because eventhough I have a 1440p monitor, it does accept a 4k signal

so I can just use 4k and then put dlss on quality which ends up just slightly below 1440p (goes from 3840x2160->2534x1425)

(a 33% loss in quality, but this does not matter since the monitor only has a 1440p panel) 2534x1425 (dlss quality) ->
(signal is transformed back into 4k as a side-effect of how I got the 3840x2160 option to show up in the first place) 3840x2160 (gpu scaling) ->
(a 1.05% loss in quality considering that the 4k signal was just upscaled from 2534x1425 anyways) 2560x1440 (monitor scaling)

the gpu having to scale the signal back up to 4k before sending it to the monitor only for the monitor to downscale it back to 1440p anyways seems like a waste of performance though

and also the monitor can only accept up to a 4k 90hz signal so im not getting my full 165hz this way (not that im getting 165fps anyways)

so ideally I would have the monitor set to 1440p 165hz but somehow have the games starting at a 4k resolution before dlss activates

The main reason why TF2 succeded is the fact that you have complete freedom over your loadout, cosmetics are cheap as few cents, nobody takes the game seriously apart from highlander leagues and cherry on top is the fact that this game has a vaierity with both gamemodes and people you meet.
One match might be full of competetive pyros, demos and soldiers all of which use different weapons for their liking which makes each encounter different or you can meet fernando.gonzalez.2007 that just booted up tf2 for the first time and has o idea why he can'r aim down sights.

Meanwhile in Overwatch you know exactly what class does what and it wont ever change, every map is and plays literally the same and nobody has a slightest amount of chill meaning encounters like conga line with entire server or headbutting with enemy medic followed by a killbind by both of you will never happend

I'm kind of hoping for a special edition down the line that adds more stuff and polishes everything, but I was super impressed by how intricate and detailed the patch notes were. Seems they're really listening to community feedback. (Short king summer ❤️ )

I went through the patchnotes but they're all really nitty-gritty bugfixes and minor polish things, doesn't change the gameplay experience significantly

next patch should have performance improvements for the city environments, that should be a big deal

To put that in perspective how much money that is - stock fleet carrier costs 5bil credits, fully upgraded one is 7.3bil credits, most expensive ship costs little over 200mil (upgrading it as a combat ship which is most expensive build costs around 1.2bil credits) and most missions that pay the best do not tend to go over 12-15mil credits per mission the only exception being "wing cargo run" missions that always pay 50mil and require working with minimum of 3 other people and are tedius, boring and annoying asf.

But backing up to the topic of health and TTK - medium might've feel a bit tanky at times because of how the game operates - you can two shot a light class with a grenade launcher while playing as medium, but a light class would've need to get up close and personal and either shoot you with a pistol few times or dump almost entire mag from the smg, the TTK potential for medium class is simply way bigger than the other class have but this is being balanced by heavy being almost unkillable if it's being used properly and light by being extremely fast

You can sort each class by a category: Light - Scout/Infiltrator, Medium - DPS/Main firepower of the team, Heavy - Tank/Supressor
Sure, the balance during both betas wasn't perfect, especially if we wanna talk about the medic beam but overall the classes themselves seem pretty fine to me, it's the equipement that needs heavy balancing

Hasn't Blizzard also done the same thing with OW2, monitoring voice chats (not confirmed yet with AI)? I get why they're doing this because of the number of times I've heard players drop slurs in comp shooters, but this specific example here does just appear to be another sign of the execs and other higher ups just trying to save face, being too greedy to take a pay cut and not allocating enough money and resources to the moderation teams (who will understand context better for fairer moderation than an AI). It could work, but still.

I also consider the games and tech industries to be alike in some respects because no one really knows how it works. I've seen a small dev team of like 4 full time staff developing a Roblox game complain that their players want new assets very quickly. Bigger studios and publishers will exploit technological illiteracy - it's why battle passes, loot boxes and the like remain widespread and problematic.

Starfield has its own take on space sim genre so you cannot compare it to the other games from that category that easy

Elite is an arcade space shooter focused almost exclusively on flying spaceships
NMS is focused on exploring, base building and gathering resources
SC aims to be most immersive, realistic and interactive space sim in the world
And Starfield is basically Skyrim in space with mechanics inspired by the games above

Building your own ship, hiring crew, exploring, fighting on foot and in space, taking contracts and missions ect.
