They exchanged words, and Noah, rather peacefully, accepted the assassination. The body was burned, Lyon burned his chambers (Noah's notes expand this to Castrum Valnaini in its entirety), and they fled.

After this, the IVth crumbled and the Dalmascan Resistance swiftly dismantled what remained. -- 3 months later, Sicinius was turned in by a bounty hunter to the Rumta-Zaram, a Dalmascan organization specializing in chasing escaped war criminals. Shortly after this transaction, however, they realized the bounty hunter was Lyon himself- somehow, even Sicinius was unaware of this. - He was also, still, accompanied by Papaga at this time. They both were able to flee before the Rumta-Zaram recognized either.

It was not destined to last, however, as Ganpp's fighting days were cut short by an incurable illness. As he lay bedridden, he formally accepted Pagaga as his foster child, that she may bear the Vochstein name in his stead. As he breathed his last, she vowed to build upon her father's legacy by becoming the greatest beastmaster of them all, and one day surpass Lyon himself.

There's another reason for doing it like this, that fits into the themes of Matsuno's work as a whole. If we see his work as a way of illustrating the horrors and sorrows of war, Mikoto's foreshadowing of her own death reflects the idea of a soldier going to the battlefield, knowing that they're likely not going to come back. This may not be 'how heroes do it' but, you know, a soldier can't just talk to someone to get out of it and still be on that battlefield.
