In general all I can suggest is that your antagonist be a foil to your characters. Your characters must have some reason they are clashing with this villain, and the villain must have some reason they've done the things they've done.

For example, let's say your villain is someone that killed another's dad in a war or something. You could expand the villain's story, give them clear PTSD and make it clear that they didn't want to do what they did, but that they had to. Or alternatively, for a pure evil villain, make them the one that started the war, make them a charismatic liar and a dictator.

Don't simply copy a villain from what you like if that wouldn't work for your story, tailor the archetypes and tropes you use for the story you're writing.
