Not sure exactly where to put this, it's probably relevant to other bug reports but may not be specific enough to have its own post.

My game mostly runs fine, good enough for me anyway but I occasionally get significant drops in framerate, very sluggish and not responsive enough to be playable. Usually lasts for ~10-20 seconds or so as it slowly recovers. Probably similar to other performance issues reported. This VERY OFTEN happens when I die and it switches to the teammate spectate cam, something about that transition can spark the issue, but it's not limited to that - I suspect it has something to do with visual effects. May also be related to one CPU core being fully used even if total CPU use is not at 100%.

The really interesting thing that I've realized though is that 9 times out of 10, if I quickly open the settings menu and go to the video settings (so it overlays the settings over the game render), it instantly fixes the issue. I can just pause-settings-video-escape without changing anything and it'll be back to perfect performance when otherwise I have to wait for it to recover. I wonder if anyone's discussed this before, but it's hard to search for - seems like it might be significant and point to a fixable issue.

They still haven't fixed the mouse issue. As soon as I get close to enemies and aim at them, the mouse simply stops working. That's if you're close to the enemy, but it works fine if you're far away. I almost broke my mouse because it kept shutting off at the most important moment.

yeah thats why you have that problem, i also had that when i spawned in the first 3-5 seconds for me were like this, or when i get revived. Since it gives input lag and adds "fake frames" I had to disable it. And when you have a low base fps <120FPS it is even more noticable.
Try to turn it off and look if its gone.

I also dont recommend framegen in fps shooters or competitive games.

Fix false positive permabans! There are so many players who recently got banned without cheating.
I invested over 1200hours and a lot of cash to get banned for no reason - there is no support, just a bot who says that embark has thrust in anti-cheat.

open up resource monitor, go to memory, check hard faults per second for the finals while in game. if it’s super high it’s your page file, move it to a faster drive, preferably the same drive you have the finals is on, make sure it’s automatically managed and the drive has plenty of space (100gb+ free). if your page file is on a slower drive or one with little space, the game can’t fetch assets fast enough

It could be that in NVIDIA Control Panel, the game is enabled for optimization. Turn off optimization in the NVIDIA Control Panel and the settings won't automatically change. I personally faced this issue.

the anticheat is massively overtuned and flags basically any other driver on your computer as a potential cheat. Nothing you can do besides switching to the console version or bitching at embark online.

You're fucked, man. Embark doesn't manually investigate their AI anticheat's actions, move to console, get a refund, or get your bank to issue a chargeback. Embark has made it clear they don't believe anyone with claims like yours or ours.

I'm sorry to hear that, but it's understandable. You'll have to just wait it out or create a support ticket on their website for now. I don't recommend continuing with the game if you aren't on console, but as it stands, if you really want to keep playing, you've only got those two options.

I have evidence to suggest that recent changes to the game have started preventing the ability for software to save game clips, in my case AMD: Adrenalin Instant Replay. Within the last two weeks, I have started having issues with clips successfully saving, sometimes without proper metadata and sometimes not at all, as well as occasional major frame drops when I try to use the hotkey command for the clipping. I have confirmed that after resetting and reinstalling software from my end via both AMD Cleanup Utility and DDU methods, the clipping features work fine for my desktop and other games, but no longer in The Finals. I believe it may likely have something to do with the recent changes to the anti-cheat system

I got a solution for you (maybe)
1st - in steam launch options copy and paste this: -dx12 -NOTEXTURESTREAMING

2nd - Play game in exclusive full screen , i know it says not recommended but just do it , it helped 3 people including me.

3rd - remove the instant replay option completely.

4th - turn off antilag2 and nvidia reflex, they made my game and multiple people that i know stutter a lot.

If nothing ubove helped i feel bad for you , but atleast i tryied , for me game fps from last patch after doing all this jumped from 120-150fps to 220-260 fps

EDIT: THIS WILL BE A FULL WRITE UP WITH ADDITIONAL FIXES THAT GOT MY FPS TO ALMOST ORIGINAL STATE PRE PATCH:

I was in the finals discord and was able to find Steam launch options for The Finals that will help increase your overall FPS/Stability, and help with the FPS dips post-patch, in addition to an nvidia shaders cleanup.

Pre-Patch FPS for me was 190-240 fps on a 4070 super with epic settings and DLSS set to balanced with the transformer model.

Post update: 140-170 fps with terrible dips to 100-110 FPS during fights, making it feel super inconsistent. With these fixes, I am almost back to the original FPS at around 156 - 240 fps.

DO AS FOLLOWS:

STEP 1: shoutout to u/Waliya10 for commenting on this fix:

FOR NVIDIA USERS:

⁠⁠Disable Shader Cache: • Open the NVIDIA Control Panel. • Go to Manage 3D Settings. • Locate Shader Cache Size (or "Shader Cache" on older drivers) and set it to Disabled.

⁠⁠Clear Local Cache Files: • Navigate to the following folder path: C:\Users[YourUserName]\AppData\Local\NVIDIA • Delete everything inside both the DXCache and GLCache folders.

⁠⁠Run Disk Cleanup: • Open the Windows Disk Cleanup tool. • Check the box for DirectX Shader Cache and run the cleanup. Reboot

⁠⁠Re enable Shader Cache: • Open the NVIDIA Control Panel again. • Set Shader Cache Size back to Enabled (I selected the 10GB option). • Reboot

STEP 2:

So my temporary fix is to go to the finals game on steam, go to properties, then set the launch options as follows:

-dx12 -NOTEXTURESTREAMING

OR

-dx12 -NOTEXTURESTREAMING -NoVerifyGC

See which of the above two combinations give you better fps, so far I think the first one is slightly better for me in terms of the FPS floor being slightly higher.

This helped have less FPS dips and increased fps overall. Still isn’t as great as before the 2/12/26 update, but it’ll do for now. Let me know if there are other combinations that also work.

This is the temp fix while we wait for Embark to optimize this game to how it was prior to the latest update. Somehow the latest update made the optimization way worse idk why.

fyi, no texture streaming can reduce fps in vram is not enough. the launch option makes the game load everything to vram, if u have enough vram that is a good thing, if u don't then it's horrible. combine the launch option with low ingame texture setting.
the game uses just above 4 GB VRAM on my RX 7700 XT so on devices with low vram there may be stutters.

Around 10:30–11:00 AM EST today, I was actively playing and completed a successful extraction with my inventory intact. Right after that, the game forced a reconnect/update.
• I first pressed Reconnect — it failed to go through.

Seen on a reddit post, not by my own personal experience, but it would definitely be something worth having the team look into. As far as it seems, the max is 5 players, and could be related to party sizes of 5 and some fiddling. Hi, I keep getting server connection time out, for 3 games in a row ( Error code TFGE0003 and TFGE0000) - My ping and network is stable and I have relauched the game but the issue is persistent, what is going on??

Does anyone have constant stutters since the last few updates? Before that I had a steady locked 60 fps (without the limit it goes native 100-110 fps) and around every 30 secs or so it goes to 0-10 fps and then instantly goes back to full that I had before. For several months, the game ran perfectly without even the fps dipping. Then this comes in. I already tried reinstalling, driver update, deleting nvidia shader cache so it would recalculate. Nothing works. Sometimes I miss shots because my mouse click doesnt register

Fix the ranked system. There is no reason I am low plat and I am first or second seed every single game. Playing 30–35 minutes of a match just for 1st place 600 points is a waste of time and makes people not want to play the game. 3rd place should always be a positive score of 100 RS and 1st place should always be 800 points minimum.

Nerf goo sledge. The goo gun stunning someone is fine but if someone tries to sledge it there should be no damage done to the player, it should only break the goo. Logically speaking, goo is terrain like a wall and sledge going through a wall and also dealing damage is broken. Anyone can do it and there is no counter play.

Side note: Goo gun needs a cooldown after a certain amount of usage.

As usual, after each update, there are delays in the game of about 1 second (for example, I ran around the corner and died). The game becomes unplayable with such a delay. (My ping is 18 ms). I’m so disappointed. Came back after a break hoping for a fix, but the frame drops are still there. I’ve done everything: cleared cache, clean reinstall, updated GPU drivers, moved to an SSD—nothing worked.

The game stutters the moment VFX like explosions or gas appear, and worse, it freezes the second I get shot at close range. It’s an instant loss every time.

Also, what’s with the cheaters? People are tracking me through walls with zero sound cues. And to top it off, I'm seeing bullets literally firing out of the back of enemy models. Is that a bug or just insane desync?

I got the same suspension on Feb 28 which sucks because I still have no idea what they're refering to, like what behavior? I've read that GeForce Experience could flag your system but thats been running on my laptop since I started playing The Finals and I started using MSI Afterburner for like a bit more than a month ago to check CPU and GPU usage and temps with no problems so I don't think those would casue my system to be flagged and I'm way to technologically impaired to even try using apps or whatever to cheat and as for swearing at people, I don't see the point, it won't change what happend or the way they behave so just screw it, next game will be better... GPU: RTX 3060 (16GB) — Stays pegged at 97%+ usage even with 12GB VRAM free.

RAM: 32GB

Storage: SSD (200GB+ free) — Despite this, I see weird HDD spikes during gameplay.

Apps: Only Discord is running.

The Issue:
The game ran perfectly until Season 8, but everything broke with Season 9. It consistently freezes during explosions, object destruction, or the moment an enemy is close. It’s not a hardware limitation; it’s an optimization/sync issue.

Regarding Cheaters:
I’ve played for over 700 hours across NA and Asia. I’ve received multiple "action taken" notifications from the devs regarding players I reported, so they are definitely there. but in my experience, the wallhacking and "silent" flanking are rampant right now.

I just want the smooth experience we had before S9 back.

Funny you mention that, a few games ago I ran into a group of hackers lol, both with wall hacks and lock on.
I personally don't see freezing issues, but a few of my friends who also use Nvidia graphics cards do say they somtimes see fps drops just at random times, borderline freezing. I would like to guess it's something to do with DLS, but it could very likely just be due to the games janky coding.

As much as I wish The FInals project success, time has put everything in its place and the game inevitably slides to the bottom. A vivid example of this is online players and ridiculous attempts to keep him. By doing everything possible to balance the game towards weak players, allowing weak players to make easy frags, a huge imbalance in weapons, gadgets, perks and more. The presence of Aim Assists for both melee weapons and firearms.

For me, it was an interesting journey with a length of 3532 hours of playing time, I watched as the game from a promising breakthrough project with great promise and ambition slipped into the trash, losing the trust of the players. Uh... anyone ever seen this before? This has been happening to me since last night in basically every game/engagement, making it unplayable. I continued to try different playlists in order to grab clips and troubleshoot on my own. Usually the stuttering happens ~15-90 seconds into a round and lasts throughout. I did get have a Powershift match earlier with no issues on an alt account, but then the issue returned in a TDM the next game after 1 round had been played.

Turned off Steam background recording. Rolled back to older GPU drivers & reinstalled new ones, verified my game files, added a "-dx12" flag in launch options for Steam to force DX12 upon open, and even fully reinstalled the game. This has never occurred before in my 2+ years of playing, so I assume it's the result of a recent game update?

Just had the servers go to shit mid game. I had to restart, after which it put me back in the tutorial. After I quit that I was able to reconnect, despite this I got a 10 minute lock out of cashout. While playing with a shotgun, when I get winched or just before death, the shot I fired before that doesn't register. So far I've seen this happen on M (cerberus) and L (double barrel) class. It’s not really a bug, but I’ve been having a major issue on the PS5 for days. This yellow icon pops up very, very often when I start a round, and there’s severe lag in almost every round! And sometimes a red icon too! And I have a very good internet connection. In Marvel Rivals, for example, I get 20 to 30 ms, sometimes even just 20 to 25 ms. But in The Finals, there’s lag in almost every round 😭😭😤. It’s really annoying. Please do something about the server. And I’m playing in the EU

@wary acorn just screenshot it and put it in Ai, seems like there are few steps you can do by your own. Verify Game Files, Repair Easy Anti-Cheat, Check for "Virtualization" or Macros etc

Maybe delete the Game ones in steam and remove all game files whats left on your pc and clear caches aswell to be sure to that everything is gone. Then make try to reinstall it again. Do you have any programs to boost your fps ingame ? that also can trigger that error.

Does anyone feel like flame effects are desynced? Or is it just a quirk of the instant replay? In a live match, I'll be blinded by fire but get beamed by an opponent.
