Thanks man! And yeah, MJ works best when you are vague and specific at the same time, if that makes sense. So, think of it as giving a high level overview of what you want, and only being specific about the details that are important to you. My normal flow is to start with hitting all the important details in the first prompt. I’ll post the prompts I used to get to the combat medic samurai in the first image I posted.

Some people will do a really vague prompt and let MJ do it’s thing and keep rolling it until they see something they like

And yeah, I use remaster once I find one I like. I’ll upscale and remaster then remix from there. Or if I see one I like in the grid but want to add to it, I’ll remix before upscaling

But yeah, those keywords make a big difference. If you use things like hyperrealistic, photorealism, or octane render, you’re going to get a lot of painterly type effects, or CG looking outputs because those are usually used to describe paintings and 3d art. If you want something closer to a photo of a real person, use photography terms like “portrait” or “fashion photography”.

So, to breakdown the prompt. If you put a + that makes it a multi prompt. You can add more than just one initial prompt. The order determines the weight MJ will give each prompt. So the first prompt in the line has more influence than the second. If you want to weight the prompts individually you can add “::” and a number after the prompt. So “samurai girl::2 combat medic::1 white jacket::1” this would give the first prompt twice as much influence as the second two, but the second two are still weighted equally.

The descriptors that are separated by “,” are kind of like influencers. They are technically prompts I think, but they are more used to describe the overall effect, style, or influence you’re going for. These are also given weight by the order they are written.

Then the modifiers at the end tell the model what to do, what version of the model you want inference from, what aspect ratio, stuff like that.

So —test and —testp are two different modifiers. —test is more lenient and let’s the model have more freedom to interpret your promoted text and —testp is more strict to the prompt. It doesn’t take as much creative liberties as —test does, and kind of ingests your prompt as literal. There isn’t much interpretation. —creative is exactly what it sounds like. It will give the output more of MJ’s specific artistic flair and freedom to interpret. —v 3 is the model version I want to use. Some models are better than others depending on what your goal is. —v 3 is good about photorealistic stuff. So I usually pair —testp and —v 3 together to get closer to a real life look. And then you pair those two with —creative and it will keep the model strict to the prompt while also giving it the ability to interpret your prompt the way it wants.

Lol no problem man! And yeah, the prompts can get pretty intricate! Also, the best thing you can do is enable remix mode. Idk why it’s no on by default, but it lets you work on a single piece without generating completely new variations. Just send “/settings” to midjourney bot in a direct message and make sure remix mode is green. When remix is on, every time you click new variation or any of the v1 - v4 buttons, it will give you the ability to adjust your prompt before it makes a new variation.

i mean its not a bad mech its on par with the Arolis which is its Alcorian counterpart. The Knight boasts thick armor for a medium mech, a relatively small 37mm cannon, a good armament of machine guns, a decent top speed, and Nervelink compatibility.
While the Arolis boasts an averagely powerful 40mm, a .50cal on its front, tons of machine guns, good top speed, good agility, and also Nervelink compatibility.

Tempestium is the gas form of magic, it is very floaty when electrocuted making it PERFECT for airships. When charged it wants to go up, and will resist going horizontal, meaning powerful engines are typically needed to go fast at higher altitudes.

Alestium is the solid form of magic, it forms rapidly Alestium hotzones from ambient magic being sucked into them and compressed. When compressed it is filled with an explosive natural magic, so when it is mined it needs to be slightly cut to allow that magic to drain. Once it is cut though it can be shaped into crystals, which can hold magic and allow people and vehicles to use spells for various things

The whole story is centered around the crew of an Arolis class medium mech in the early stages of the Alcorian-Oscarian war.

The main character is the pilot, suffered from an abusive father who forced her to work on a farm, so she has quite a bit of experience with piloting agriculture mechs.

After killing her father and escaping she is arrested, though she makes a deal to enlist in the military to avoid going to jail.

At this point everyone knows a war is coming but it hasnt happened yet

Thats all i got for now still going over stuff

A big focus for this story will be on brutal realism

Lots of things.

Alcoria and Oscario have very similar cultures and were very close diplomatically for a long time. Oscarian culture worships spirits which they see as a bridge between mortals and gods, so they believe that they are just helping other religions worship.
So when Alcoria decides to do a religious reform to separate the countries' politics from religion Oscario really disliked this.

Alcoria was one of the countries that supported the corrupt International Union, who would have countries buy the ability to make their voice heard so the more impoverished nations never had a say in anything.

Alcoria sheltering terrorists who were believed to be responsible for the death of the Director of Oscario's son was a catalyst to the whole conflict.

all the gods are real in this world, every culture has some degree of truth in it.

Oscario is weird due to how it is ruled, sometimes its reasons for doing things are just cruel or corrupt, other times it has just reasons.

so it has a Director who controls the country and its military, and the Monarch who controls diplomatic affairs, can veto things the Director does, and can also propose things to the state council.
The state council is made up of all the heads of state, they vote on things the Monarch proposes or vetos. If they can not decide it goes to a public vote though that is rare.
States can function very independently, their militaries and laws can be entirely different. If Oscario were to declare war on some country, states could chose to just not join in (though due to how much power being a hero of war can get you most never do that).
State leaders function as generals and commanders for the armies of the states they lead, and they can become a Director if they are decided on by some sort of cryptic process i havnt got lore for yet

I need to ask tho, how did you end up with that unique artstyle? Does it just come naturally? Or did you had to think about it and design each new artwork with that in mind? Because it feels so cohearant the colours and linework and stylization etc

Well, when I started drawing 6 years ago, i started with the ambition to draw not to be someone else but to be myself because if I don't, no one else will do it for me. So I just found my style by listening to my heart and my head from the beginning, it evolves and I still have a lot to learn.

I look at references for a while, I feed my brain, and when I draw I let my brain reconstruct its images without having them in front of me, so they will be false but it allows me to transcribe them into my style

wierd process but it work for me lmao

My style is yet to be decided though i have just been drawing tons of peoples styles and combining them eventually to make my own style i guess?

i kinda have a general artstyle i kinda want to go with

i know i need something that fits with a highly technical and detailed world
