Random thought I received when showering, even though I did use this words, I don't know the full meaning of it. What "blud" means? I kinda have an idea on what It means, it's like an alternative words for bro or something but correct me if I'm wrong
āBludā is a slang term for āfriend.ā Think of it like calling someone ābro.ā It does depend on the context though, as I believe it can also be used in a negative connotation.
pretty sure its a shortened form of "blood" to signify connection in a friend sense. However, it can be used differently. if you say "Yung (young) blud", its a way of calling someone a child basically (in a teasing sense. Can be playful or negitive depending on context.)
You can also call someone YOUR "blud", which gives a friendly, close meaning to the word.
basically what Ganmaoshufu said
Ay, i kinda confused about the difference like for example: eat, eating, ate or sleep, slepts, sleeping. Sounds silly to ask this XD sorry guys
Verb Forms
- Base form: eat, sleep
- Past tense: ate, slept (not "slepts")
- Present participle (gerund): eating, sleeping
Examples
- I eat breakfast every day. (habitual action)
- I ate breakfast yesterday. (completed action)
- I'm eating breakfast right now. (ongoing action)
I hope this helps!
Ahh i see, thanks š
Past, present, and future tenses!
Even though Violini already explained, a simple way to put it is this.
Verbs ending in 'ing' usually mean they're happening right now. (Sleeping, Working, Driving, swimming, etc.)
Words like run, jump, fly, see, think, etc can be used in both a non action sense ("I like to run."), or a future action ("I'm gonna go run in abit." / "I will run.")
Past tense words can vary in the English language but typically end in -ed. (Fainted, Started, stretched,). Past tense can get alittle tricky!

-# (I would like to sincerely apologize for any mistakes or misunderstandings that might be caused by my flawed use of the English language. I understand that my writing or speaking might not be up to the expected standard in countries such as the United States of America, United kingdom, Australia, etc. and I regret any confusion or misunderstandings that may arise because of such knowledge i have not in fact reached. English is not my first language, and while I am constantly striving to improve, I know there is always room for growth. I truly appreciate your understanding and patience as I continue to learn and refine my english language skills. Your feedback and any corrections you offer are valuable to me for as long as i still experience existence of atoms and molecules in my body, as they help me become more proficient and confident in my communication. once more, I deeply apologize for any inconvenience my knowledgeable errors may have caused, and I thank you for your continued support till this point.)
Are you⦠serious?
You didnāt even include a punctuation mark.
I thought saying "junkie" was a nice/friendly way of saying junk food so i said "did you bring any junkies?". But i think i know now. š
oh...
uh oh TwT
'gonna' is also a slang term, so don't use it professionally !!! :D
here are some other words to avoid in any professional setting/writing
gonna (use going/going to)
wanna (want a, want to)
kinda/sorta (kind of, sort of)
in professional writing, also stay away from these pesky lil creatures known as contractions
these are two words combined using an apostrophe (')
Ex: can't = can not/cannot
won't = will not
Typically, the apostrophe is placed where the missing letter is. (The 'o' in can't is missing from the 'not')
English is REALLY confusing, but it can be really fun when learned :D
And because I'm a grammar freak, let's talk possessives.
when adding 's to a word, this typically indicates possession. It's theirs.
But there are different forms of possession. There are both singular and plural possessives, and they can change depending on the word. (I know, damn you English)
For example, the dog's leash. The leash belongs to, or is connected to the dog. But, upon moving the apostrophe, you get a different meaning. The dogs' leash. The leash belongs to the dogs, plural. Multiple dogs.
BUT WAIT. Before you go.
Do NOT confuse it's and its as possessives. "It's" is a contraction. It is. "Its" is the proper term when referring to possessives.
Sorry if that's all confusing, hope you all have an amazing day/night !!!! :D
oh uhh LMAO i speak english and always have... was just speaking casually to avoid coming off as arrogant
pretty good pointers though for yall who may need it
im cooked š
hi
ā¼ļø"a lot" is two wordsā¼ļø
it is not alot, or allot, or whatever other abomination people come up with
As well is two words too!!
You're vs Your... Which one should you use?
I see these two commonly get mixed up, even by fluent speakers. Here's a breakdown!
You're = You are. Describing You as a person
"You're doing great!"
"I think you're pretty awesome."
Your = Possesive . Describing something that belongs to you.
"Hey, I think you left your shoes outside."
"Is this your pen?"
Adding on to this, it might also be helpful to think of "you're" as "you are" to make it easier to determine which one to use.
āYāall aināt gonna believe thisā is so English
I didn't know this channel existed, also, "I am not surprised you are using this channel" vs "I'm not surprised you're using this channel"
Iām not sure if youāre asking the differences or are just pointing it out, but if youāre asking, let me explain.
These sentences are the exact same sentences, but the second sentence is using the contractions āIāmā and āyouāreā instead of āI amā and āyou areā in the first sentence.
The sentences mean the same thing, whether you use contractions or not, but be sure to properly use apostrohpies (ā) and the proper words like āyouāreā instead of āyourā to correctly convey what youāre trying to say.
ohnononono youre good its perfectly fine i was just letting ppl know who might not know so that if they write english essays they wont use it.
but using casual language is good :3
temse
I was trying to point out the fact they mean the exact same thing but shorter, I didnt know this channel existed so I wanted to say that, but I also had to provide an example to be a bit more related.
random tip;
you only use ā an ā with words that start with a e i o u.
example on hiw not to do it
ā i had an chocolate cake ā
how to do it
ā i had an amazing chocolate cake ā
Ah, I see. Apologies for my misunderstanding, then!
No issue, I was just surprised this channel existed.
on a keyboard, always check that you (especially with o and i) typed the correct letter.
"hiw" is incorrect and people usually point you out on this.
People normally donāt point it out because they know itās a misclick and donāt care for it, pointing it out can be seen as rude
nvm i made a mistake
ignore this message sorry for the ping š
Not sure if it's been mentioned but adding ' to combine two words is very common in English
There's at least 36 words that are just the combination of 2 words to shorten them, called 'contractions'
Who knows how to say the period of someone's reign, like "It was better when [person X] was ruling" according to Russian "ŠŃŠø ŃŠµŠ»Š¾Š²ŠµŠŗŠµ Š„ Š±ŃŠ»Š¾ Š»ŃŃŃŠµ" ?
things were better under X
Give me access to russian channel pls
there aint any russian mods, so nope
They blocked the channel?
ye, and portuguese one too cuz of that
Can I help people learn English? I'm a native from U.S., and I have correct grammar as well.

Can someone explain, what is the difference between "may be" and "maybe"?
May be is a verb phrase so its like May = helping verb and Be = main verb itās when youāre talking about something that could happen or might be true
- You use it when there is a subject involved in a sentence
like āIt may be raining laterā = āit might rain later
Maybe is an adverb like āperhaps/possiblyā u use it when something might happen but not sure of it
Like āMaybe shes at the libraryā = āperhaps shes at the libraryā
Thank you, Irene š
PLEASD LEARN ME ENGLISH WELL (im french)
BIEN SURRR
Thank
I can try >o<
Y'all what is the difference between its and it's
Okay so basically āitsā is talking about owning/possessing something (ex: āits mineā) and āitāsā is the shortened form of āit isā! (ex: itās pretty cool -> it is pretty cool)
hallo
Hiii
Someone wants to ask me something? English is not my first language but I think I can express myself quite well!
In addition, I love to teach and help people, so this is more like a beg, haha
No problemo
Whoās your favorite fictional character? :3
Umm, like, I don't have a especific one, 'cause I like so many of them. Maybe an anime character, I guess:)
And yours?
My favorite character is Spamton from a video game called deltarune! Heās also my comfort character š
I think I heard about it, such a nice fact!
Thank you ;3
Your English is very good, do you have any hobbies and why do you enjoy doing them?
Oh, thanks! Umm, I think drawing, writing and playing the violoncello! I enjoy drawing because is satisfactory when you get a good result! In addition, I like writing because I enjoy imagining stories and representating them with nice vocabulary and also getting people enjoy, too. My parents decided(when I was young) to choose the violoncello, so apart from the lazy feeling, I think I love to see how people feel things with my music! And yours?
You're welcome:D
Also If you compare it with the people leaning English is easy to get better at it, haha
You like drawing? Me too!
Yayyy!!^^
Hello
Hi
Its literally my favorite thing in the world
For real. Like, I was at school and the teacher pick up one(the one that I'm doing in that moment) of my 9192838320299383 drawings(there are in the chest of drawers too) and says: "Pay attention to the things you have to" and she placed the paper sheet under my folder. Like 20 seconds later I get it out again and continue with the draw
Do you think so? Because I have to go over a few things on the traductor(like this sentence, or "chest of drawers"...)
Sorry, but hereās some light corrections!
-It would be āthere are more in the chest of drawers tooā
-People normally say sheet of paper rather than paper sheet
-it would be ācontinue with the drawing, or ācontinued to drawā
Draw is the action, drawing is the present action, but also the picture :]
First, now I realize! Sorry, one of the reasons for using the traductor is that I'm afraid of having a mistake.
Second, I was writing fast, I only wrote "sheet" and realized that "paper" it will feet better.
Third, the saddest fact of all mistakes is that I know how to write it but I was writing too fast D: .
Yeah, I know but whatever it's the case, thank you so much^^!
And don't apologize, actually(š¤āļø), I'd apologize because I'm the only one who have to. Sorry again.
Ahh donāt apologise, you shouldnāt have to apologise over mild typing mistakes, Iām apologising because it can sometimes come off as rude to people when you correct others :,]
I know, right? That is the reason which make me apologize. I correct people so much, so I think that If I don't write correctly I'm like an hypocrite
how i say coloca as mao pro alto in english
Boa noite, meu nobre. āPut your hands up" Ć© assim que se fala. Bem direto, coisa de polĆcia, assalto, briga, tudo.
Se vc quiser mais leve, tipo brincando:
"Hands up!" tambƩm serve.
Se quiser mais ameaƧador:
"Put your hands in the air!"
(Palavras do meu professor de inglĆŖs)
PEOPLE DONāT SAY PAPER SHEET??
USUALLY NOT, NO
REALLY? IāVE BEEN SAYING IT WRONG? (Even though my native language isnāt English, I learned English since first grade šš)
ITS NOT SOME RULE OR ANYTHING, JUST SOME PEOPLE MIGHT GO āHMMā WHEN READING ITšš
Like people would use āgo get yourself a sheet of paperā but if itās not paper and like tin foil/aluminium(?), (or other sorta sheet stuff that I canāt think of rn) you could probably say sheet afterwards and itāll sound fine
I mean, since Iāve only ever been in the US for two weeks total, maybe here it sounds normal because our first language isnāt English.
But I mean, if I went to school in the US, Iād definitely survive. I used to take classes in English because of a bilingual school
Your English is really good, I can say that now lol, learning other languages is really hard
I do writing competitions, so š
Damn, doing more than I ever willš
lmao donāt worry
Iāve been studying English basically my whole life
Iād say same but that would just be a given for meš„²
Though Iām not really putting much effort into my English class since I swear I know how to speak my language better than some people who are twice my age, so Iāll take that
Learning languages at a younger age tends to be the best, Iām just not quick with languages as a whole though
ahahah, yeah. The advantage that I have is that languages like Italian or Portuguese are really easy to understand (when written) to Spanish speakers
for example, I can basically understand most of the message by @mystic root
I gave up with my Spanish class really quicklyš
Thereās some dude in my German class that is taking Spanish, German, and French, all highers classes heās gonna take
I feel so bad for all the work and exams he has to do
idk, i learned eng by watching some videos, it took me like 1 year
its not the best but at least i can talk with english people normally
Seems pretty alright from what I see
Sometimes I just hate this language though, some things are just so dumb
my first language is spanish, we have our own stupid words too, sometimes I don't even understand people from my own country.
I like how with British English though we can add āabsoluteā in front of anything to make it an insult, very neat
I learned in less time cuz I had English teachers. English is pretty common where Iām from, so yeah
WAIT SAME
wow, thats nicee i learned thx to youtube videos
i like to watch storytimes, gameplays and those things in eng
Is that my sign to watch a bunch of random German YouTubers? Lmao
where are you from? im from colombia
good idea
I started actually getting fluent with yt videos too. I used to speak with an accent thicker than Getoās voice
thats so me, the diff is that my accent is still sht
ahahah, I speak English 24/7 with my friends, so even though I stutter, Iāve been confused for an American. But then again, I stutter more in Spanish than in English, soā¦
i stutter in any language i speak
sĆŗper real vro
my message got deleted, wth
uhm, im so tired of bots ending at the wrong time, its so annoying
I'm going to throw my phone against the wall, I swear.
pls donāt that costs money
give it to me if u dont want it
i mean look, i was chating and the chat ended like ...
:((
Yeah, itās easy cause our languages came from Latin, but listening⦠bro, pain. I just glitch when I try to talk to a Spanish speaker
REAL
same with portuguese
Yeah, same
I even bug with Portuguese sometimes, not gonna lie.
For real, bruh
Now that I think it is weird, right?
For being a spanish person, saying from self experience you're good at english!
how to speak English
you're literally speaking English
are you sure
Even though itās not our native language, English is pretty common where Iām from
Where are you from? If it's not awkward to tell me, of course
awkward*
I searched it and it said it is okay:(
nah
Sodium hydride:D
Methionylglutaminylarginyltyrosylglutamylserine
I'm leaning the cases of "Going to", "Will", "Conditional 1"...In English class. My teacher said that she didn't have to study it because she says it well automatically. I asked to my bilingual sister If that is normal asking her If she did that when she was young. She told me that yes, I asked because I realized that recently I'm talking in English and a seconds later of saying "going to", "will", "Conditional 1"...I ask myself If I'm saying it right but now I think is normal
Absolutely agree, my dear friend
I'm like embarassed of speaking with "!" in a excitement way, because I think I will sound like a 10 years old teen in a "listening"
skips question
u can lie yk
For example, doing a review for a "speaking exam", I'm going to say "I highly recommend it!", or a sentence like that. And I'm going to say all serious and no one is going to read it(a fact that ruins my whole existance)
You are from a spanish-speaking country, right?
I'm getting anxious with the people who write "Your" when it's "You're", I swear. I hope they are not native English speakersš...
(Don't offend with the emoji)
Same bro...like I'm not even a native English speaker but it still bothers me when people write "your" instead of "you're" or confuse "then" with "than"
Or "than" with "then"
DID I WRITE IT WRONG? WHERE?!
It's not wrong bro
Atleast I don't see anything wrong
you have two versions of the word "tank"
- tank - military tank
- tank - tank for water
so if someone says "I have a tank in the yard" they either have a military tank or a water tank. š
What if it's a tank full of poison, instead of water
- tank - something/someone, that can handle a huge amount of something
you can keep anything in the tank depending on the size of the tank
bet
The terms "Annoyance" and "Irritation" are very similar, but not the same thing.
When someone talks about being annoyed, it's usually in response to something that isn't as significant, and has been happening over a (mild) period of time. It's more of a general term for an overall displeasure.
However, when someone talks about being irritated, it's more intense, and directed onto something (or someone) specific, such as an irritating ticking clock, or an irritating sibling who won't stop whining for you to play.
However the difference isn't significant enough to be concerned about. You can use the two interchangeably
Atleast, in modern English
What do āVaguelyā, āVehementlyā, and āRendezvousā mean?
Vaguely ā Not clearly; In a way that is unclear or not exact.
Example: She vaguely remembered the event. (She didnāt remember it clearly.)
Vehemently ā Strongly or with a lot of emotion.
Example: He vehemently denied the accusation. (He denied it with strong feeling.)
Rendezvous ā A planned meeting, usually in a specific place.
Example: They had a secret rendezvous at the park. (They planned to meet there.)
the opposite of vaguely would be vividly, right? correct me if im wrong
The word 'vaguely' is an antonym of vividly.
interesting
Ty!
Of course!
No, you no, I was talking in general, some people, I think in social media, write(for example):
"Your beautiful but I have gf".
These is written like a text in the video, not the title and it's "You're", no "Your".
First the "Ur" like "you are" and no "your" and now thisš¾
Yes and when I use the translator and doesn't work is like: "I know English but do they know?" Because I only use translator sometimes, I watch anime(for example) with English subtitles
And the difference between "bothering" and "annoying" me?
Thanks
Those are pretty similar too, but also can mean different things.
"He/she is bothering me." Typically means annoyance, but depending on the context, you could use it to imply worry about someone, like a nagging feeling. Bothering can be used in alot of different scenarios that can range in emotion when used correctly.
"He/she is annoying me." Usually only means that the person is getting frustrated by the other person's actions/words.
To sum it up.
Bothering = typically used to express exasperation, worry, nagging feelings
Annoyance = implies frustration
'Bother' and 'annoy' are synonyms. But unlike bother, annoy simply means making someone or something angry, uncomfortable, displeased.
Bother has different meanings both as a noun and verb.
As a verb, it can either mean annoying, worrying or upsetting someone (there's where the synonym comes from), but it could also mean making an effort to do something. As a noun, it can mean a big effort, something that annoys or causes trouble, or the trouble/annoyance itself.
Verb:
āHe is bothering me!ā - āHe is annoying me!ā (Synonyms)
āHe didn't even bother doing the dishes.ā (He did not care for doing the task).
Noun:
āIt wasn't a bother.ā - āIt did not cause me problems.ā
āCalling her again is not worth the bother.ā - āCalling her again is not worth the trouble/hassle/annoyance/etc.ā
āIt was never a bother to me.ā - āIt never caused me trouble/discomfort.ā
I basically just added a little more to what Christopher just said lol but yea
Thanks!
Thank you!
thank you

"VAYG-lee"
Hereās a breakdown:
"VAYG" rhymes with "plague"
"lee" like in "quickly"
So it sounds like: "VAYG-lee"
so my teacher said "adverb of frequency" and she explained it too complicated, can y'all explain it to me? (in y'all's language, it's ok)
the "always, usually, often, sometimes, rarely, seldom, never" stuff?
yeah those are used a whole lot
they're exactly what their names suggest, adverbs mentioning frequency (how often something or an action occurs)
they're commonly seen paired with verbs and adjectives
and in other instances they might be at the beginning or in the midst of a sentence
i'm not too sure how to explain them but i'll try to be as upfront and simple as possible
Always - very very likely to happen, 100% guaranteed, if you will
"He's always late to class."
here, the adverb always is paired with the adjective late, u may understand it as in 10/10 times, this "he" is late to class
Usually - happens most of the time but not 100% like always
okay bro, you're really REALLY helpful. I should say my greatest thank you. biggest thank you.
Adverb of frequency is like the percentage of a word showing how often like that guy said
"I usually see her water her plants on the balcony."
here the adverb usually is paired with the verb see, suggesting that the speaker sees the woman water her plants most of the time, but not always
Often - this one is neutral, 50% guaranteed basically
"My mom often forgets her wallet."
again, often is paired with forgets which is a verb, conveying that the speaker's mother forgets her wallet at times, but not as frequently as usually and always
Sometimes - less frequent than the 3 above, happens only occasionally
"My friend sometimes doesn't know what to say."
sometimes is paired with (doesn't) know, suggesting that the speaker's friend occasionally has no idea what to say
Rarely/Seldom - very unlikely to happen, both of these share the same meaning
"She rarely/seldom goes to bed without finishing her homework first."
rarely/seldom are paired with goes, suggesting "she" almost never goes to bed without finishing her work first
I see... this is some very detailed information, and explaination. again, biggest thank you dawg, you're the best. I mean it.
this is probably enough, i understand it now...
Never - 0% chance of happening, the exact opposite of always
"He never submits his assignment on time."
never is paired with the verb submits, meaning "he" submits his assignment 0% of the time
glad to know i've helped u šŖšŖ
have fun learning!!!!
thank you!!! you too, maybe you'll say "I'm smart enough" but everyday... u learn new things. like tomorrow's gonna be Wednesday
certainlyyy, u can never learn absolutely 100% of anything and that's nothing to fear
Hallo Americans. How to say to my mother that I got her ŠŠ¾Ń (cat) lost. And burned accidentally.
I hate google translate.
Wtf ?
Just tell me, Lesbian pfp. I think-
I like your pfp. Really. DON'T MUTE ME MY FELLOW COMRADE
I wonder how many people are here just because of this pageā¦
can you rephrase this
Can someone tell me the meaning of Overstimulated, Rehabilitation, Aviary, and Majority? Iām trying to make a bot, my English isnāt too good
Majority: what most people agree to(I think, sometimes it has this meaning, sometimes it has other meanings but i can't figure out which other ones it has).
Example:" The majority of the people here want to play basketball".
overstimulated - when someone is given too much sensory input (like noise, lights, or activity), making em feel overwhelmed
rehabilitation ā a process of helping someone recover and return to normal life after illness, injury, etc.
aviary ā a large enclosure or building where birds are kept
majority ā more than half of a total number or amount; the greater part
for example, if 60 out of 100 people vote for something, it means the majority supports it
Ty!
Ty too!
No worries!:)Always happy to help!
Also, sorry to bother again, but what about the word Conjure?
depends on the context:
- to magically bring something into view: the wizard conjured a fireball
- to create or imagine something in your mind: the smell of cookies conjured memories of her childhood
ohh thx!
IKR?? As a non-native English speaker, ITS NOT THAT HARD!! The apostrophe is there to replace a letter (aka the a) so if itās there to replace a letter, what word could it be?? YOU ARE so if āyou areā fits into the sentence, itās youāre. I did a whole yt video on that using Their/theyāre/there, its/itās and quite/quiet.
same with exited/excited

Whatās the difference between famous and infamous?
āCause I used to think āinfamousā meant not famous, but thatās apparently not the case
Famous - Known for positive or neutral reasons.
Example - Albert Einstein is famous for his contributions to science.
Infamous - Known for bad or negative reasons.
Example - He is infamous for committing a series of bank robberies.
Famous = Fame for good
Infamous = "In" + "famous" ā in a bad way

Now, in DARK Mango Psychology, you'll realize the mangoes ain't just your normal mangoes. They are DARK. chuckles And when you eat a mango you realize that the serotonins inside of the mangoes, go all the way to your brain, and then when it enters your brain and reaches your membrane, it activates something inside of you. You start to look at people like seeds. Seeds waiting to get sprouted. Seeds waiting to enter your tummy. And when that happens, you realize that you're somewhere deep. Somewhere very deep. Somewhere you don't want to be. Wanna guess where that is? chuckles BLOXFRUIT SECOND SEA laughs And Third SEA...? That's where sigmas like us chill at.

Just a question, whatās the difference between āloseā and ālooseā? How do I use them? English isnāt my native language if you couldnāt tell.
Thank you ā¤
āloseā means you are unsuccessful at something. like to āloseā a game.
It could also be used in the context of you are unable to find something. for example āi lose my house keys oftenā
ālooseā means something is not tightly fixed in place or could mean something does not fit tightly. for example āthe knot in the rope was looseā
Thanks! Appreciate it.
Hola
Lose (you would say as Loo-ze (think of the word booze, or loser), is when you canāt find something or you donāt win, like losing a race or losing your keys!
But loose (you would say as Loo-s, think of the name Lucy) without the Y) is when something isnāt tight, so if you put the lid on a bottle but it still falls off because it didnāt get put on all the way, it is loose. Or when your shoelace goes loose
lose is a verb, loose is an adjective
HOOOLA
loose is also a verb

Because c.ai is considered something that requieres You hearing because of the calls and audio of the characters. SO just enter the app and from up turn your mĆŗsic on again.
Does anyone know why my c.ai when I press discover (after using another bot) refresh? And why is there a learn English chat?
#šļø±cai-discussion is better for app related questions !
The reason there's a learn English chat is because some of the communities first language isn't English (including myself), and most bots use English. Sometimes it can be a bit confusing when a bot says something the user doesn't understand and it can be helpful to ask someone else.
Also, helpful to learn grammar in general.

hi
Hi can someone teach me how to speak with a British accent. And yes, i genuinely want to learn this.
the british accent has a few variations, but a good start is listening to native speakers and mimicking their tone and rhythm.
also, if you wanna speak with a british accent, youāve gotta pay attention to how they stress words and where the intonation goes up or down. sometimes the ārā at the end of words is softer or even dropped, like ābetterā sounding more like ābettahā. just listen a lot.
I see. Yeah that makes sense. š Thanks

Ive only been to asia (because im originally from there) and europe but i really want to go to the Americas

Ah, i live in a germany- bordering country
So what you think about brazilian phonk and montagems and stuff
Well, i dont like much the lyrics because it objectifies the womans and makes them look like objects you can use and throw away in the trash, but the beats are really cool!

Hai
what does ātheeā mean and when do we use it?
We donāt generally use or see the word ātheeā in everyday life, as it is an old-fashioned, poetic, or religious word for 'you', but it could be found in ancient texts such as the Bible.
tyvm!!!
Maybe.
The word ātheeā is for the singular direct object of a sentence.
As in, āSo, did he approach thee?ā
Itās important to understand that ātheeā and āyouā have seperate meanings. Where āyouā is the plural, ātheeā is singular. Lastly, ātheeā as a word has mostly dropped out due to its negative connotation starting around the 1600s and leading to a āword-banā in the 1700s. (The stereotypical association with religion is due to an outdated 400-year-old text [the KJV] that some people use. However, itās much better to use modern translations of the Bible.)
Wait, let me read that agaiā
No⦠it canāt beā¦
Dies due to religion stereotyping.
Religion stereotyping? How so?
I mentioned it could be found in ancient texts. I was merely using the Bible as an example of an ancient text.
alright
Anyway, the Canterbury Tales and Shakespeareās plays fit into this category.
Yes, of course. My bad, should've used a different example.
Nah, thatās fine.

Hi ! Recently I talked with an English friend and at the moment she said "Period"...what did it mean ?
It's means she agrees with what you said but the meaning of the word could change depending on the context
- Punctuation mark, a dot at the end of a sentence.
- A length or portion of time
- Menstrual period
Thank you to you two ! I was wondering why she talked about menstruations...š¤£š„¹

whatever the difference between its and it's
Itās is a shortened version of āIt isā for example instead of āIt is four dollars.ā You would write, āItās four dollars.ā While āItsā is a possessive pronoun, indicating ownership of something, meaning you would write, āIts her bag.ā
Sorry if that was rough to understand but thatās basically it.
Itās her bag*
āItāsā is a contraction of āit isā in spoken English.
āYes, it is red,ā could be written, āYes, itās red.ā
āItsā is a possessive pronoun.
āThis is its handle.ā
i know English is not everyone's first language and we all learn stuff everyday but
i can't help but cringe a little whenever "your" and "you're" are used interchangeably by some when they aren't meant to be utilized that way
same goes for "it's" and "its"
some people just don't feel like typing out an apostrophe in the middle so i kinda get that
can't get mad at anyone for that tho

what are the differences between muttering, mumbling and murmuring?
I would like to say mumbling is more where the words are softer and harder to hear, where your lips dont move apart much. Muttering to be just speaking to yourself. And murmuring i think is speaking soft to another person? I could be wrong so people can correct me but thats how i see it, if i am making sense
muttering ā low, barely audible voice
mumbling ā unclearly and softly
murmuring ā a soft, gentle, and often soothing voice, with a calm or affectionate tone

People do not know how contraptions works i fear š youre and your drive me crazy but i get a bit messed up with its and it's bcz it's at the least seems to be possessive form. You're doesn't š
Heluuu
I'm guilty of this, but it's not because I don't know how to use, I notice when I write it wrong. But it's more like a matter of my mother tongue beinf a fonetic language, so when it comes to saying the phrase I'm about to write in english in my mind "your" and "you're" tend to sound the same for me.
What's /silly, /ref meaning?
Idk Abt /silly, by I assume it means that the person is just obviously, being silly.
/Ref however means Reference if I remember correctly!! It means whatever the person said is a reference to something!! :33

What does it mean when people say "stim," in phrases like "vocal stim" or other phrases?
A stim is short for self-stimulatory behavior. They're usually repetitive and can be physical movements, sounds, or actions. It can be used as a way to regulate emotions :)
My guess was ''stimulant'' but shortened
more or less the same thing haha
in English, what does it mean when people react to me like this?
š or š
The skull emoji generally means "you are done for".
The sob emoji generally means "I am sobbing (that is, crying while making noise))".
basically both have the same meaning as "what the fuck"
ppl also use š„ and š
Oh I thought the wilted rose implied "you are not man enough" š¶
you know.. the "man" thing
wait i tought crying was just crying while making noise and sobbing was like very hard crying?
You can cry silently
not wrong but since meaning for emojis can be changed based on the context, pretty much still the same stuff
but isnt that then just called silent crying?
No. It is called crying, or if you are sophisticated in language, then weeping
ah okay thanks
no problem
Thing is, due to patriarchy, a lot of men, including me, have very little experience with crying, or soothing loved ones who are crying.
Which means we generally have no way to understand crying except by reading books and dictionaries.
That's one reason why you will see me using specific words to express different ways of crying.
i mean when I see the š and š and š” and š and š„ online by Gen Z 16 year olds like me.
Hello, just a quick question - what is š” used for? š
Ok here's the thing, the guy that told you it explained it poorly
š - Means dying of laughter, bruh moment, are you serious those type of things
š - means sobbing for pity, as in when someone posts something dumb, you can react this way
š” - I got no idea where you got that from so I dont know what this means
šš¾ - Could mean please or pray for pity
š„ - Giving pity towards someone when they said something dumb or giving yourself pity
But personally for me I got my own stickers I use

Why do people calling my mother "Mommy"? I sent a picture of her to my American friends, and they keep calling her 'Mommy'
@open valve ^
They probably think she's hot lmao
what.

Holaaaa
ive always been confused on what this means
š”
Whatās English?
most people think the word mommy has a strong sense to it, like a dom women from what I've seen. Or basically she's hot, so that's that
why do the people do no
oh no
First - don't send the pictures of your family members to any person outside your family, unless absolutely necessary (for example, genuine online bank registration forms).
"Mommy" is a slang used by some netizens.
They want her badly.
some youtuber told his subscribers to use that emoji as a laughing reaction instead of the normal laugh emojis, and so people are trying way too hard to make it popular.
Hi š
I'm new here
These kind of emojis are useful to tell which transport you are using.
"Sis, I am riding the aerial tramway š” in Japan! Gonna send you some good pics soon!"
Of course, not everyone uses every emoji.
"Mommy" can be used two ways-obviously the first one is a child calling their mother mommy. The other one is also referred to as MILFs- which basically means hot mothers. So I think they find her hot, unless they see her as a mother figure too
Btw you should probably get new friends..
guys what does sugarcoating or sugarcoat means?
Sugarcoating something is trying to make it sound better or acceptable, mostly something bad. People typically do this with the truth when they donāt want to be blunt.
Blunt is essentially the opposite of sugarcoating. Being blunt is when you directly say how you feel without adding any other nonsense to make it sound better, while sugarcoating does just that.
Sugarcoating example: āThe pattern doesnāt really suit you, but itās still cute!ā When you really, genuinely, donāt like it.
Blunt example: āItās ugly.ā
I hope this helps! I didnāt know a better way to describe it!!
thank you, it helps a lot
Youāre welcome!
What are taxs
The world works in a "give and take" manner.
Tax is something which citizens pay to the government, in return for availing goods and services from the government.
Oh okay
No problem
It's a new trend where people send the emoji instead of laughing ones. Kind of like "it's not a mistake, it's a āØļømasterpieceāØļø." If you remember that from like 2022? Yeah, it's all over again but with emojis!!
Does anyone know the difference between theyre, their, and theres? I get confused because english is my second language ā¹ļø
they're is a short for they are
like, "they're going to the park."
youre just talking about people doing sth or being sth
their means that sth belongs to them
like, "that is their dog."
its used to show ownership
there's is a short for there is or there has, like:
there's a cat outside. (there is)
there's been a mistake. (there has)
soooo um
theyāre = they are
their = belonging to them
thereās = there is / there has
(there has is more rarely used tho ig)
Why does English use ea and ou as in though and eat instead of just using one letter? and how do I know when to use them?
english uses spellings like ea or ou cuz of its history, it borrowed words from some other lnguages, and spelling was standardized atfer pronunciations had already started to change, soooo now we have weird combinations that dont really tend to match the pronunciation i guess (?)
cant be one letter cuz english didnt evolve with a consistent sound system, the ea or ou spellings wre used to show different sounds some time ago, but over time, pronunciation changed and spelling kinda didnt keep up, so it stayed like that
and you cant know when to use them, just gotta memorise it >_<
think i'm starting to come to the conclusion that english has no rules and i just need to memorize it š it's a big difference from my native language Swedish.
good thing is that its not thaaaaaaat hard to learn after all tbh
Hello everyone I'm a Filipino member and our subject rn is English and we are not allowed to speak Tagalog so please give me some tips so I could talk fluently while answering questions
watch and read english media regularly at your leisure
gramar is useles bots is can understood
grammar is useless, bots can understand*.
grammar is very useful for real life situations btw
watch american/british/australian movies
Within the confines of one's own room, or in informal settings, grammar can be ignored.
But the moment one steps into the public space or workplace or does something formal š grammar becomes very important, in whichever language you are speaking, reading, writing, and typing.
If you think about it, the First ever english teacher in the world, never went to school.
And that kinda pisses me off.
What does bbg means
Hi (I would like to sincerely apologize for any mistakes or misunderstandings that might be caused by my flawed use of the English language.
I fear you speak better than me and I am a native speaker š
This is a copypasta bro
it's just a tram
lately it's been associated with the action of laughing like how we use the skull emoji (š) for that as well
though it probably won't stay that way for too long
like how a couple years ago people started using the chair emoji to imply laughter and not even half a year later it already died out
even shorter than that, i think
What the heck is Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis, i just learn english dude šš
Heyy!
Thatās a fair question and even and a English person I find that a bit ridiculous for a medical term that literally just means a lung disease for inhaling very fine ash and sand dust
its gibberish to me
yokoso watashi no soul socity
NEZUKO!!!
Yep, that's the harsh history. The opportunistic ones composed grammar books for each and every language.
Hey
Pneumonia- means lungs
Coni- means breathing related
-Osis means an abnormal condition
Microscopic = very small
Silica = sand particles
Volcano = could mean ash or could mean a process inside the body, not really a medical term
To be honest, that is an invented word.
From Google Dictionary.
a word invented (probably by Everett M. Smith, president of the National Puzzlers' League) in imitation of very long medical terms.
I see
I was js joking š
Oh xd
I find myself inquiring as to the meanings of 'ts' and 'pmo.' It appears that I often encounter the youth employing these terms, leaving me rather perplexed.
āTsā translates to āthisā or āthis shitā in youth language patterns. Furthermore, āpmo,ā oftentimes following āts,ā is deciphered to be āpiss/pissing/pisses me off.ā
I've often heard the word "oblivious" but i still cant understand what exactly does it mean or how we use it
The word "oblivious" means completely unaware or not conscious of something happening around you.
⢠She was oblivious to the fact that everyone was staring at her new haircut.
What does sh!tpost, copyright and etc etc mean?
Sh!tposting is a term that means posting things just because you have them, or for no other reason beyond it's comedic value. It could also mean a post that isn't context-relevant to the conversation.
Copyright is a law that forbids people from claiming other people's work as their own, or making copies of their work beyond parodies.
etc. means et cetera, which is Latin for "And the rest", meaning that there are more examples to be had, but it would waste time explaining them.
@subtle tendon I hope that answers your question.
Any other questions?
thx
Ohh, thanks
What does icl ts pmo mean?

āHiā is often used in context of casual greeting, being a short form of āHelloā.
I have the feeling that the original question was not meant to be answered.
