goo grenades trap them, glitch mines or grenades basically disable them, lights with dash or grapple can easily keep their distance, flamethrower / CL-40 makes killing them really easy, spear is effective against them, lockbolt works effectively against them, winch claw pretty much guarantees a kill on them, charge and slam is quite effective, demat can be used on medium to stay away from them quite effectively

And the biggest counter is just... having a teammate nearby. It just can't work against a cohesive team

The maximum achievability in ranked for a common gamer is GOLD. New players are still allowed to join ranked.. I serieusly start to think this is a monopoly. Giving your inner circle and anyone who is valued to the company,. the upperhand and to prevent a larger competative world. It almost looks like a inside job, where you hire people to make "fake" second accounts to ruin a fair competitor's progress.

You need a way to gain distance that they can't use, so medium needs goo nades. Heavy; dodge, dip duck, dive and dodge 🤣. Light obviously gtfo. I use grapple a lot, it can out speed and range dash. But dash users can dodge a sword and brawl or juke them out of dash and then open the gap. It's really hard if the sword user is covered by a teammate or you need to stay in close with the cashout.
