You need a plugin to be able to assign icons to channels easily

It does have a list of channel names which it automatically assigns icons though that's not its main purpose

does replugged have more or less customisability than vencord in general? as a user, i find that vencord has a tonne of plugins and userplugins to choose from

yeah, i mostly just wanted to see the difference between client mods since it seems very strange to me that there are so many client mods for a simple communication app while other apps like slack that have more users still don't get as many client mods (tho i may be underestimating discord users ability to touch grass/leave their pc)
