So FFXI was going to have a necromancer class back in the day, but the game used a night/day system which didn't work with the job. It then turned into the Puppetmaster job where you controlled an automaton that took on different jobs/roles.
I can see necromancer being something similar to that. Summoning undead or demon characters but your character takes on the characteristics. But who knows.

Sucks. The daily/weekly marks system is shit as is, and the S/A spawns don't spawn enough, seemingly give no indicator of their presence and require Discord hunt trains (which end up being massive and laggy)

A small sliver is nonsense. Hunts are the most efficient way to cap weekly tomes and are participated in by a huge swathe of the population.
