#Hills you would die on
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
I will never die on any hill. That's something I will never change my mind about.
Hotdog is not a sandwich and never will be. If you tear the hotdog bun into two congrats you have 2 slices of bread and can make a sandwich but a standard hotdog bun is connected or a single bun split down the middle keeping it as one piece.
Bros cooking over here
Aight here’s mine -
2014 Godzilla is the best Godzilla film w/ minus zero being a close 2nd, followed by shin Godzilla
But really - 2014 is the best Godzilla movie
What do you consider a sub?
If the bread isn’t fully separated how can it be a sandwich
“Oh but it’s a submarine sandwich”. And is a peanut a nut?
It’s a taco
So this isn't a sandwich
Or this?
Nope
See how it’s one slice of bread?
The top might be can’t tell if it’s seperated
What about an open faced club sandwich
If it has 1 slice of bread it’s toast
It's only toast if it's been toasted
Just because it has sand which in the name doesn’t classify it as a sandwich
Good point I was referring to the image above tho, where 1 slice of bread on the bottom is considered toast
Lasagna?
By is a wheat dough cooked in a sheet pasta for 1 form* but a tortilla sandwichable
Huh
Tortilla and lasagne are effectively the same.
Put cheese etc in the middle
1 is a sandwich, one isn't in your definition
It's inconsistent
One’s bread. One’s pasta
Tortilla isn't bread
Then I’m wrong neither are a sandwich
No yeast, no leavener
Different cooking method
What about ham sandwiched by 2 pieces of lettuce
Or cucumber
Not bread I don’t see your point
Sandwich is also a adjective
Or verb fuck bro I suck at grammar
Both
Yea
SandwichING
sandwichABLE
Are you satisfied with accepting that a hotdog isn’t a sandwich yet
If your definition is strictly based on 2 distinct pieces of leavened bread
I dont share that belief, so i accept that we will disagree
National Hot Dog and Sausage Council Announces Official Policy On ‘Hot Dog as Sandwich’ Controversy
Limiting the hot dog’s significance by saying it’s ‘just a sandwich’ is like calling the Dalai Lama ‘just a guy’. Perhaps at one time its importance could be limited by forcing it into a larger sandwich category (no disrespect to Reubens and oth...
But it's not JUST a sandwich
It's a subset of sandwich
Just like the Dalai Lama is a subset of humans
I have a much broader definition of sandwich, 1 eatable substance inside or on top of a eatable carbohydrate
k
Pizza
thats just straight up anything with bread
folding a piece ofbread over does not make it a sammy
All fall into the subset of sandwich
wrong
they are all on the same subset level as sandwich but there is something more encompassing
Is this a sandwich then?
its sliced bread
you can call it a bread sandwich if you want
but only if theres more than 2
i dont see what point youre making
thats a stack of bread
not everything that has bread is automatically a sandwich
So, it's and eatable thing between 2 pieces of bread
So if i cut the top one in half and put it on the bottom it's a bread sandwich
why not
i mean we can debate if the filling makes it a sammy but whats more important is two seperated slices of bread
What if i cut it before it was baked?
then its 2 seperate loaves????
like huh
its in liquid form as well before its baked lol
not liquid
But bake it with stuff in the middle
like a donut?
that image answers every question
you can call and lable something a sandwich like a submarine sandwich but that doesnt classify it as a sammy
just as a peaNUT is not a nut
since they are all seperated you made a tray sammy congrats!
i think its hard to tell
But they were baked together and the dough balls are seperate
It's by your earlier definition 2 loaves of bread with stuff in the middle, uncut, not a sandwich
if im laying on a blanket looking at the sky am i sandwiched by my blanket?
i mean its just clearly cut i dont see what youre getting at
how else would they get the fillings inside
It's not
It's balls of dough on the bottom, then meat and cheese, then balls of dough on top
thats just not how those are made lol
It's bun | meat| cheese | bun
It 100% is, see how the top buns grow together as they were baked together
Get the recipe for Baked Hawaiian Sandwiches at http://allrecipes.com/recipe/229038/baked-hawaiian-sandwiches/
Be the star of the next gathering you attend when you bring these mouthwatering party sandwiches. Slice a large bag of Hawaiian bread rolls in half, then fill with honey-cured ham, Swiss cheese, smoked turkey and thin provolone, and pl...
Not the same as my image, and for thought purposes irrelevant
if you put a ball of dough and then meat and cheese and then dough on top it straight up just wouldnt cook
evenly
Like what? I guess cinnamon buns are physically impossible to you
heres your recipe lmao
It's a picture to illustrate my hypothesis
thats not two balls of dough on top of each other
dawg have you ever made bread?
like straight up
thats one piece of bread split in half... to show the center
So pockets of space on the bottom layer make it impossible
like i just dont kow what youre arguing
if theres two seperate loaves of bread in between meat and cheese why would that not be a sammy?
Layer of dough, layer of sandwich filling, layer of dough
Bake
Is it a sandwich
idk if it would be a very good one but as long as the two seperate layers of dough dont connect and make it a calzone
But it's not cut bread, it's by your earlier definition 2 loaves
And you said earlier 2 loaves with stuff in the middle isn't a sandwich
ok
You are being inconsistent
^^
"Slices of bread"
you are reading too much when i said two seperated slices of bread. I meant that they need to be seperated
the more important part is they are seperated not split like a hotdug bun
^^
you can call whatever you want a sandwich idc
It's bread with things between it
i really dont care enough to argue with you anymore tbh. Ive made my point and its up to you whether or not you want to accept
If a monte cristo is a sandwich than that lasagne is one also
I'm not arguing, I'm trying to find the limits of your definition
we are arguing but its not a bad thing we had a good discussion
And some of them are arbitrary and inconsistent
but i just dont care enough to run through every case of bread with you. If its 2 seperated pieces of bread its a sammy
any other questions refer to this figure
No, argument is illogical screaming, debate is a more apt definition
its both kinda
im aruging to show my side and we are both debating idk
ive been using this as procrastination lol
But there are so many questions. Slice of bread with butter on it (not toasted) by itself bread. Slap a 2nd slice on top - butter sandwich?
What’s confusing about that
You are adding the vital part of the sandwich. The second piece of bread
Tortilla is bread.
Oh my gwah monkey bread my beloved.
Alright smart guys, I got a sandwich for ya.
This is the level of philosophy I want to see - the stuff that really matters - the classification of sandwiches
if anyone speaks another language that has multiple words for sandwiches or something similiar would be very interested in hearing how this argument would fare in another language. because these are english classifications
Yeah sandwiches don't make sense in the same way in Dutch
Sandwiches are far more significant than that shit we call "hot dogs" 😤
Has to be edible with my teeth over the top and bottom by comfortably holding it in one or two hands.
Otherwise it is a fatwich.
Also needs to have some food material other than bread.
Yep that's a sandwich (not one I would eat though).
Please explain
We usually talk about a slice of bread (boterham) even when we use 2 with stuff inbetween, although some might say double slice of bread. We might even call it what usually means a bun.
It's similar to how scissors/pants are a pair in English, whereas in Dutch, it's singular.
Do you still use an adjective to describe the type of sandwich/bread like turkey (whatever it is in Dutch) boterham
Interesting
Sometimes yeah, but usually it's like a slice of bread with X
Torpenhow hill*

Agreed
Worse, yes. And bland.
It's called Oceania, not Australia
Australia is just a part of Oceania
(Australia is not a continent, Oceania is)
That is the greatest thing the Brits have ever made
Tofu has many textures. From essentially yogurt to tougher than pasta
Tofu is a vehicle for other flavours
That's like saying pasta is worse than mid
Just because you haven't fully explored something doesn't mean it's shit
"I had 1 pizza once, it was covered in anchovies and chocolate, all pizza is shit"
Hill that I would die on: All 4 seasons are great
Heterogeneity is important
I'll join you on that hill.... I totally didn't need to search it up 😅
This is not the "Tofu is mid, change my mind" forum.
This is the "Tofu is mid, I will die on this hill" forum.
I agree, but posting it here literally means they're not open to this information 🤣
Im just testing whether they would actually die on that hill
if you don't want any discussion, just a list of shit why post it?
Unless you are a Quora bot looking to assimilate an article out of this forum
Hahaha I love the Quora bot idea
That's what a bot WOULD say
Waffle fries/curly fries over tater tots>
Insane take
Pink not Magenta
I did the work for y'all, it is a shade of magenta called Purple Pizzazz
EXACTLY. Magenta is more dark/red
Pink is redder than magenta by definition 💀
nope
Hey you're allowed to be wrong in this thread 🙏
Nah can confirm tofu is worse than mid
lucky you 😉
don't buy that plain white tofu, buy smoked and seasoned tofu, that one's actually dope
I went to a like healthy chipotle style place. As in you build your own bowl but it was like lettuce and rice and healthy ingredients and I got tofu because it was cheaper and I wanted to confirm I was right lol. It was like a red chili miso. The taste was good but the taste and texture of the tofu wasn’t good. And you can tell me it was the place but wherever I buy tofu I don’t enjoy it. Could be a mental thing
okay fine 😅
The mushy texture I can see being an issue for some. You can get fried crispy tofu that is like pork rinds, or tofu skins that are the texture of french toast
It's like saying "I hate corn" after only trying frozen kernels and on-the-cob.
Try the popcorn, the tortilla, the corn chip, corn bread, bourbon
Uranus should be ur-anus
1
It's bloody hilarious and a lot of people enjoy the absurdity
2
It's named after the element uranium pronounced ur-ay-knee-um
So why not
Ur-ay-nus?
Or I guess if we're gonna pronounce it uran-us then we might aswell start calling uranium uran-ee-um
Dawg I’m allowed to dislike stuff goddamn
Uranus was named after the Greek god. And uranium was named after the planet not the other way around
Yes, but your basis for "hating" it is founded in ignorance
If you cannot grasp that stop talking to me
I'll leave the facts up for others that are more open minded about the true options in the world, not dismissive based on single interactions
In Greek the Titan (proto god) is pronounced more like Ooo-ra-nos
So ooo-ra-nium would be more faithful
Likewise Titan is ti-tan (like tick) so Ti-tan-nium would be more faithful than tye-tae-nium as most of NA says
I’ve tried multiple variations of tofu before 😭 why can’t you accept I don’t like it
People dislike corn, and they don’t like tortillas it’s really not a hard concept to grasp that people have different preferences
Here you go buddy
Any one of those excuses
If somebody says they don’t like tomatoes is it really a hard concept to understand that maybe they have tried different varieties and variations like soup and ketchup and still don’t like it?
So in final, my hill I die on is tofu is mid
i like oo ra nium, we should call it that
you gotta act suprised every time you say it tho, oo! ranium!
Ooh there's a hill to die on. Ketchup 🤮
Not liking ketchup is understandable - I like it but see why others wouldn’t
I had certain food I didn't like, and certain foods I could barely get down my throat. I was convinced it was just a mental block, underexposure caused by parents, or badly prepared variants. I just kept eating all of them and I like most of them now (but I am lucky that I don't have the extra bitterness buds gene)
This is consistent with the single hill I would die on, haha
Nooo stop everybody HAS to like the same foods regardless of regional preferences
I would die on Mt Everest if I tried to climb it probably. Pretty big hill.
Starcraft Broodwar is the greatest competitive video game of all time (that I know of).
Jojo is the best show of all time.
This is going to be a difficult hill to die on because Breaking Bad also exist. But I'll stick to my guns.
ATLA 😤
What are you going to do about it?
Just 'cause it's not better. Inferiority complex fr.
I'm going to strongly disagree with your second-rate opinion.
The hill I die on is the in game BB estimation formula and in game rank formula suck!
At least it isn't bottom-rate 😉
Marine environments are way cooler then terrestrial :))))
Separating art from artist (or not if you want to have a spicey argument) Kanye is the greatest musical artist of all time.
And please do not argue if you have not heard atleast 2-3 of his albums. I will glady listen to anything anyone says is better.
I think there's so many ways to evaluate greatness in music, like virtuosity, dedication, societal impact, or even financial success. So in that sense there's no single "greatest". But if there were, it'd probably be Bach 😇
I didn't see Bach featured on My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. Kinda suspicious.
I also didn't see Jeffrey Epstein in Suicide Squad
That's because he was murdered and those guilty will never face consequences on this plane of existence.
Wrote a whole essay on this lol
Really? XD I would love to read it.
Bach's okay, I'm more of a Beethoven.
I certainly like some modern instrumental music too. Give me a bit of Lindsey Sterling any day.
Not qualified to talk on Kanye and honestly idgaf. Not really my kind of music anyway.
Getting back to Bach. Bach is structurally brilliant but not the greatest music to listen to.
Interesting! With the preference for cold hard knowledge etc, I would've expected you to lean Bach too
If anything his music is bit too much 🤭 Structural brilliancy can be taken too far.
Replying to this comment 🙂
Verbatim what I said before I tried.
I'll listen to virtually anything at least once as long as it isn't completely disgusting or makes my ears bleed.
I can accept certain levels of both of those
There was definitely a time of my life when I was in to Bach though. These days I don't go out of my way to listen to music nearly as much.
Like I'm not sitting down and specifically playing songs very often.
Wait do we not have a music channel in this server? I guess we have coopted this into the new music channel 🗿
Album named "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy". Kanye's Magnum Opus. If you don't like atleast one song I'll, ill... I'll do something, idk what yet though. Make sure you listen uncensored.
That sounds like Kanye /s 😂
If you follow closely the whole album tells a story.
But also tbf I'm more of like a Simon and Garfunkel guy. I grew up on a lot of music like that because of my dad.
I suppose it was interesting. I wouldn't say it's better from what a lot of other people are doing or have already done. It has its moments and its flaws and downsides. I can respect the creative direction and the artistry as a person like that myself but I don't know that it extends beyond that level of appreciation having put in the effort to listen to, experience, and judge all 13 songs.
Australia's strict rules on preventing invasive species introduction should be more present in other countries, whitenose disease, ash dieback and countless other examples are easily preventable
Any song that stood out to you/do you have a favorite?
You should listen to the Dissect podcast of it. It’s this guy that basically does long form analysis of songs and stuff goes real in depth to each song. He did a season on Spotify about MBDTF
ill have to check it out
Although, even though I mention MBDTF alot, its not even my favorite Ye album, thats a tossup for me between TLoP, KSG, and late registration
Hm what do you think?
If you put 3 die hard Kanye fans in a room, one would say Runaway is thier favorite, one would say Gorgeous is theirs, and the other would say Devil in a New Dress. Knowing you enjoy classical im going to go closer to maybe the raw emotion and music of Runaway or Blame Game. But it could just as easily be All of the lights. I would also guess you didn't like the more Rap heavy ones such as Dark Fantasy, So Appalled, Gorgeous, or Monster as beautiful as they are.
If you said Devil in a New Dress I would be pleasantly surprised.
I love power. Idk if it’s my favorite in the album but so good
I was thinking All of the Lights, yes. More of my style. Also clearer audio is always good on me. I have trouble hearing things in many songs.
I enjoy classical yes but if you took a stroll through my music so to speak you would find mostly rock and various versions of metal-like music. On that note there is always Trans-Siberian Orchestra (it occurred to me yesterday but I didn't say anything).
I know Elton John did some of the vocals on that song, I think he also helped with the music aswell.
I listened to it again just now, well okay, hm I can see it. It's interesting. First half yeah is mostly the rap not so much musical but I've always appreciated storytelling and stories that doesn't so much bother me. The real music picks up in the latter half, I don't know how I feel about the transition there, the second rap feels mismatched if still on theme. A little judgmental 🤣
But yeah all the lights in hell. It evokes a good imagery. It doesn't hurt that I knew I'd heard that particular song before.
Also I didn't actually hate monster, it um sticks to the fantasy theme well and more closely than most of the other songs conjuring to the mind vampires and zombies and the like, to me a song is soundscape of visuals to the imagination. Sometimes that is motions and movement other times it is narrative and imagery as in this case. Dark Fantasy felt a bit of a boring intro piece on the first go through it, it certainly isn't very musical and it's not trying to be. I can appreciate it setting the stage and the tone and like I said I like story.
The second half is very different when you follow the "story of the album. It's art, so anyone can interpret it however they want but this is my interpretation. The intro few songs is Kanye establishing himself as a master rapper and music creator, dark fantasy, gorgeous, power, all of the lights. The "story" picks up with monster. It's a fictional tale about actual monsters, but it's about kanye becoming so rich and powerful he is a monster. Which leads to so Appalaed, which is what it's like having everything at the top, where nothing means anything to you anymore. Which turns to Devil in a New Dress which is Kanye falling in love, and not knowing how it feels. Then tragedy turns with Runaway, him telling the love of his life to Runaway from him, because he knows it will end badly, he will rebound on a power trip, and the only thing she can do in Runaway from him. I interpret the second half of Runaway as what the person he's talking to actually hears, the first half is clear, the 2nd half is muffled, and they don't hear him say Runaway. He'll of a life is kanye relapsing. Everything he said would happen in Runaway happens, and he turns back into a monster. Which eventually causes a breakup and leads to Blame Game. She's pissed at him, but he said what was going to happen, and she chose to stay. They "blame" eachother. And then the ending is just him confessing his love to Kim Kardashian.
Would have to go back through Runaway and and Gorgeous. I remember not particularly liking gorgeous.
I'm really happy you gave it an honest try, thank you for being open minded and im happy you got something out of it
If you have any recommendations for me please share 😄
Sorry for typos, on my phone
Right I remember that. The individual vampires and zombies and mummies and whatever all mixed into metaphor of his position and rise to fame.
If you ever want any more recommendations, let me know. I would always recommend MBDTF to non hiphop/rap people because I think its his most "approachable" album and what got me into Hip hop to begin with. It's not even my favorite
And not just Kanye xD^
Well idk how you felt about classical you seemed to be negative on it a little bit. But like I said Trans-Siberian Orchestra (uh ignore the Christmas music I think) is a different kind of take on that so worth a listen. It's been a long time since I've listened to it but I used to like Two Steps From Hell somewhat. I believe I already mentioned Lindsey Sterling somewhere earlier in this thread. Um modern string quartets, Vitamin String Quartet, uh 4 Cellos or whatever they're called, stuff like that is fun. I like Vivaldi. Also Canon in D is a beautiful piece of music to just listen through and appreciate every once in a while. Getting to the rock/metal/pop/etc side could be a very long and involved conversation. Linkin Park is up there for me but I get tired and annoyed of the same music pretty fast and hard so I move around or on. I also spend long periods just not actively listening to music much or at all. Like right now I'm on the ending phase of like a 3-ish year break from music. So it is refreshing to get back into it as an experience/pasttime.
See what new fun there is while I was away 😆
I don't dislike classical, I just never really got it into/had influence to get into it. Linkin Park is great. I'm also into a bunch of 70's/80's/90's rock and even a little early 2000's.
I was never a musically inclined person until recently. I listened to rock I liked in the car and at work, parties and other places. But my new job as of about a year now let's me use headphones and I've been listening to much more. It's really easy for me to just throw an album on while working and enjoy the whole thing.
I'll give some of your recommendations a try and get back to you 🙂
For Lindsey Sterling the true experience is the music videos. She's a violin dancer 😁
Yeah some crazy skill seeing her pull all these tricks while playing the instrument.
Kind of dangerous I remember hearing. Easy to injure yourself doing it.
Of course Canon in D is stereotypical "wedding music" that sort of famously upbeat classical. But I think this fails to appreciate its intricacy and universality. While Vivaldi is almost exclusively known for his Four Seasons.
I have a creative side I don't show the internet as much. I used to write fiction a lot as a kid. But I see things like math, science, and philosophy in a similar way. They aren't only "cold hard knowledge" and strictly or purely rational. Argument, experiment, practice and exploration are creative and involve wonderfully sophisticated design. This informs my approach as a gamer too, this balance of letting things be an experience to traverse though and shaping for build or optimization. Uh, you might call them goal oriented versus exploration or learning oriented. But really I see them as design oriented versus creative or performance application. To me a creative design speaks for itself as something to look at and experience and appreciate. That is my relationship with the artistic side of things.
You'll see a lot of other people who are seen as "rational" or "scientific/scientists" or into knowledge/academics are very similar in these terms or have similar backgrounds as creatives. The stereotype of painting them as bland and uninterested in a world outside of facts is patently untrue.
That's not at all what I was implying 😇 I have a background in maths and biochemistry, and I like technical complexity in music. Furthermore, I've seen you focus on technicalities in language, similar to how I like to look at it. That's why it was slightly unexpected 😋
I promise I'll listen to your recommendations sometime this weekend @worldly shoal. But I was just talking to my friend and I watched this video about my actual favorite Rap album of all time "Good Kid, m.A.A.d city" by Kendrick Lamar. The full title is "Good Kid, m.A.A.d city, a Short Film By Kendrick Lamar". The album really does play an entire, non linear, movie in your head about what its like growing up in Compton. It's very Rap heavy but I'm pretty sure a non hip hop fan can enjoy it, especially its deeper themes and story.
Here's The Youtube video I mentioned earlier going over the whole album, they explain it more beautifully then I could. Although I would recommend listening to it first so you can form your own opinions, rather than go into it with someone else's interpretation.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OUndaN47EDw
good kid, m.A.A.d city is deeper than you could've ever imagined.
This has been a long time coming. I spent months so I can present to you, the best video on this channel so far..
Hope You Enjoy!
Thank you guys so much for the support! Love each and every one of my subscribers!

That I like Beethoven? Not like that isn't technically complex. Bach can get to be a bit too much and repetitive at times but I do appreciate it. Both things can be true at the same time 😁
But at the end of the day it's a matter of tastes in all things too. What feels good and not.
I mean like look at what I expressed as one of the classical works I appreciate the most in Pachelbel's Canon in D. You look at that and you can't miss the technical complexity of it either, it's a staggeringly well built piece imo.
Again, not what I was saying at all
Fair, we good then.
Hopefully I'll get around to this tomorrow since I haven't yet.
Started listening to some. I still think I can appreciate what the music is without being majorly into it. IE, I can listen and enjoy it occasionally, but it's not what I'll throw on in the background when I'm working/in the car.
It's very neat how music can tell a story even when there is no lyrics.
Lindsey Stirling is also incredibly talented.
Of course you can, totally, um, but also the story is what you make of it which is fun in its own right.
Got hit in the brain with a bit of inspiration…
I am not here to die on a hill.
I am not a symbol.
I am not a sacrifice.
I am not the lesson in someone else's story.
I will not contort myself to make others comfortable.
I will not play along for the sake of appearances.
I will not surrender my truth in exchange for belonging.
I do not exist to be understood by systems that were never meant for me.
I do not owe the world a grand ending, a neat summary, or a final act.
I am here to stand—fully, freely, and without apology.
Even if that means standing alone.
Even if that means stepping away from everything that pretends to care.
I choose honesty over performance.
Silence over noise.
Truth over comfort.
And if they look for me on a hill,
they won’t find me.
Because I do not live to be watched.
I live to be real.
Poet and didn't know it
Okay, I finally got around to the video too. It's okay I guess. But ultimately I just don't really care.
Having a pair of running shoes is good.
Not having a pair of shoes is bad.
Therefore, shoes are valuable but only in as much as a person can value shoes, running, or not running barefoot.
i pretty confident that there is some sort of free will that people have. i have had debates with people on it and conversations.
and i dont think my mind will ever be changed. Humans have free will
if anyone wants to debate this with me let me know. i love to debate it
Sure, you can always create a separate forum post where we can discuss it freely. I will warn you that I disagree with you in a somewhat subtle way.
5e is the best edition of Dungeons and Dragons.
But you're still losing because you're playing DnD
You play before, N?
Agreed, it is definitely most intuitive by far
In before some nerd says "Uhm aktchualy 3.5 is better 🤓 "
Yeah. That came off as making fun of ttrpgs but I meant it in a rulebook way.
I've only ever played 2e
Good.
Yeah we talked about running this latest one in pf but we had a newer person join the group so we just stuck to the basics
1e is just 3.5 on strange steroids.
Anyways, you can enjoy that Pathfinder for sure! I just think that 5e gets way too much shit, when it's actually extraordinary for what it is.
Yeah there's just a lot of nostalgia whores and general complainers. For every bad thing 5e does it's fixed three.
I play in both a 5e campaign and a Pathfinder 2e campaign these days, and I'm noticing how often during D&D I'm thinking "omg this is so much better in Pathfinder" and I never have the opposite thought when I play pathfinder 😇
With the sole exception of there being an "Insight" skill in D&D
It really is just preference I feel. If you enjoy a more crunchy numbers based game I'd say pathfinder is your system but if you just wanna roll dice and have a good time dnd is perfectly fine.
