Have you heard the large explosions on the map? Ever seen the big purple mushroom cloud? That's a spice explosion! It leaves behind a big purple blotch in the sand, and you can use a compactor to collect spice from it.

More tower tinkering. Adding a horizontal stake. This gave me room to build a nice garage with private and public hide from storm space and can be driven in from either end. The roof of the garage now has the wind turbines and windtraps with plenty room for more/larger later. All storage and crafting, except deathstills & water, on the same floor now.

You can barrel roll in glide without losing speed or altitude but if you want to do a loop you gotta get into a decent dive upwards of like 180 kmh and the thopter physics will bleed all your speed at the apex of the loop

A fun thing I discovered last night is that if you exceed your flight ceiling your engine will overheat and fuel consumption increases, right?

well I climbed to the top of the Fangs of Mariqeb several hundred meters above the flight ceiling of a scout thopter and launched my bird out of its mouth in a steep dive

The engine will immediately overheat, and it will flush the entire fuel tank

and that's how I ended up hurtling at 200 kmh into a sandstorm over sheol with no gas

i’m guessing it doesn’t consume any fuel while in vulture mode even at high altitudes right? i haven’t really flown around at high altitudes like at all but my understanding was that as long as you are climbing up while gliding you can remain as high as you want with no fuel difference

Once you start to reach the top of the ceiling indicator on your HUD you will see your heat start to shoot up rapidly - you can keep ascending for maybe a few seconds

I think at that point the optimal play is to stop ascending just before you hit the heat point and then try to maintain the perfect glide slope to max your glide speed while maintaining altitude as long as possible

and then if you have boosters, you will be able to outrun the rocket thopters

staking units go either to all sides or up and down. on your case there is a dungeon beneath you which prevents you from using the staking unit. you may want to remove your sub-fief console and place a new one 3 foundations higher. be careful that no-one is around since your base becomes lootable without a sub-fief console.

Fun fact, level 3 has almost double the momentum of 1 for claw, it's not just distance. So even if you shoot both at close range, level 3 will get yeeted much further. Also for hatches, I copied the helios gate npc base and just perma leave hatches open

I always use it since it's such a well done skill, it's either superb travel or an easy combat stun with low cd. If you grapple a melee dude you can go right into a shield piercing melee. Or interrupt heavies

I lost another Assault to a server reset for a patch, but got no notifications of it happening. MID flight in DD.. I was eaten

I lost another to the final journey that just takes your Ornithopter and still counts it towards your owned vehicles while you actually have no way to access or find it.

My final straw was farming spice, filling my assault chopper and on the last pile... I could no longer interact with the spice. Turned around and could not interact with my Assault.... I was eaten

All within 48 hours

I have managed to do some goofy ah stuff in my thopter from aileron rolls, barrel roles, as best of rudder rolls as Dune allows, divebombing and just barely kissing the sand, slow rolls, "express elevator to hell" max altitude to surface "drops"

Also, for those that wonder how others post pics without the HUD being in the way while in vehicles or even on foot, hit F6, it will hide the UI features until you press it again. Think of it like PhotoMode Lite

suspensor lights do not trigger the worm no matter how many of them you put on open sand

you can spam as many suspensor lights on wormsand as you want

regular ground lights do trigger the worm but floating suspensor lights get ignored by the worm altho it can still destroy them it cant aggro to them

you can then use these suspensor lights placed on the sand as points to target with the grappeling hook

should be fixed because its very innacurate from a lore perspective since worm hates holtzman field and suspensor lights are using holtzman field to suspend themselves the worm should get extreamly pissed about the floating lights but ya it just ignores them

they also work to block enemy ground vehicles in the DD

Doubt it matters much since you have limited lights so most don't spend them on wormsand

it does matter as in PVP in the deep desert the floating lights can block vehicles ornithopters bug out when colliding with them buggys cant pass them

you could easily use it to exploit in pvp just throw down a sub fief place the lights and you have set up a trap for vehicles to glitch out on

im not sure if large spice blooms are no build zones but if they are not no build zones you could prevent sand crawlers from being used by spamming lights everywhere over the spice patch
