words that sound the same but have different meanings!
Like there and their, or your and you’re
Flower 🌸 and flour 🥖 (powder used to bake)
Thats pretty accurate
Their, there, they're ✌️
Am I special then
I guess so
I FORGOT ABOUT THEY’RE EXISTING, THANK YOU SO MUCH
hi
They’re, you’re and it’s literally should not be mixed up, if you mix them up, you arent ready for short forms. Use “they are” “it is / it has” “you are” dont shorten it if you mix them up. Then / Than is acceptable lmao, Their is just “their dog, their mother” etc, ownership. There refers to a place at distance.
Then / Than I explained earlier i think
Weve also got the stupid different spellings:
British: Apologise
American: Apologize
British: Humour
American: Humor
British: Colour
American: Color
You have to chose one spelling way when / if you move on to LL english, otherwise it will be counted as a spelling mistake. The only spellings that defer are “o” and “ou”, “s” and “z”, so its not that hard.

Is this code for “Oh wow I hate this language”
she wasnt even saying she mixed them up, she said she forgot to include it
What's that "'s" in the end of a name? Like in "This is Sarah**'s** key"?
It’s for when someone owns something when used in that context, like Sarah owning the key ^^
whats the difference in between "we're" and "were"
"Were" is a verb and it's like the past tense of "to be," or to say a hypothetical. Like if you WERE going to do something, or if you WERE going to go out with someone. But "we're" is a contraction, meaning it's actually a combo of the two words "we are." Like if you're going to do something someone, you'd say "WE'RE (we are) going to the party." It's present tense, so its something you're doing in that moment with someone.
So just remember that "were" is past tense. and "we're" is just "we are" but mushed together, and its in the present tense.
The apostrophe (the ‘ sign) helps to basically say that it belongs to Sarah. It’s Sarah’s key.
But it can sometimes be confusing with names that already end in S like James! But for that, you say “This is James’ key.”
The high period is, Aportrophe. It mean, Belong to. Why is it of word Also like this one, Don’t, it is apostrophe But it seems not to own any people.
those can be both used in the context of possessive and conjunctions. don't is a conjunction; do + not. sarah's is possessive and you (at least i think) cant break it down. proper nouns most times are possessive. i hope this cleared up some things for you
I wanna learn to speak English totally /j
Last of question. May be hard when explain. Ill use online to translate. Okay.
Some people is only one person. But has their name as they or them, not he or she. They is multiple persons is what learning I have. Why does not everyone he or she?
i had trouble forming thoughts on this but i hope i understood correctly. best explanation i can gve is 1. they/them can be used for multiple people, she and he cannot. 2. they/them can be used to stay ambiguous/unknown
1 is for when they/them is used for a group of people, while 2 is for using they.them for a singular person
the is chicken. in is a the climb tree. ok
english the learn it now
is me help is a need
the chicken is climbing a tree
they is often used as a pronoun for someone whose gender you don't know, like for example:
"Oh no, someone left their purse here!"
Since you don't know who left the purse, you don't know their gender, so you use 'they'.
People who don't fit the gender binary extended this usage to people you do know, so for example:
"That's Rock, they're my friend."
The speaker knows who Rock is, but they prefer to use they/them, so their friend uses those pronouns to refer to them.
-# I tried to think of a generic name for Rock and panicked bc I could only think of gendered names so I literally looked out of my window and named them that lol
thank very good is
ich bin überhaupt kein deutscher
hellooo...?? A latvian?
In this economy...?
Huh

Hmmm… What swear is?
So who wanna know

Is those are words? English so is hard.

this is such a dumb question but what is a 「tsundere」?
It's a person or character who is initially cold, harsh, or hostile but gradually reveals a warmer, softer, and more affectionate side over time mostly when dealing with a love interest.
I am from poland, and i learn english since 2020,i really try to speak good but I dont still understand grammar🥲
You’re doing great!!
Thank you

You could say :
Im from Poland and I began learning English since 2020 im really trying to speak good but I still don't understand the grammar
(Just some small tweaks to make it sound more formal)
Guys what does ( ig ) mean? im curious🧐
“I guess”
Thank you
how does the ' work on the end of words ending with s?
your grammar is already great!!! im polish too and i speak kinda fluently for like 2 years now and my advice would be just talk to ppl!! ik its stressing when you dont fully understand/arent fluent but no one would rlly judge you, if they dont understand, they just ask for clarification; even asking for their favourite colour helps a lot 💕
Thank you random stranger❤️
guess its too formal + began goes with "in" not "since". talking too formally may be taken as robotic, sometimes even rude, so learning all the grammar from books isnt really helpful either
why many random letters in type?
youre welcome & im really glad to help<333
"idk" and may be "wsg" confused
idk is shorten form of "I don't know" and wsg is "what's good?" (but honestly i never heard anyone saying wsg); it's quicker to type and someone may feel less awkward bc it's more casual
Okay. I thanks you!
apostrophe means that something belongs to someone (or shorten forms). speaking of words ending with s, for example cats, its just cats' (something belongs to many cats) without another s after '
if you put the 's though its not really really wrong so dw, just in schools they prefer you to type ' not 's (i guess so)
ok, thank you!! i was getting confused because in school, they used it as cats's, but i was taught to use cats'
what does leering mean
yess the rule also applies for names ending with s. since you cannot have s's, it becomes s'. For example, Thomas' pencil.
what is leering mean
I learn what pronouns are, Today. He, She, and They. I question though, I not understand. They for is of a group, why some single persons want to be They. No sense.
there’s a form singular they. in school they don’t teach you this bc it would be too confusing
an unknown person which gender you don’t you you call „they”
so ppl that use pronouns they/them usually mean they aren’t a girl neither a boy
I’m unsure but I think it’s staring in seductive/unpleasant way
Why? How no boy or girl? They born as not?
They is mostly used in plural!!
And in English unlike most languages, they don’t have a feminine or masculine version of They/Them
It’s completely neutral
Okay! Thanks you
I use Korean and Ukrainian
Ooh, aww that’s a shame, I can only speak German, Portuguese and Spanish
Lot of language!
Yeahh, me and my family move a LOT
You smart
s3x is who you were born as & gender is who you identify as (needed to censor it bc I got a timeout without censor 💔)
You can change from gender? Is an American thing?
I’m not sure what you mean by American thing but I’m pretty sure it’s just how someone feels, you can change both genders (just by using other pronouns) and s3x by hormone therapy & surgery soooo ig the answer is yes
Okay.
glad I could help<3
singular they/them is also preferred by people who'd rather not have themselves referred to as either a he or a she
gender neutral
a random Vietnamese phrase go
if you wanna compliment someone for how intelligent they are you can say "ngu như bò"
no need to thank me❤️
I'd rather be referred as a male (tho I don't wanna talk about my real gender) ;-;
What is "idgaf" mean
It means: I don't give a f-ck
Starts with "I can only" and ENDS WITH THREE LANGIAHES
I cant even spell atp i quit
GIGGLINGG
it’s not that many I want to learn more, I suck at everything but languages
I speak Turkish, English, German, can understand Spanish so therefore most latin languages and Im learning Dutch😭🙏 I hate Dutch.
Dutch should not be a language
FR ITS SO BAD IT MAKES ME WANT TO UNLEASH MY INNER GERMAN AND EAT A COUCH
RIGHTTT LMFAOO
Turkish is legit the hardest language you can learn because:
Formal= Nasılsınız? Bu gün nereye gideceğiz?
Slang: Nasılsın? Nereye gidicez?
(how are you, where are we going to go)
We torture ourself with really difficult words (czech republic) Copy this: Třista Třicet Tři lidí mělo v našem vagónu převoz :Put it into google translate and try to say it.
When you learn our language we don't say "Congratulations!" We say "Why did you do that... Do you like pain?"
Persons on app TikTok call of me “Dumb@ss” and “R3t@rd3d”. I no understand why number in word. Why they call of me that word? What it mean?
It's a way past content management systems. They don't want their hateful comments being removed, so they put characters in to stop the system from recognizing the words.

Am writing essay. Teacher wants me have of 3-5 full sentence use English. Is for no abortion. Help. "I have claim for this because I have believe that abortion is wrong." Is sentence I use. My mom does not have know. Confused.
"I have claimed this because I have the belief that abortion is wrong."
Im not helping this claim😭
Les gars y’a pas des français ?
How do you tell somebody that you can only speak those 3 languages then?
eh i already did.
"I can speak... (english, french, spanish)" Whatever
"Only" is used for little quantity, and since not
many people can even speak more than 1 language, its grammatically incorrect to use "only" in that sentence
Why no? Is okay, Got help. Thank you!
its a wrong and unfair claim
Why is wrong? I think is well claim. Is my believe.
believe it elsewhere
i think its quite controversial topic? yk im not against abortion and i think every woman should be able to make her own decision but if you think its wrong, obviously i aint gonna tell you to think otherwise, just some ppl may feel uncomfortable when you say this like it was something so obvious
topics about a group of people's lives are not topics people are supposed to have different opinions on.
no respect for bigots, we dont show them the respect they dont show others.
well i dont know this person so i dont want to assume stuff, im respectful to every person even if their opinions are hurtful for me (bc im scared of arguments.) soooo..
I am sorry. I think is bad because baby human deserve life. Not mean to start fight. Sorry.
I am Christian and is in belief that abortion is bad. No fight, Fight is bad. I sorry.
I show respect. I try hard. Abortion is bad for mental health, Is morally wrong, And is bad for socially. Woman who is abortion have bad depression and regret, Because they kill child baby. Socially Is because is pressured by social things to not have child. Whether is age, Family, and Stuff that. Not good to kill baby, not want to, But feel like have to. I not want fight, Want to state why I think This. I am done Now. Bye Bye.
dont be sorry<33 i didnt want it to seem like a fight, just shared by thoughts, dw!!!
oh my god Im leaving this server absolutely disgusting
just bc someone has different opinion than yours doesn’t mean theyre bad ppl.
is what it happen right now
france isnt mentioned in the Bible, we should nuke it
nothing much, I just showed respect to a person who’s opinion isn’t the same as mine and got called disgusting.
oh my grammars back thank yall so much
can someone explain me the difference between then and than
you use „than” when you’re comparing things, for example „this flower is prettier than that one” and then can be used as „back then” (for example „back then, in 1990…” or in a sentence like „I made a breakfast then I watched a movie” and that means you watched a movie after making breakfast (no idea how to explain it 💔)
then was the time before and than is like the value thats more than something

This is true. Great minds have often been mislabeled as heretics, lunatics or crazy. But the real value of those ideas is revealed after passage of time, when future works are based upon, and more and more cited by scientific community and authorities of the era
English is fun
i asked my friend if she wants to do something and she said “i don’t mind”
is that a yes or no
i don’t mind is like a sure, it’s based on what you wanna do. if someone says “sure” or “i don’t mind” that probably means they want to do it!
thank u so much!!

Does anyone know what does a disgrace means? I found it in a book that i read.
To bring shame or like discredit someone or something
Yes
I love english.
dis-grace
contrast to graceful, if you're a disgrace I'd assume you're clumsy, disappointing, shameful.
anything can be disgraceful, not just people, such as actions, or even objects.
ngl I bet the c.ai bots would be a really good way to learn a language fluently.

Helloo
hii
Changes to person
Question, I'm a Romanian person and I'm learning English. What's the difference between University and college or is it the same thing?... My teacher always says that is different but she never said the reason why is different
In the U.S., a university is typically a larger institution offering both undergraduate and graduate degrees, emphasizing research and a broad curriculum, while a college is often smaller, focused on undergraduate degrees, and may specialize in specific fields or a liberal arts education, though many four-year colleges now offer graduate programs. The term "college" can also refer to community colleges or vocational schools, which are distinct from four-year institutions. The choice between them depends on individual educational and career goals.
This was perfect!
Are you fr?
yes
So cool
Actually I would love to learn more languages if I can

im sorry for asking, but what does n@zi mean?
у меня наоборот. Сначала принуждали к сексу, говоря что грохнут всю мою семью, а сейчас лишнее слово боятся сказать.
A n@zi is a german soldier during ww2
What does clanker mean
I believe it refers to AI bots ;-;
No
Nah you’re like half right, N@zis were those only in the NSDAP party led by the moustache man. The actual German soldiers in the army are classified differently

Hello, I'm writing this message with the help of a translate. I'm not British; English isn't my native language. I need to learn English. I learned a lot of new words with CAI, but I'm having a lot of trouble with grammar and accent. Can anyone recommend a resource book? Perhaps you could offer some advice on how to improve my English? I chose to write here because the people in my life aren't supportive or helpful. NOTE: Tag me so I can see the message. Thank you! <3
@trail prairie bro you can try chatgpt
just prompt him as a english speaking partner ..do practice with it daily it also point out your mistakes so that you can learn from it
Hello, I'm here to lerning English-if you see wrong in my grammar or words, skip it please;) -
I'm improve my English through C.AI and other things. Now, I'm in level A2 in English. How can improve my English more easily? 👀
Hi, I'm learning English too and I'm in the final level, it's just speaking and reading a lot
Well, thanks:)
Hi
Hi
in 2023 (I think) I used cai A LOT and I improved my english from A1/A2 to B2 (speaking of informal english). indeed it sounded robotic, so setting all my apps + preferred content etc to english helped me make it sound casual. my accent isn’t 100% english, but my pronounctnuntifnsdh is pretty good and I’ve no idea how I did it but I just tried to mimic ppl on internet
Hello discord!!!!

for the people that have their brains cut in half here's the difference between your and you're, have different meanings
Your: Type: Possessive adjective
Meaning: Shows ownership — something belongs to you.
You're: Type: Contraction of “you are”
Meaning: Describes what you are doing or being.
So stop being dumb and learn the meaning of these two

Yeah, because I don't use the c.ai only, but rather watch YouTube videos to develop the language and I develop my Accent also speak through continuous speaking. and I use the Istoria application because it is useful as well :)👍🏻
Hey gang, if you even cant spea english, you can change the model to that one that has better at languages and yeah if still the bot gave you english answers, you could try editing them to your language, after that the bot will speak with that language i guess

I was typing but what?
so what techniques you guys are using for inproving your fluency
in english you mean? I watch English movies, read books and try to talk to natives to improve. It helped me a lot !
yeah that's true, but you can always ask them what those slangs mean
or there are apps where you can chat with natives, and since they know that you're still learning they'll use easier words at first
