It's a point break map which got split to chunks for TDM

Idea not just for fixing starlight's cover issues against long range but as a modifier for other maps. Earthquake that creates steep ditches, pre-felled trees for bush-like ground concealment and pre-set map destruction to add new cover and sightlines to mix things up on pre-existing maps; no it should not actively break buildings, the engine and peoples computers can barely handle the contestants destroying the map en mass.

as for starlight baseline, more rocks and reeds in those rivers as well as irrigation dips in the fields and near rock walls like the ones historically accurate to European farmland irrigation so contestants can passively or actively avoid headshots on approach to objectives or allow for sneakier flanks.

getting stuck spawning in awful places with a general lack of cover to get to could be solved with dirt mounds with concrete pipes through them like they have at airsoft arenas. even if the pipes just go into a dead end into the map part with the high hill elevations at least its cover that can't be disintegrated with a explosion or two.

that type of cover exists in arc raiders on the dam map, a little copy paste of a concrete tube and the rats have their hole to hide in so they don't get no dif murked by the fat cats blessed with high ground.

I think maps lack the density of interactive mechanics compared to their size, thus creating a more monotone and walking sim experience overall. We need more of the same mindset when you created mechancial walls and Vegas turret. Like give us toys to mess around. Since The Finals has great sandox mechanics with great communication between them, the possibilities are endless. But here's a few basic ideas:

Suspended weights: shoot their ropes to cause environmental destruction.

Make the crane console more reachable by moving it closer to the ground.

Slim long pillars: they work just like Kyoto towers, but more practical to use. "Slim pillars" look like the pillars in the duck and cover map.

Wrecking ball could be able to be pushed by bullets, creating a momentum. The more you make it swing, the closer it gets to fall. And players could decide the exact time to drop it by using explosives. Explosives also create a small impact momentum.

What exactly was the thought process behind Starlight Hollow's first attacker wave? If your momentum is stopped due to any number of reasons, the game is just over. You spawn out in the open with no cover and are just fodder for sniper lights or mediums with you having to run at least 25m to get to any cover assuming they aren't aggressively pushing you

very very true. i stopped playing point break pretty quickly after playing it for a while. Like you said the second the momentum is lost the round may as well have been decided early. I mean i love the fast pace of the game and how quickly a bajillion different things can happen, but when you pack 16 people into what is very quickly turned into just an open square of gunfire and explosions nobody really has to PLAY the OBJ they can just W key and win because what the hell are you going to do?

It's just really annoying to fight anywhere on Kyoto and as the other guy mentioned it's sniper heaven which doesn't help either, in my personal experience most snipers can't hit the broad side of a planet, when it first dropped the buildings where also pretty rough by design, fighting in buildings is better now on Kyoto but it used to be a genuine tragedy to wind up in an indoor fight.

it doesnt have to be completely new. they could change the starlight hollow removing some parts of the village and instead add a part of a castle inside, with some rivers and lakes,etc.

thus it would be a map with half a village, lik 40 percent a castle, and the rest a lake. that would make it a lot easier for embark since theyre not making a new map by scratch, rather just tweaking an alr existing map.

I think they're going to do 3 seasons of Medieval content.
S10 is the introduction of the new 3rd faction
S11 will either be an escalation of this new faction vs Multico or CNS (With a full Medieval Cashout map)
S12 will be a three way standoff between all three of them.

Next season is either going to be a normal Medieval map at the Spire, or it's going to have some glitchy CNS spots based on SYS or Nozomi

The attacker spawn is entirely wide open and very often defenders will lock attackers into a shooting gallery where they are instantly mowed down by defenders. Additionally, there is basically no persistent cover or debris so the story of "defenders shoot into the wide open area" repeats over and over and over. It's an incredibly unfun map to play.

Not a bad take, but just think of how sick it would be (for point break especially), that the attacking team, sieges the big castle entrance and tear down the big gates.

The whole point of a map castle is the fact that u break the defense and siege inside the castle with your comrades, while you can appreciate a beautiful sunset on the bloody battlefield.

The entire map being the inside of the castle itself is not bad, but I think sieging it with actually lived in surrounding would make it even more immersive (which is one of the strong points of The Finals)

the abstract maps like the stadiums and nozomi citadel feel noticeably more enjoyable than the realistic location-scouted ones

Real question, has The Finals ever had a true domination/hardpoint style mode? Obviously Power Shift is a team king of the hill with a moving platform. Point break is sort of a demolition style mode. But I'm talking where you simply earn points for being in the objective? First team to X amount of points wins?

I ask because I think that while point break is definitely fun, the ability to spawn trap and then also just hold a single point is too powerful for the defending team, especially with limited lives for the attacking team. But a true hardpoint mode with A, B, and C points would make it a little more user friendly instead of just rushing in and dying instantly.

But that's still capture the flag style with a singular flag is it not? I haven't played it yet, but that's what it seemed like to me. I basically want Point Break but without the vaults needing planted. Three objective points that are being fought over by two teams until either the time runs out or one team accumulates X amount of points for the win.
