Decomposition is the process in which the organs and complex molecules of animal and human bodies break down into simple organic matter over time. In vertebrates, five stages of decomposition are typically recognized: fresh, bloat, active decay, advanced decay, and dry/skeletonized. Knowing the different stages of decomposition can help investi...
#What happens after we die?
1 messages Ā· Page 1 of 1 (latest)
The other common thing that happens, at least in some countries is cremation, when the body does not compose but is turned into ash.
Other less common things that can or have happened include being eaten by animals, mummification or vaporization in a nuclear explosion.
What is this question š¤£
"...the ones who love us will miss us" ~Keanu Reeves
I hope there to be an afterlife (especially Christian version) but if there is nothing I will not be surprised
the Christian version has you as a mindless eternal worshiper of an evil god so ill pass
the reason you wont be surprised if there is nothing iz cus u wont be able to be surprised lol
How come you know so much about me?
I don't know the original message was deleted š§
not talking bout you im talking about the Christian heaven
Okay, I read your sentence wrong. However, this is your interpretation. General picture of Christian heaven promises eternal fulfillment which sounds quite cool.
yea and no free will
That's the case either way. I wouldn't mind "eternal fulfillment" whatever that means.
lol
Nothing happens.
Nothing happens I'm pretty sure but if it's what I want to happen I want the Norse to be right since the afterlife is merely just a transition from living to not and the afterlife is just an extension of our reality
The Hellenic afterlife would be fine as well
I would be ok with nothing
Of course you would; it would be nothing.
Heaven hell or purgatory
I don't care. I'll take whatever happens. It's just more of whatever.
Na I was just saying those are the options in my eyes
I know what you were saying. I was saying they're not options.
dude you chill in the astral dimension
There is zero evidence any of those three places exist or any of us survives death to be able to experience these places.
Ok, but I believe it to be true.
You donāt even believe in free will in normal life lmao
ok and
So why make the point lol?
Also its very funny you think you will remain in any way similar to your material self in heaven. āBeing boredā requires a mind. Its just souls, and likely āyouāll be one with Godā is even more literal than one thinks.
cuz you Christians believe in it of course, why else would i say that?
Lol
i dont understand why you keep acting like im a child š¤·āāļø
Iām not
acting like what i believe is comedy
Its funny sure but that isnāt to insult you
So you are happy to believe something without any evidence. That is just wishful thinking.
How do you know there is no evidence?
@dawn swallow I have never seen any evidence that heaven, hell or purgatory exist. I also have seen no evidence that we in anyway survive death in a state where we can experience the effects of heaven, hell or purgatory. If you have evidence then please provide it.
To believe in heaven/hell whatever you must first accept that something like a soul exists
So its kinda a double assumption in that regard
both assuming we have a soul and if you have assumed we have a soul then you assume it goes somewhere after we die and that place is heaven/hell
Both of which there is 0 evidence for
On the contrary, there is a small bit of evidence for believing that there is not a soul
Though it is not much and from a very new branch of science
@dawn swallow what is the picture meant to prove?
I think we go to something, wether that be an afterlife, a second life or whatever. I just cant imagine we are here for nothing. Just infinite nothingness after death seems very stupid. I feel like there has to be something. What that is, I do not know.
Just tell us why you believe what you believe
You believe in heaven because you want it to be real?
I never said that.
I said "I think we go to something" that can be anything.
But why
U said it āseams stupidā
Sounds like wishful thinking to me
This is wishful thinking. You don't want life to end so you believe some how it will continue. If you had a shred of evidence you would be able to give us more details
What about non-human animals, do they have something after death or are they just dead and finished?
Wishful thinking isnt a problem. I never said I believe it will continue, I said "I think we go to something" that can be literally everything. However I think the outcome of it being infinite nothingness makes life pointless and if I have to live a life thats pointless id rather not live at all. Though I feel like this is only the beginning of what "life" has in store for us.
I think saying this over complicates death, making it almost something spiritual or whatever it may be. Death is death. What happens I do not know for certain. I only have what I think.
I used to have similar thoughts that a life ending followed by nothingness would be pointless, but I think we can find things to do in life that can bring about a purpose that can make life less pointless. However these kind of thoughts do nothing to increase the likelihood of something other that nothingness exist after death.
I certainly was not trying to make death seem spiritual or anything like that. I am firmly of the opinion that death ends everything, there is nothing after death, for all animals, including human animals. I was just trying to work out if you saw something different for one particular animal species
How would no afterlife make life itself pointless. That implies the value of life depends on not on life itself.
Yea how does that make life pointless?
Either way whether or not it makes life pointless has no bering on the truth of it
You want the Hellenic afterlife? I am sorry my dude but that's psychopathic
And @olive sage
If somehow he could experience the infinite nothingness it would be a very very very long time. It's a hell of it's own.
What he means is that what's the point of living of you can't escape death.
And I have problem with that. Not only do I believe suicide is weak, and for cowards (most cases), but that not living because you can't impact the world 'or it doesn't matter' is an excuse made by you to be lazy and not accomplish anything.
Those who genuinely feel this way usually lean into depression which goes into suicide.
How is nothing hell?
You were dead for 13.8 billion years
Was that hell?
If you could experience it
Ofc but you canāt experience nothing
I donāt know why you brought suicide into this
Most atheists have a good mental health and believe death is the end
I don't know what you mean by that
As mentioned above
"I'd rather not live at all"
then good thing you are a christian
please stay one
What?
Never claimed to be one.
And my beliefs about suicide and the like are not. From religion, it's kinds stupid because that's not even close to a motivator.
ok my bad assumed cuz all theists I've met here are
What motivates you to not lill yourself?
My biological instinctual desire
As someone who suffers from mental health issues and has tried to kill themselves twice and also been highly depressed and suicidal and not attempted to kill myself I really do not know why I went through with an attempt twice and did not at other times. I am sure we all have a survival instinct of some sort and it takes a lot to overcome that even if we have mental health issues impacting out thoughts such that we think killing ourselves is the best option. I am sure my view that life was pointless if their was no hope of anything after death did not help me but I do not hold that view anymore.
