My personal favorite type of Vampires (Depending on how you count vampires) are Draugar and Strigoi, both are undead raised by rage or demonic force that seek to disrupt the living. Draugar especially were considered active threats, to the point there are stories of entire towns being displaced by one Draug.

Oh, the worst part about Draugar is that, though they were undead, they were still technically the person whose soul had mostly left the body, except due to how the Viking soul worked, their rage had been left behind in their body, along with their skill. So if you ever got close enough to a Draugr to fight it, it was more than likely an incredibly skilled warrior.

It's more accurate to call them revenants, European undead spirits, which most Vampires are also a variant of. (Most, since there are vampire legends outside of Europe.)

You have to either burn their bodies, or cut their head off and place it on their backside. But either option puts you into range of the draug, so you have to fight it either way, and it will fight back. It had no other weaknesses aside from divine intervention, which was rare. Luckily Draugar generally still were limited to what they could do in life when fighting, unfortunately that means they were probably incredibly strong since most Draugr stories talk about them as warriors who died angry and past their prime, now with their prime skills returned.
