If you dislike the idea of a team protecting another team, then gamemodes with more than 2 teams isn't for you. Even in quickcash you'll see a team ensure a team with $0k gets the cashout over the team with $10k. It's not a matter of teaming, it's using the strategies of the game to give yourself the best advantage.

It took me from 4, when I started chess, to years of chess summer camps, chess club, tournaments, and eventually at 12, I had first beat my father at chess.

It was only by facing better players and time, and lots of losing, that got me to the point that now he can never beat me.

There are diamond 3's in rubies. So frame your perspective of, "If you're in plat, you'll be facing diamonds" doesn't matter if they're top 500 or not.
