I'm assuming the Beijing map Embark were rumored to be working on is coming out this season, and I hope they get creative with the layout.
Kyoto 1568 was a serious flop despite being one of the most unique maps in the game, thanks to how open and unconventional the layout was, but I feel like they could totally incorporate historical buildings into an urban theme and still make it work.
Imagine an area like Nozomi, but with a more rustic feel and some pagodas sprinkled in like tourist attractions. The building layout was a huge point of discussion in Kyoto 1568, but I feel like if they split cashouts between urban and ancient buildings it could give players agency over what kind of area they want to defend, allowing for much more varied matches.

Kyoto still needs more outdoor cover, more than just carts and boxes on the roads but maybe a boat or raft, or paper lanterns on the waters would make it ever so less a snipers heaven. TLDR: feeling the agoraphobia for real when I'm touching the water and mossy stone paths.

Seouls powershift path still blows, forcing certain playstyles depending on the side you spawn on and outright preventing other types, which sucks in a casual gamemode. TLDR: maybe try starting the platform somewhere else, perhaps suspended structures or construction variant would help?

Nozomi/Citadel could do with a lifeguard/maintenance catwalk over the CNS pool to better mirror the other side to provide the same powerful middle map position. the thought of high ground disposition crossed my mind but on second thought its kind of fine? TLDR: if only I had somewhere to contest the rooftops from mid map on the Nozomi side like on the Citadel side.

System Horizon feels like it has a shorter powershift path, when the campus side is winning the library side lacks windows to reach the platform as easily, with its many other powershift winning side favored things it'd be better if the platform curved into the Museum earlier or later. It would solve the windowless side issue as well as give the losing team a better than slim chance for a turn around victory. TLDR: do not change or tweak the map in any way for balance reasons, tweak the path of the objective.

Bernal is amazing, though sufferers from the same foliage side preferences of Skyway just at the end instead of the beginning (or middle).
Skyway Estate trees obscure powerful sniper sightlines from the Open Office, which can easily be cleared with the abundance of barrels in the area, though with the aspect of spawn camping its actually pretty easy to get past that part. TLDR: no changes really needed but players who read this one can get some insight on how to help gain edge.

Winching cashouts into allyways, streets or any comparable open areas is just so brutal and has no practical counters. Nozomi/Citadel adressed the urban city streets by having plenty of street clutter like streetlights and rain shelter bus stops but Horizons streets only have the blocky bridges over them and the blocky hills in the streets, the lack of details a sharpshooters haven as contestants are easier to pick out.
Yet that ease of pickings helps newer or at least the less hardcore keep up, target identification is difficult for most as proven by the most recent game ARC raiders as just standing still has proven enough for people to be unseen.
All in all Horizon would lose on its aesthetic with too much street clutter as cover but objectives probably shouldn't be as easily moved into those untouchable positions. speaking of untouchable positions, the sniper spot above the workspace should at least be able to be destroyed.
TLDR: Cashouts winched into the streets are untouchable, therefore should be harder to pull off and the workspace glass ceiling spot has parts that should be destructible to prevent camping.

anyone else wish there was like, a live-elimination mode? like it's all one match, with WT money rules. starting with 4 teams and 2 cash boxes, after a certain amount of time has elapsed, the team with the least money is eliminated. Then it's 3 teams, but still with 2 cash boxes. Then it's 2 teams, with only one cash box. All in one match, without any intermission. The final head to head is normal head to head rules, except it's only first to one cashout wins.

I think it'd be really interesting to see how the strategy and politics of a match evolve as teams get eliminated. And it would give a slice of every team format in the game

I'm not from China actually, but I wholeheartedly agree we do need a Hong Kong style map desperately. Interestingly however, the map teased for s9 doesn't look like one specific area like Bernal or Monaco, but rather a hodge-podge of different Chinese regions; people are highlighting areas of the map reminiscent of Hong Kong.

The highly urban area is definitely more hong kong style. Mainland doesn't have much of such architecture anymore, especially how cramped things are.

Not sure why they didn't do a single city instead, maybe because having a real life locations and destruction means people are going to use the game to politicise it.

idk i feel like the cashout always ends up down there wether you want it to or not and trying to attack it is always a death sentence. theres like 2 basements that feel good to fight in and its the ones that have actual walls or decent enough attack points. doesnt help that theres only like 2 buildings with cashout spawns that have more than one floor so iits rare to actually fight in the building itself unless youre fighting for the vault. the map is beautiful and an interesting idea just feel like it needs some tweaks like maybe make the crawlspaces actual crawlspaces instead of another floor thats insanely easy to defend

Embark has been putting a lot of emphasis on the layout of maps and separating areas based on theme lately (Nozomi and Citadel, Traditional and Urban areas in Fengwai) so I don't think a half-medieval half-urban map is really out of the question

to avoid new player confusion/give fully random, quick matches, that favorite system could be hidden in settings
then unlocking a quick choice on the map

This is like the tenth time I’ve brought this idea up but: Give us a skyscraper map- exclusive to tournament modes, each round would be 3 floors of sponsors (round one could be holtow, dissun, engimo, and round two could be iseult, ospuze, Alfa acta, etc),with the final round being a massive penthouse floor themed around multico. Aside from the multico floor, each floor could be a random sponsor each game. I think this could be really cool, having a preset floor for each sponsor and then each game the map is different but still recognizable

bernal might be the worst fucking point break map
at first i thought it was ok but over time i realized the H point is so close to defender spawn that if they move it to the spawn lines or level the area to remove cover, it's completely fucking impossible to attack cause you can't flank the defender position
cause they're in their fucking spawn protection
