it largely depends on numerous factors, but a breakpoint being 249 is kinda wild. 90 would be a good number that buffs 1 less shot to kill on medium and heavy while basically allowing all healing to combat a breakpoint on medium and heavy. and its not like you land the full damage frmo the grenades super often

I’m not sure how to answer your second paragraph. Typically this applies in knowledge-based arguments, for example, ones surrounding technical matters. If a question came up where someone’s experience just playing the game would correlate well with their ability to answer it well, I would take the opinions of more experienced players as more valuable than my own. However if the argument is in any way possible to make without relying on opinion, simply having played the game more than myself does not compete with a rational argument. So I assume a ruby player is more correct than my intuition about tactical matters and such, but not that they are correct about weapon balance for non-rubies :p

There is an end point where we can just say get better at the game but its equally as pointless as their own statement. When I see dozens of people complaining about flamethrower, then the higher I go I see how much harder it is to use. Then I can connect the two and see that new players have issues with the flamethrower. So then we can start from that point of how do you make flamethrower weaker without hurting its overall power in the game. This is just an example obviously because flamethrower is about as fine as its going to get without some very clever changes.

I’d say it’s fairly symmetrical, and also, not really. I wouldn’t typically think the balance was generally pretty good if I were only adopting much info from specific sects of the playerbase.

I don’t present those stances without the caveat that they won’t apply everywhere, though because I am a bit lazy I may not always make it that clear.

I have to make a value judgement because I have no choice, unless I want to take the extremist route of resolving all subconscious processing to irrelevance. I have a friend who does this, and I don’t think it’s beneficial and definitely less fun to debate with.

I would guess that a player’s value (embark’s POV) to the game isn’t going to be drastically different to a linear scale to how long they’ve played for, outside of the extreme ends. If I worked at Embark I’d want to try to build a model that could predict how long someone is likely to play for based on their current hours, perhaps some more variables too (but you’d risk making it more unstable with too many)

So, if I wanted to optimise the game for a specific caste of people, I would see where the average of those weights lies in terms of in-game performance, and balance around that.

what would you rank a good sword player on a tier list for weapons?

sword is crap
it's numbers are about the same as pre nerf repeater, except on a weaopn that has a range of 2m instead of 40, and 150hp instead of 250

thrust is intersting as movement but light doesn't need more movement really, they need more hp and damage

A good enough player can make anything work even in ruby (not to say any ruby player could make sword work, but a sword player who was good enough could hit ruby)

it is extremely possible for a player to be a significantly higher skill level, with the weakest weapon in the game, than the best weapon in the game, because they understand it better, and it synergises well with their choices and playstyle

When choosing your loadout, it's probably best to start with your favourite thing, the one you want to play with the most and enjoy the most, and then look at what stuff will work with it

So for me, the bow is my favourite, and grapple my second favourite. I want to play with both, and I'm good enoguh now that I can - if I bring supporting gadgets alongside it

So, rather than normal H+ gateway glitch, I instead run nullifier, frag and a defensive gadget, which enables the grapple/bow a lot better than gateway glitch h+

M1 is the trigger, M2 is the hammer.

• Holding M2, pulls the hammer back and ADS normally. Giving better ranged capability with slow fire rate.
• Holding M1 pulls the trigger and holds it back. Then you can "fan the hammer" by clicking M2 for rapid fire with bloom.
  So fanning works like a reverse of ADS.
