SO, theory time: ||Those towers, as already said, are siphoning off the land's aether. it heavily hinted at hydaelyn considering she's technically the planet and that her heart is an ancient. I'm gonna go with the 'what if' that is, what if the dreamer is not hydaelyn but rather that 'something' from deep beneath the earth. And that garlemald tower fandaniel so lovingly called 'gateway of (wait was it 'of' or 'to') the gods' is most likely an allusion to tower of babil but how...I mean, could be that it's a means to access the aetherial sea because, in 3.4, it was made clear that you can essentially access that crystal plain thing through the aetherial sea. And while we don't have as much info as we could about it but we do know that, in a way, Zodiark exists in a similar manner as Hydaelyn as is that one cutscene that showed Zodiark as a crystal for a few seconds would tell us.||
||So maybe that's how Zenos is planning to essentially take over Zodiark. His lines in final cutscene also mentioned "gorge upon a sea of souls" which, again, could refer to the aetherial sea from which all souls return to. Question is, what exactly do the Sharlayan know of this. And how are they related to the towers. One of the dungeon previews also showed Ancient architecture near the end and not to mention there's very subtle similarities to the few buildings in the unnamed sky area to the city of Amaurot.||
Dunno if people already theorized some of this...they probably did, people go through lore without leaving a single crumb of info left unchecked

so I'm really curious to see if they're going to borrow themes from that

that the act of changing the future and creating another timeline may play a role in all of this

Hydaelyn was summoned specifically to sunder Zodiark, as the Calamities happen Zodiark gets stronger (he also gets his aether rejoined) and in proportion this weakens Hydaelyn. Also since she is in the lifestream, any disruption to it will damage her in some fashion.

I think people underestimate how much Louisoix leaving was a thorn in the side of Fourchenaut. Five years ago, his father got into a fight with him, personally, and left, and never came back.
