this is what happened when I removed sid and tried to update
okay
so its trying to continue resolving what you've asked it to do because you cancelled it half way through
I didn't tho, it failed
what should I do to fix it?

stop pinging me dude
doesn't mention the removing packages
I was just rtying to reply to your suggestion
rule 5
it was just a reply
but I can't reply to him in this thread
then dont
but whatever it is, it tried upgrading other packages which were incompatible with other ones you have installed on your system
which includes your desktop environment
what am I supposed to do then
okay
is this your full log
full log from today
everything under todays date
I can't send the entier one as it's over the character limit
upload your entire terminal log as a file
of the terminal I used to call the command? the entire command output didn't even fit into the terminal but I'll send what is still there
nevermind, that also got pushed up by the commands I used to update after that happened
sudo dpkg -P libuim8

the package I tried first said it's a dependency that it needs
what package
what happens when you run apt install --simulate xserver-xorg-core
libstdc++-13-dev
and after you tried installing libuim8 it started removing everything?
yeah
note that I added sid to the repositories
remove it
neofetch says Debian GNU/Linux trixie/sid x86_64
what
probably some codename

oh.
yeah i was looking up the codenames because i dont recognise sid or trixie
you added the development repositories to your already quite instable debian installation
how can I undo that?
did you remove the line from your repos file?
why did that even start uniinstalling everything
yes and tried to update after removing
which lead to this
because you told it to upgrade a package from the development repositories, because its newer there
apt install -f --simulate
and that package doesnt work with your current installs
try running that
so it tries to upgrade everything to acheive what you told it to do
disable auto translate (the green translate icon in the message bar)
because he already started the installation it wants to finish it
or
actually
oh wait no it has changed the version numbers that it wants
okay
apt-mark showhold
libreoffice-l10n-en-gb:amd64 libkdecorations2-5v5:amd64 libkf5wallet-data:amd64 libreoffice-l10n-en-za:amd64 goverlay:amd64 libkf5quickaddons5:amd64 reportbug:amd64 libkf5konq6:amd64 breeze:amd64 libkf5mailtransportakonadi5:amd64 libqt5pas1:amd64
no output from that
apt remove -f --simulate
@dusty chasm i guess just autoclean and pray at this point?
"pray"
๐ญ
@naive latch
torvalds wants nothing to do with this appleskull~1
disable auto translate (the green translate icon in the message bar)
i suggest you just reinstall debian
I can't do that I have a ton of stuff
how do I do that?
can the guide at least be updated to not just say "google it yourself lol"
no
real nice developers
so you don't want to help but only want to fuck aroudn
it'll come around for you
ok well we were trying to be nice and help you fix your stuff even though that's not what we're meant to do, so
we arent here to fix people's linux distributions when they were too impatient to wait for a volunteer to try and help them out
it was your fault you decided to add an unstable development repo to your OS, not ours, because we never EVER said to do that
we do not know how to write fix guides for every distribution
ubuntu is the only one we reliably know how to fix
debian != ubuntu
i'm sorry that you broke your stuff trying to use our software, but it's not our fault when you're the one going out and adding random upstream repositories and trying to install random stuff without fully understanding what you're doing, don't you dare shift the blame onto us
the guide literally says flatpak is the official way, if it doesnt work, the solution would be to ask us about it and we can collaboratively work on a solution, but we would have NEVER said to do what you did
