Now I don’t want anyone to slander anyone else’s opinion, this is purely for easing stress, having a good time, and putting yourself on the front lines of the most intense war the internet has ever seen.

Now I ask you soldier, do you raise your sword for the might of the crunchy comfort of the Waffle, or do you bow down to the fluffy and flaky texture of an expertly-made piece of flat-cake?

YOU DECIDE!

Personally I’m a waffles person, pancakes get too “soggy” after a few minutes in syrup, where as a waffle’s outer shell and deep-holes are able to hold my syrup well, keep it’s structural integrity, and doesn’t turn to babyfood after 1 chew lol

I've always had the two with jam and in the context of using jam as a topping, you go for waffles to justify your quarter cup intake over breakfast

The answer is obvious people.

looks like im going to have to balance out the debate here,
now pancakes are more easily made from scratch, not requiring a special waffle iron to make, and with some creativity you can make shapes with pancakes like pigs or mickey mouse, which was always fun as a kid, pancakes dont have a predetermined size, butter spreads infinitely better on pancakes, i love the name flapjacks, that beats waffle any day of the week personally, and when people flip pancakes in the pan and they go in the air its the coolest thing ever
i rest my case

Depends how they are made and with what ingredients. Generally I prefer Waffles over Pancakes as they can hold the syrup instead of it just spilling everywhere

Good retort sir!

But Waffles have the texture and crunch of the gods, especially belgian waffles.

5 minutes with syrup on a "flapjack" and you have soggy flatcake with a side of heart attack lol

#

If Im gonna have a heart attack, Ima do it with something that has a crunch to it lmao

Waffles or pancakes work the same way as fries with ketchup, or cake with frosting. The former is a delivery device for the latter. In the case of these pastries, the sweet topping delivered is (usually) maple syrup. Waffles can carry more maple syrup by virtue of their three-dimensional geometry. Therefore, waffles are superior.

If that was the case a spoon is superior but it’s not they are called condiments or toppings for a reason

A spoon is superior but it's generally frowned upon societally

The American PEASANTS who call those things "pancakes" have never known the deliciousness of Dutch pancakes, which are close to crêpes but not quite the same. If one espouses that American pancakes are good, then logically one must also accept the tastiness of the Dutch variety. And here's the kicker: because of the thin form factor, adding condiments becomes easier. You can still spread butter or syrup as easily as ever, but should you want more bulky additions like pieces of fruit or meat without it going everywhere, you can roll or wrap or envelop the topping with the thinner pancake, which cannot be done with the thick version.
You can also achieve greater ratios of condiment to pancake with thinner form, yet another boost as having additional options is always good.

Waffles are indeed just thick pancakes with squares cut out, and don't hold a candle to the thin pancakes' elegance, taste, and practicality.
