DRK in FFXIV does have that HP sacrifice thematic going on - taking damage from bosses is the only really acceptable way you're going to make that work without getting locked out of PFs, which is why it's a tank, and the TBN->Edge deal is sort of a get hit->counterattack deal

Though it plays the whole sacrifice game a lot more directly with mana

Also in HW it had reprisal which required you to get hit (and parry I think?) but that got yoinked to become a cross-class skill
