@south coral
here right?
Yes, thank you!
np ๐
Can you open the network tab while you have the error popup
and click on the request that pops up
(should probably be red but not sure)
i think when i opened inspect element it automatically refreshed the page
alr gimme a sec
(but while having the devtools open)
(you can also pop it off in another window if it's too annoying on the side)
i think its the last red one
it popped up as soon as i got the error
status code: too many requests
how though
aaaah oki so that helps a bit xD
kinda xdd
Either it's too many requests on your side, or maybe on theirs (too many from different devs on this carrier/region compared to the usual traffic)
so honestly
maybe try waiting a week or so and try again :/
annoying i know
but probably the best thing to do
if its not asking for too much
could you try sorta making a new account but not really
like dont go all the way with it
and see if you get the same error
that way i know for sure its an issue from them and i can wait then.
I waited a week or so and it worked, that's what i was referring to when i said that i know this part has had issues like that xDD
how long did it last xd
honestly not sure, I wasn't in a hurry because I still had to work on my app anyway
so i tried about a week after if i remember correctly
but didn't try sooner
Also
wut
ah curse word? ๐คฃ
sry i got timed out cause i accidentally said the doodoo word
understandable xD
XDD

you can also try here
I never tried
google do be too sensitive
but apparently you can private message them
yea i guess i can wait
(to be fair it's a public official server, and there are very young ppl, so... ยฏ_(ใ)_/ยฏ)
but maybe try messaging them on twitter too
I kinda doubt it will work but eh
but if im not sure whether its an issue with me or them i cant really know whether i should be looking for a fix or wait it out you know
worth a shot probably
i wouldnt expect alot to be crowding it for the great price of 25 dollars
Apparently that issue is more common with phone numbers/carriers that aren't from the "main developed countries" too, but i don't know if it's a rumor or...
i just wish they would address it better
like instead of saying you cant verify my phone number you could say "the server might be busy, try again later"
something like that
then id know its a matter of waiting and not fixing
yeah true
to be fair they do say "at the moment"
also be sure to try phone calls btw
it probably pushed off alot of people considering this is the first step to careers lol
because those have less issues with some carriers
and you're getting stuck before ever breathing
to think google of all places be facing these kinda issues
it's quite a recent thing (i believe mandatory now bc of legal reasons)
whats worst is when i tried their live chat
I think it only was mandatory in Korea before or something
they all said their scope is google play issues
and linked me a different chat
when i went to that chat they said the same thing like bruh
lol, im glad i ran into you
otherwise this is already a very depressing start ๐
i already struggle with coding and many things
i dont need the cherry on top ;-;
im kind of self taught
not even proper courses but youtube tutorials xd
ayy fellow android developer :))
(i do believe it's better than "proper" courses tbh)
yea i dont mind honestly
especially because the official google documentation is CRAZY good
only down point is when you get stuck you cant get help but now chatgpt actually made it much more possible
like the android developers website is goated xD
before it was meh
which one?
honestly between stackoverflow and the official docs it's fine imo
especially because AIs like Gemini & ChatGPT are in my opinion quite bad especially at Android
yea but chatgpt is alot faster in answering your very specific questions
the built-in AI that's in Android Studio is quite good, but still meh
stack overflow is still abit of hassle
yeah but in my opinion it still gives very often wrong answers
like worse than wrong
it often gives answers that work
ahh thats what u were talking about, didnt really know cause i use unity
but are downright bad to learn
Aaaah never used unity yet so not sure about this case
but for classic android apps LLMs are
they kinda give stuff that somewhat-works
it kind of depends i think, it was always reliable for me tbh
but isn't the best practice at all :/
so imo it's very good at making prototypes
and that kinda stuff
but really bad to learn
(because you're essentially learning how not to do things in a way)
yea i imagine theres alot easier engines for android than unity but i got too familiar with unity tbh and i plan on making stuff for other platforms as well
i like the flexibility, its always great to have another choice
yep
if you're looking to make apps and not games though
do look into #flutter at some point :>
xdd that sounds odd
it's fun to learn
i was actually planning to at first but i was trying to go the official route and follow courses and got too lazy to go with it xd
but i might give it another go with youtube tutorials just like i did with unity
tell me if im taking too much of ur time btw
nah don't worry ahah
honestly if at some point you want to learn native android or flutter
There are super good people here
(including Googlers)
arent we all googlers though ๐๐
XDD we are different kind of googlers
oh yea
these people made it big
but they have also dedicated alot for this
ngl first time im joining this server it felt scary
me too xD
i felt like i joined the firm of google itself lol
xD
XDD great server tho
you should try to chat in #general
it's super casual
and honestly there are super friendly ppl
especially if you're looking to learn
nice
(i legit learnt so much from this server so i'm kinda promoting it to everyone now lol)
XD sometimes the chillest servers are the most useful
I haven't made a video game in aaaages
but i mostly do websites / basic android apps
(usually stuff i need)
it's mostly just stuff for fun when i'm bored ๐คฃ
or stuff i need
Like uuuh
oooo nice
One example i like to give
bc it's absolutely stupid xD
Is that i have chickens at home
(parents home at least)
xdd
and like the "chicken house" (don't know how it's called in english lmao) it at the very end of the garden
chicken cage maybe xd
and you have to open / close it every morning and night for them to roam around the garden
had one at my grandma's place
and sometimes it RAINS SO MUCH HERE
WOAH
thats some genius level stuff xdd
so i can close/open the chicken door ๐คฃ
also has an auto mode using the brightness outside
omg i could never know how to do this stuff bro ๐
dang
Nah honestly you can!
im abit confused how it works
It was legit super ez to make
does it work over wifi? bluetooth?
wifi!
installed this relay on the roof of the house ๐คฃ
that way we have wifi in the whole garden
(not craaazy wifi tho, quite slow tbh)
but works for the chicken door too
xdd
but honestly it was one of my first "projects"
so it was soooo "too complicated"
like I could have made it 1000% simpler
just didn't know stuff yet ๐คฃ
that sums up all my codes xdd
oh yea i know the feeling
It's a programming curse tbh
except im too lazy to learn new things
and always want to stick to what i know
i get so pissed when theres no other way around one thing even if its going to be ineffecient and spaghetti code lol
You learn more -> you feel good -> you discover & understand a new "depth" of code and how more complicated things work -> you're like "bruh they're too good" -> you learn more
endless cycle
yea tbh once u do learn that one thing uve been avoiding
u always realize how convinient it is
yeah true!
just recently learnt about public static variables in unity
probably not advanced at all
but these are variables that can be refrenced from any script and any scene and the script itself doesnt need to be attached to a gameobject ๐ฒ
the Java-style stuff like
to me this was revolutionary
protected static void
great that you learned in this order though honestly
i know people that learned first those ones
and use them everywhere
but then have absolute terrible performance
i always had to do "DontDestroyOnLoad" code and i always had to destroy extra instances when i return back to the scene and it was very stupid
these are things you dont learn from tutorials tbh
you just discover them as you go
and chatgpt does kinda use them so u gotta understand them
but what really pushed me off learning it
is because chatgpt didnt just recommend it
it also did this "public static singleton"
two things i had no idea what they are at the time
instead of one at a time
ah yup
ofc chatgpt just gives you the best solution and doesnt give a you know what if its too scary looking or one at a time thing lol
anyways i kept bargaining and asking for alternatives till it narrowed down to one at a time
yup good strat xD
xd and thats the way to go tbh
judging by the pic u sent
u probably majored computer science
started in medicine actually xD
i had a friend that did similiar stuff and he was cs
But i'm still in school atm and in computer science
the chicken thing was waaaay before though xD
thats crazy
actually didn't want at all to do a job in programming / dev
i was too scared it would destroy my hobby
like
see i always use the excuse of not being in computer science for progressing much slower than anyone else
but i get proven otherwise alot xdd
it was a proper passion / after work thing, so i was genuinely worried that:
โข jobs would be passion-less and just be like "make red button here"
โข if i worked on code from 8am to 7pm at work, the LAST thing i would wanna do when coming back home would be to code lol
i can relate, i was showing my sister a game i was working on, and she had a following on instagram and suggested advertising it. i was really scared something like that would get people to rush me and stuff. i really have a slow pace and because i have pretty bad circumstances as well xd
but I joined this server while in med school, and they invited me to Amsterdam to a big conference
(Google I/O Connect Amsterdam)
And i met sooo many people IRL from this server or not
but so many ppl that genuinely loved their work
that they basically convinced me I liked programming even as a job xD
dang
And I changed career the same year ;-;
official one had quite the d bags lol
ah yeah lol
im not the type to argue online
true for most dev servers ngl
but another person got heated for me xd and started arguing
i took his side obv
but its still stupid
yeah true
some of them have superiority complex
100% agree
the need to feel smarter than everyone else and belittle everyone's knowledge
many ppl forget that most of us are doing this for fun or not as a main career, that some of us are SUPER young, and also that the end goal is just to progress
if it was a contest i'd be in a hackaton not discord xD
and also straight up only sending links to forums or documentations instead of explaining anything
very impatient too
those ones i kinda understand though, beause i often do it by accident ๐คฃ
over the years ive really learned that noone has a right to make fun of your code
or the knowledge you have over coding
because even big games and really popular indie games have somewhat laughable or terrible code
and its fine who cares
it works and the developer understands it well
Essentially, at least personally, I mis-judge the level of the other person (often if their question was quite well written), and so I just send documentation as I think they'll know their way around it and it will be more useful than anything i could say
true
i also had some friends that just wanted to keep braggin about their coding skills or whatever
it's good to criticize though
and nitpicking every little thing you do
so someone was pointing to me that my code isnt good because i dont have private variable with an underscore before the name
and i literally dont give a dang what they think
i geniunly hate doing it
its confusing to me
and i very rarely need to know when a variable is private or not
it's not even code it's semantics
like stfu and get over it
i never do it too xD
yea its very unnecessary
absolutely hate this underscore thing
IDEs put special colors now
so it's fine without
FRR
thankfully it's something that's disappearing a bit
(on android i've not seen this in years)
i quite any tutorial that has it immiedietly ๐๐
๐คฃ
ah sorry i really have to go xD
np ๐
i had fun talking to u alot :))
Yeah same :D
uh oh dont let me get you in trouble now XD
sure thing ๐
u gotta teach me how to do cool machine stuff like u do sometime XD
Honestly when you want ๐
It's really not hard
Like the chicken thing is probably less than a 100 lines total
