yeah, typically find a reference in this case, this beautiful thingy from pinterest (with sadly no actual owner i could find just a spam bot who posts a bunch of diffrent art for references. Then just the sketching and deleting until i find something semi nice

i see, i would play around with transparency and a bit better shapes. Good reference for this style would be Arcane smoke vfx. just like this one. Dont mind the shape rn, but it could use some variation. Best way to think about it is big medium small. Also maybe the character is a little too small? Would be more cool if it was a little zoomed in. Hopefully that helps

nice to hear. smoke is definitely hard to learn. It relies heavily on shapes. I learned shape design from sinix on youtube and ahmed alduri. I am no expert but im also available to help out, overpaint or anything like that, so just lmk

They should make this into a KS skin for the heavy. You load in batteries as the shells for a non empty reload and you clean the game disk for a full reload along with adding new batteries. Love the idea for this.

So it was tougher than I thought it would be, but i think i got something that you could work with. Main thing i did is make the character actually come out of the smoke and add some movement to the smoke around the character. I also made the shape a little more playful and tried to make sense of the shadows. Best way to make smoke or cloud is to think big shapes first like i did in the showcase, make the shadow first and divide it into more shapes with light. Always divide with big medium small. I might have gotten a bit too far into realism, but if u want u can just tone down the values and paint with more solid colors. I also think to sell the smoke more, u can do the smoke coming out from the mask. I provided a guide for the pose anatomy and lighting in the last pic. 1st pic is composition variation that might look cool, if u want to further work on it and make the background dark or really bright, like a contrasting blueish color or something. Hopefully it helps, and if u have any further questions, lmk @modern shard

advice for embark would be to really really learn more skills, learn how to do environment art in engine

they are typically quite expansive roles and wont just do 2d or 3d etc

If it’s the dock ur referring to, when I drew that one that was actually from me sitting on my friends porch looking out onto the water drawing my POV. When I started to black out the landscapes I kinda accidentally cut the dock up with the black on accident so I just kinda bit the bullet and went for it anyway.
But in my POV the dock was on the same plane as the landscape across the water, while the reflection was “above” it

Idk if you can do that on clip studio I've never seen that setting usually if you use scaling it just makes everything crunchy on there I just lowered the canvas resolution to get it under 5mb and the only thing that suffered was like the character in the far background

I think in this pose specifically as the character jumps up, the curves in the motion are kinda lacking, so I think you might need to adjust the rotation in the hands here so they properly match the motion they follow upwards

They're just to the side and I think they need to follow the "line" of the motion better

Otherwise the poses are clear and the action is readable, I very much enjoy this blocking phase
