For swords, use glitch traps or some sort of mine. Pyros and Explosive mines put sword users in a coffin more often than not, swordplay gets shutdown really quickly by mines.
Throwing knives, I'd say use glitch traps and goos. To be fair, Throwing Knives are a little less common to see and it's primarily because they require much more precision, very rewarding for crosshair placement.
Word of advice though, Lights hate fire, easiest way to keep them at bay.

The skill ceiling is pretty high, but thats mostly in world tour and ranked.
