#

this is what happened when I removed sid and tried to update

urban hearth
#

okay

#

so its trying to continue resolving what you've asked it to do because you cancelled it half way through

naive latch
#

what should I do to fix it?

urban hearth
#

the original cancel

#

thats what i mean

#

its still trying to resolve it

#

okay

#

stop pinging me dude

naive latch
#

doesn't mention the removing packages

naive latch
dusty chasm
urban hearth
#

what the hell is this package

#

some sort of ime i guess

naive latch
urban hearth
#

but whatever it is, it tried upgrading other packages which were incompatible with other ones you have installed on your system

#

which includes your desktop environment

naive latch
urban hearth
#

okay

naive latch
#

full log from today

urban hearth
#

what?

#

that package says its not even installing itself

naive latch
#

I can't send the entier one as it's over the character limit

dusty chasm
naive latch
#

nevermind, that also got pushed up by the commands I used to update after that happened

urban hearth
#

okay

#

well

#

note that I added sid to the repositories

what

version of debian are you running

dusty chasm
naive latch

what

but not sure if that broke because of adding the repository

idk

#

oh.

#

yeah i was looking up the codenames because i dont recognise sid or trixie

#

you added the development repositories to your already quite instable debian installation

naive latch
#

how can I undo that?

urban hearth
#

did you remove the line from your repos file?

naive latch
#

why did that even start uniinstalling everything

naive latch
urban hearth
dusty chasm
#

apt install -f --simulate

urban hearth
#

and that package doesnt work with your current installs

dusty chasm
urban hearth
#

so it tries to upgrade everything to acheive what you told it to do

graceful bobcatBOT
# naive latch

disable auto translate (the green translate icon in the message bar)

urban hearth
#

or

#

actually

#

oh wait no it has changed the version numbers that it wants

#

okay

@dusty chasm i guess just autoclean and pray at this point?

#

i suggest you just reinstall debian

warm kestrel
#

no

naive latch
#

real nice developers

#

so you don't want to help but only want to fuck aroudn

#

it'll come around for you

urban hearth
#

we arent here to fix people's linux distributions when they were too impatient to wait for a volunteer to try and help them out

#

it was your fault you decided to add an unstable development repo to your OS, not ours, because we never EVER said to do that

#

we do not know how to write fix guides for every distribution

#

ubuntu is the only one we reliably know how to fix

#

debian != ubuntu

#

i'm sorry that you broke your stuff trying to use our software, but it's not our fault when you're the one going out and adding random upstream repositories and trying to install random stuff without fully understanding what you're doing, don't you dare shift the blame onto us

#

the guide literally says flatpak is the official way, if it doesnt work, the solution would be to ask us about it and we can collaboratively work on a solution, but we would have NEVER said to do what you did
