You are pubishing melee for the sins of the SA1216 and ShAK-50. There's already the issue of Light being able to just dash away from the melee weapons after the pull. Or Medium using Demat or Jump Pad.

It just seems way more fair to have the winch only pull targets to like 6m away with no lingering stun on weapons like the SA1216. Leaves space to toss a Goo or simply gtfo and you aren't in the midst of the enemy team.

They say they think melee should be viable. Well, neutering the spec that is very commonly used with melee for enemies at range ain't gonna help.

melee has its downsides for a reason, and winch would still give you range for melee
people made sledge work before winches addition, and people still do
winch is a problem that affects every weapon on heavy. it stops ks from being buffed, and it got sledge nerfed.
if weapons have weaknesses in their specific range that's a balancing issue of the weapon, not a spec
weapons and specs should not affect eachother in this way, at all.
a spec that rewards you heavily in 12m? that's a problem.
a weapon that works effectively in its range of 3m and rewards everything melee should reward you with? that's not a problem.
the only reason sword got changed was because it was unintended, it was a bug that was heavily used. dash didn't get nerfed because of sword, and (for the most part) sword didn't get nerfed because of dash.

Unfair to say sledgehammer users made it work before, because the entire game was different balance wise.

They'll still be objectively worse off than they were. There's been a shit ton of power creep and the meta weapons will delete you before you are even able to close the distance.

My suggestion makes it worse on the problem weapons, while leaving the balanced options unaffected. Win-win. It also lets them more finely tune it in the future. Once they add a new animation, with a set length, it could be over a year for any buffs if they make it too easy to avoid.

Which class? I hear heavy it's; winch, shotgun, bubble shield, RPG, and goo (I think) because of the ability to manipulate cashouts.
Mediums; I hear the healing beam, scar, goo, defibrillators, and jump pad is the meta due to the support capabilities.
Lights; I hear the dodge, assault rifle/mp5, portals, breaching equipment (like c4), and sonar is a meta load out due to the DPS.

a good idea to winch i heard was adding a parry window. if someone uses their quick melee at teh time the winch would land, it instead gets deflected. it would be a tight window but adds room for players to use their own skill and reaction time to fight back

again, it's a information nightmare for the game, and even if it were to be changed for those specific weapons, it wouldn't be enough to deter its usage, since it's problematic on EVERYTHING
it's stun being changed would work for melee for further range pulls, since they would either be out of position, and would have to slowly find where the heavy winched you from. and it would make it less problematic in cqc since you would already be looking at them, so instead of them getting rewarded with first shot and turning a losing 1v1 around, they would just lose that 1v1 for a unsmart usage of their spec

but TTKs on repeater are dogshit compared to the automatics and unlike the BFR, you have 250 instead of 350.

Nah the spawns are super unfair a lot of the time. But actually they tend to discourage third parties. But they also means if you wipe and respawn while still un control of a Cash Out that has 2 teams on it, you won't be allowed to spawn close to it.

UPDATE, explosions are a counter to smoke! Explosions take a chunk per explosive. So a single grenade won't clear a smoke grenade. But unloading a grenade launcher will clear a smoke grenade (from a medium) with 3-4 shots

A single grenade can clear a smoke grenade... kind of. It can physically propel the cloud away, and when entering the remaining smoke after a grenade explodes in it, you will be able to see through it almost as though it wasn't there. The smoke particles remain, but the smoke haze goes away.

I think it's possible Embark has a massive communication problem.

Cause the balance changes also often feel downright contradictory to each other.

Buff Cerberus to 1887's level in the same patch they nerf the 1887.

Buff XP-54 to be just better than the ARN they add in the same patch.
