When you have more than one stacks of Aegis' ultimate, activating it will set off it's effect but the second "charge" is consumed but will start it's cooldown after activation during the effect.
Hence triggering the ultimate makes the second charge "cooldown" start during the effect.

Yeah, that makes sense to me
But with only one accension ability the cooldown doesn't start until after the duration is finished

Yeah, so it uses up all charges available, but while it's active it's as if it's using just 1 charge.
So the other charges can still charge up.
