I think I was adding 50 examples a couple of months ago until my laptop powered off and I lost all my work :P

the expected behavior is that the old examples are at the start of the chat, and then any previous session history

Now we're just getting a super generic chatbot that we can't even tweak the responses of, we can only tweak the message history in the code to give it a personality

which imo breaks the whole reason behind having a playground to experiment with responses

(also, side note, the UI shimmer still shows the old UI, might want to fix that / push forward to the team :P)

I hear you! I'm told the examples panel will be coming back in the future. I'm not sure why it's like this right now, but probably some technical reason for the (temporary?) regression.

To confirm, you haven't lost or lost access to any of your old examples or data, you just can't edit it anymore in the UI?

Yep, and also can't tell where my examples end and where the session starts, so that's kind of annoying

clearing the chat forces clearing of the examples too, rather than clearing the session (which would not happen with the old UI)

So what do developers do in the meantime, if we want to experiment with personality tweaking for the bot?

It sounds like there's more chat UI redesign coming down and this is an intermediate state. I confirmed with the product team that they're aware that power users (e.g. you) would be negatively impacted for now, and they do plan to bring back the other features with the more complete design.

I know this probably isn't the answer you were looking for, but let's give them the benefit of the doubt that this is in service to getting you all other new goodies ASAP. 🙂

Or would this change probably not add on anything to the free Makersuite experience, like free tier people get no new changes?
