Right now the Flamethrower only does damage in an invisible "beam" ahead from the barrel. So the actual effects of the fire don't really match the damage hitboxes, it's why people seem to think it's useless. I also don't know the "fire rate" of the beam to comment on it, but I would assume that it ticks with ammo count as a refresh for firing the "beam" I mentioned.

They did change some of it, it seems the Flamethrower has better refresh rate right now and also actually registers damage, problem is that it is still a beam weapon.

I got this weird bug where the sound keep crackling throughout the entire game. It'll only go away if i queue for a new map

• Grapple Hook actually works now, during Alpha it refused to work half the time.
• Hitreg of buildings is more stable, there was frequent issues getting stuck in narrow areas such as doorways and just being unable to move.
• General hitreg of debris is much better, had many cases during Alpha where if you got squashed by debris you sometimes just insta-die or teleport under the map.
• Flamethrower was changed from a 100 ammo / 100 tick weapon to a... Feel like 40 ammo / 200 tick weapon? Maybe 300 tick. (Basically changing how the refresh rate of the flamethrower produces damage to be more consistent)
• There is actually character customisation now. During Alpha your character was pre-gen random and couldn't have hair (they didn't have it working at the time)
• Events for maps didn't work correctly in Alpha, does now in CB.
• Deployables got a hard cap, prior to CB you had infinite of things and the only gate for it was refresh time.
• Melee was borderline completely broken or just non-existent in Alpha, the knife is a new thing.
• Damage values such as drop-off for things were either too strong or didn't exist (You could beam people with the AK in Alpha from the other side of the map because it had basically zero recoil and zero damage drop off, also it had too high base damage)
• Damage values across the board have been tuned, pistol used to take like 2.5 mags to kill a heavy, no longer.
• Fire now actually interacts with the game world.

That's off the top of my head. Alpha was very, very barebones skeleton of the game.
