Shadowbringers was very controversial at the start. SE got a lot of criticism because of the Thancred fakeout, Ranjit and Il Mheg

and because of Emet

people didn't realize how good it was after talking a lot in forums and social media about the story

I found the Il Mheg part fascinating, since it was a really good depiction of the fae as capricious but not necessary malicious creatures who are nonetheless extremely dangerous with a completely alien perspective compared to mortals.

Also, Feo Ul is the most underrated ShB character.
