You can either rewind back to the message that has your ideal response, that way it'll return back into character, or you can just edit it simply. Though, rewind is still my best go-to for that problem. Remember, AI is heavily reliant on the user's prompt, so it will listen no matter.

• Even if you tell it to go back to its character, it may confirm that it does, but its memory doesn’t extend that far and will still follow the examples provided in the messages it sent. (Completely far away from the character personality.)
