yeah the finals felt very easy to just sit and play, maybe it was just "new shiny toy" syndrome but it def felt like a good mix of games i typically enjoy anyway

that's not true at all when it comes to games though. there are very story rich games that leave the player up to interpretation on what's happening: see disco elysium.

i think in this case it's just the mindset you have. games aren't only there for you to be productive or improve on aspects. games were primarily created for us to have fun with. now, if you don't find enjoyment in singleplayer, then sure but saying that you don't get productive is said for competitive games as well, unless you're making a career or going to use what you're learning for yourself somewhere else.

games are for us to have fun with. if you don't find singleplayer games fun, then fair enough if your findings of having fun is to improve

but let's define it first, so we don't go off on a tangent: what do you find fun in video games?

the fact that everything is destructable, and that the gamemodes incentive playing with that, IMO makes THE FINALS gameplay loop feel special and stand out compared to other games

I think for me games have always been an outlet for my competitive drive as I used to play a ton of sports and slowly stopped as I got older

I find fun in being good, as stupid or conceited as that sounds, getting to the top 0.1% of the playerbase or whatever metric is what is fun to me

Which is why, in addition to the waning attention span, single player games just never really lit that fire under me

ok so there we have it. it's harsh to blame it on your diagnosis that you don't enjoy singleplayer games imo. it is what you define as having fun in regards to games. if you see them as a sport, then yeah there's the answer to why

ah I have more "problems" lets call them, that pretty significantly hamper my ability to enjoy gaming which is where the lack of motivation comes from. I don't blame it all on my diagnosis, as I do enjoy some singleplayer games, but I definitely think it plays a large role

nah this is pushing it, there is def variety but most adjacent states are very similar, the small differences just compound the further you go

especially washington and NYC

maybe im biased because ive travelled so much in europe because i grew up there, but you could drive for an hour in europe and be somewhere with a completely different cultural background and history and language, but if you drive for an hour in the states you end up in a very similar state with the exact same history but the accent is a teeny bit different

foods is a push, you might have a unique sandwhich or a special recipe from somewhere, but you get entire shifts in cuisine in europe

living conditions idk i could drive 30 minutes down the road and the living conditions are massively different

but eg LA and OC are cities within the same state, 40 mins away, and the people in LA are so fake. They talk to you and act really friendly, trying to figure out if you're rich or famous, then just move onto the next person if you're not. Where OC everyone is SO chill and friendly, there's not a day spent in, or heading to, OC where I haven't made a new mate

i would say in the US its more of a region thing with each region being different but within the region there are small differences if that makes sense
