No not really. Pretty much a handful of people in the world know how to make a good video encoder. The only reason x265 is as good as it is and still beats svt in some scenarios despite being a last gen’s codec is because mediacore collaborated with the original X264 developers who pioneered psycovisual based coding tools.

It’s why libaom and google encodes suck so bad. They targeted PSNR that has almost zero correlation with human perception. Basically they’re retarded and don’t know what they’re doing.

The biggest psycovisual contributors to SVT haven’t even been Netflix or Intel or Google, it’s been randoms from the av1 discord and av1 for dummies.
