#vencord installation on mac support
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
ok, I hope this banner will stop in a thread.
i don't use a mac but the website has a link for a mac installer... what seems to be the issue?
k?
that seems to be what it says?
I close Discord on my Mac. It’s still says it.
What do you want me to do?
Do you want me to move the file and try again?
i don't know, i'm here for support too. maybe check what version you have... I would kill the process and start it in the terminal to see what is going wrong if you can't restart it notmally.
that's what I did and now i know what's wrong.
What do you want me to run in the terminal?
$ vesktop
but make sure there are no other vesktops jobs running.
do $ ps aux |grep vesktop
Does it tell you anything?
I am restarting my computer right now
$ is the promt in bash. same as your % take tem out and run the commands ...
Huh
anyway, if you restarted then you don't need to kill the processes unless it starts automatically...
and just start it in the terminal with vesktop

opt's probably not in the path?
see if it's in /opt/Vesktop: ls -la /opt/Vesktop/vesktop

Does it tell you anything?
sorry, i don't know where it is on a Mac.
What are you looking for?
the vesktop binary
mine is here:
$ ll /opt/Vesktop/vesktop
.rwxr-xr-x 200M 24 Dec 23:27 /opt/Vesktop/vesktop
Can I use that one?
you don't have it... try this: find / -iname "vesktop" -type f 2>/dev/null
Is doing something
well, if you know how to figure out where the underlying file is in the GUI, that'll work too.

find / -iname "vesktop" -type f 2>/dev/null
no results?
No
also, use `for single lines of code` and
``` for
blocks
of code
```
i doubt it, but if you didn't get it from their website, maybe?
I got it from the website
it's not starting after a reboot?
Nope
What one’s first

i thought macs were more linux than that; they're not.

Probably won't hurt...but I'm out of ideas. try chatgpt. if you can run it in the terminal, it may provide some useful information. sorry, i should have given up when you said mac.
