For ShB:

Trailer begins with giving a very dramatic display of the state of the world, even if it’s just Gyr Abania. But it’s made to look as if the whole world is nearly perished and all that remains is WoL and Zenos. The victor here pretty much decides the aftermath of the realm. This was the message conveyed at least!

We have WoL looking as if he’s quite tired, the spark in his eyes are gone, he’s a tired man.

The next scene makes use of this and further makes WoL look even more done. It gave a misleading message that whenever he is, he failed. The world he was in, was near barren, and this monster shows up taunting that “no lives left to save”, reinforcing the misleading message of we failed. The echo vision gives us an even stronger vibe on this, sort of like “we’ve done all this and yet here we are, broken.”

The stakes are raised beyond anything.
We have failed, the world is in ruin, we are tired and visibly alone.

Then shows up a monster literally made to look like a heroic entity, they’re flashy and well adorned, in contrast to our broken state, almost giving us a villainous feel, a villain who lost, which gave the misleading message that we not only lost but our loss made us say “fuck it” and now we’re villains.

We see further of ruination somewhere and our friends show up, also giving the “its all gone to shit and now we have lost our temper and fighting it as anti heroes.” The whole cape and Urianger’s dialogue with Y’shtola’s replies all gave that vibe as well.

Then comes our silver tongued white haired fox man. He’s already known to have been a street urchin in the past, we see him comment how things have changed and we see him fighting a monster clearly representing the Amdapori lion, so giving us further false message that we are probably fighting the states now. BUT WAIT! “I’m not going anywhere, I promise you Minfilia” that bit, whether you liked her or not, shook everyone.

Exarch’s narration was also the best thing we’ve ever seen, every line he spoke was dramatic and goddamn were they good, the whole “if history must be unwritten”

EW lacks all of these, theres now “WOAH WTF HOW WOWWW” moment
