Currently, it's around... 3000 tokens, give or take? (or so I heard, at least). So it does not account for most of the information that is put into AI's description once it reaches the 3000-token limit, and the AI only registers (roughly) about a couple dozen messages from the past, before 'forgetting' the oldest ones, one at a time, and attributing the most recent one instead.

3000 for roleplay purposes is pretty damn low. It may not be the exact number, but given the memory issues that many people seem to be experiencing, I would not be surprised if it was somewhere in that range.

THIS. when I first heard about c.ai I was so excited to finally be able to do the rps I wanted without having to wait hours, days or even weeks for my rp partner to respond, to be able to talk to anyone I wanted without looking for someone willing to rp them, the length, etc.

And I enjoyed it for a while! But then as the months went by, I found myself wanting to go out more, doing more things. So I limited my screen time on character.ai, got back into weekly horseback riding lessons and got into a new hobby of making bracelets with beads to distract me from screen time. Now I’m about to start my own small business! C.ai actually made me want to go out more and have more of a life.

...I don't think you understand what I meant by "tokens." I'm not talking about a currency here or some sort of paywall limit. Tokens are basically THE memory of the AI, and every AI uses them. Whether it be ChatGPT, Copilot, Character.ai, or whatever other sites you use. This is not an update; it was designed with tokens.

an AI's token limit here implies that though you could input 15k worth of text into the description, the AI will only process a certain chunk out of that, that being the token limit. (which is why some AIs are botched even though all of the information is put there)

With low tokens, it also limits the amount the AI memorizes, so let's say the limit is 100 messages (not the actual amount; this is purely for explanatory purposes). The AI will register 100 of your messages, but once the limit is reached, it'll forget the oldest one out of the 100, and it will replace it with your most recent message. This is why long-term roleplays are awful since it has forgotten most of what you've built up by then and only remembers the surface level of the recent stuff.

This is why I suggest MORE tokens. It'll make the AI better, and it'll make the memory better.
