Age verification is coming to pretty much every app sooner or later. I’m not convinced by the claim that age verification itself breaks privacy laws, since no one is forced to verify.

And even if their systems were hacked and IDs or photos leaked, it wouldn’t solve anything, it would just harm users more than c.ai itself. Other apps have already been hacked with data leaks, but if the law requires a verification system, they have no choice but to comply. Otherwise, the app would be taken down and c.ai would face even more lawsuits. Want someone to blame? Blame the parents who give their underage children completely free access to the internet and then, when something bad happens, they sue the app itself, even though it wasn’t the app’s fault, but the parents’.

I already explained in my previous message that I don’t think this counts as "breaking privacy law," since they ask for your ID and you’re not forced to provide it. If you have a few minutes, you can read the definition on wikipedia. (I can send you the link in dm).

From what I understand, a privacy violation occurs when your data is used or processed without your permission. Since c.ai asks for your consent and you’re not required to verify, it shouldn’t be considered a violation of privacy law. But, again, I’m not a lawyer, just a guy who read the definition.

Now I think we should stop discussing about this, since one of the rules is that "all content must be posted in their respective channels," and we’re clearly not doing that. Let’s not get nuked from the server
