didnt seem to stop him fighting ardbert
Act like it's a big deal that he has to fight without magic
Every garlean they said that reality everyday
Just throw some magitek on it and call it a life hack.
What if Captain basch fon ronsenburg of dalmasca is the new job?
Do you think they'll ever make dalmasca visitable in the game or will they try to avoid making it a Game Zone for as long as possible while dodging any questions about it
rob avoiud it for now
The Sage is considered to be a powered-up version of the Red Mage job, but it lacks the physical offense in exchange for focusing on Black and White arts
But its a healer xD
All good
Was Reaper in a old ff game?
uhh
depends on how you define "reaper"
because "reaper" doesn't mean anything by itself
FFXI used scythes for Dark Knight though
Just recently found out Sage was in older games, idk about Reaper or Necromancer
That's a badass weapon
But I doubt it be that long in ffxiv lol
IIRC she used the scythe and was mainly physical but she did use some kinda darky magick
Can't wait to see how it looks!
And wonder what they meant when we can tell the difference between pure healers and barrier healers. The icons changing?
I assume they just meant the way White Mage and Scholar works
the difference will be if you died or not
Scholar working mainly by applying shields
and pure healer by just raw healing
where Astro could kinda do either or
but they'll just straight up split them into the two types now
Only in one game. Sage, like Scholar, and Dancer, has never really had one consistant job 'thing' in the same sense as Ninja (Dual Wields, throws ninjutsu), Black Mage (big elemental explosions), or Monk (fist fighter fighting with fists)
What Calfirma said--this was always what they've meant by a barrier vs pure healer.
Imo the way they were describing barrier healer, makes me think it be more fun to dps on that instead of being on a pure healer job
In practice, the 'pure healer' actually gets more potencies out of their casts, so the idea the 'barrier healer' has more time to dps is silly.
"Barrier healer has more time to dps" is really gonna be our bizarre pre-expac fixation this time isn't it
Scholar had more time to dps in ARR because their primary heals, (Lustrate, Embrace, Whispering Wind), didn't scale with any stat nerfs (either being statless or pet scaled based on when she was summoned) and so they could park in Cleric Stance with impunity so long as they had aetherflow.
I just hope its like a Gunbreaker where it makes you feel like a dps in a healer role
Like how Gunbreaker is a tank but feels like a dps
GNB rotation is very distinctly a tank rotation
idk how people say it feels like a dps
It feels like an ARR dps
Disgusting
'Scholars only want one thing and it's fucking disgusting'
...is it Cleric stance? I'm sorry since I don't play healer all that often I really don't know the joke
yeah
Uuuuugh noooo
I never did Thok around the Clock
So can anyone see the towers or do you have to be at that point in the msq?
Does anybody want do a quick plow through ravana EX?
This bites. If I had known doing this Quest was going to matter in a later expansion I would have actually done it when it was new
I mean, just solo them
Unless you're a tank/healer it should be pretty easy
and even then, WAR has an easy time too
Yeah you can pretty much solo that
Yes
I think its not soloable
I can say with absolute certainty that it is
because i did it to unlock the Void quests
Not sure but im sure Sephirot ex isnt soloable except if youre a good tano
Tano
Oh if normal should be easy to solo
I think they're talking about normal
Tank*
Normal is soloable
EX is soloable too but much harder, of course
though idk if thats even true now that BLU is a thing
I was trying some shit with BLU last night
and i havent quite mastered the timing but i'm like 99% certain you can final sting kill Nael before the golem phase transition
Got her to ~2% on the sting a couple of times
see i can solo her normal but extreme nael...i tried and couldnt get far
Eh?
not sure we're talking about the same thing
there's no such thing as "extreme nael"
well, unless you count Ruby Weapon
lol
but cant undersize current content
there is savage nael
which is kinda like extreme but yeah not the same terminology for raids
I need a 2nd for Bis ex
Impossible to do without on a count of the adds that need to be kept apart
You just need sufficient burst to kill one add before they tether
You can do it on WAR, as ive done it myself. Can do it on probably most any DPS too.
and i suspect BLU would probably just dumpster them
I've done it on PLD in 5.0, but it was kinda messy since the burst didn't fully kill one, so had to finish it when they were stacked, really slowly
GNB/WAR/DRK could all do it in 5.0, PLD can probably do it fine now with 500+ gear, or at least better
healers are gonna be somewhat sucky for it though
Yeah healer would be the only role that would be shit at that
Fans: I want Chemist or Geomancer
SE: We present you Sage!
Fans: F Yeah!! Forget those other jobs!
and yeah BLU makes it a joke, I've done bismark EX twice for my khloe book now on BLU and it still takes 3+mins because of all the stupid cutscene and waiting but everything dies within seconds
I wish you could sting the body directly in the first phase, instead of having to hit the carapace
Its kind of funny that BLU went from "its pretty good but whatever" to "this bursts twice as hard as my opener on my 80 DPS job without even using final sting"
@floral aurora I don't think people really cared about what the job was they just wanted a Healer which baffles me because most of them are DPS Mains anyway lol
Think most just want an actual fun healer
Well I don't think people would play healer if they didn't find it fun
You underestimate the power of appealing to certain players senses.
Imagine getting on a video game and playing something you don't enjoy out of obligation.
How many fucking "i've never played a tank before" GNB's did we get inundated with when that came out
I seen some switch to dps this expansion
@unique verge and how many tank mains we're more concerned about what their main tank was going to get in regards to changes rather than the shiny new job?
Thats...only reinforcing my point
GNB primarily appealed to non-tanks
SGE seems to be primarily appealing to bored SCH's and non-healers
My Scholars level 70 and I might give it another go
considering we haven't seen shit about their kits, not really?
@final isle but they have Gundam funnels
Its less about the kit and more about the theming and feel. GNB was pitched as "the DPS tank". SGE is being pitched as "the DPS healer"
even though its going to be balanced
which are a lot more appealing for DPS than a fairy
Who cares about mechanics and how they play they're new and shiny
And really, even though WHM is the true "DPS healer" so to speak
but healers just wanted another healer, it's not really DPS specifically that wanted another healer
SGE is very clearly being marketed to appeal to peoples DPS sensibilities
which is healthy for the game
because it gets more people who only play DPS to play another role
SAG*
For about a week
;)
What if healer but guns
Neko necro
A reality
I kind of feel like certain aspects of the community are going to become insufferable in a few months when its revealed
What if Moon but with oxygen
the "Scythe Job" fanatics
anything that involves a piece of metal that isnt 100% a straight line is gonna be claimed as "See, its a curved blade, its a scythe"
lol
Yes, new job confirmed Redguard
The next job for Final Fantasy XIV online
BTN mains rise up
@unique verge dammit you beat me to it
New job is cnj cuz edda a had sytche
Curved swords
CURVED.
SWORDS.
Actually if they did Mystic Knight they could pull off curved swords and dual wield them
That's a thought that's been floating around my head
And they could be from Thavnair
since we're going to India Thavnair
Although we just got a Thav job in Dnc
Something like this
on account of that region of IRL being known for various curved blades
That's a nice scythe
@unique verge I thought it was more well-known for its dancers and Alchemy
I'm referring to real world
@unique verge oh yeah
Thavnair is pretty heavily based on India by appearances
Does galaxy have 100 coin stars
and that region
It's Aht Urghan 2.0
@onyx sundial Mystic Knight
Honestly it's had different names all across the titles
Sorcerer Mystic Knight Rune Fencer
But Red Mage already slightly has a bit of that identity in its melee combo
Because it's not just attacking with a straight-up melee combo it's empowering the blade with magic which is why it does magic damage
Speaking of, Fleche and Contre Sixte aren’t magic damage.
They’re ranged physical damage for whatever reason
Also is alchemy indian? i thought it was from Greece or Rome, or somewhere in that stretch of southern-southeastern Europe
Egypt
Ah, opposite side of the Mediterranean
Alchemy picked up in popularity in Europe though
i vote for judge as new class just for shit and giggles
I still think that or a "Legatus themed" job is a reasonable liklihood. We'll see.
Just based on the armor types and expansion theming
Spellfencer would use Scouting gear

about the upcoming melee, did they give us some teaser like oh its gonna be melee with magic, something like that?
also since alphinaud changed into sage, will alisae get the other new class?
The only official thing we know
Well people speculate it might an scythe user
is that its "heavily implied' to be on the Maiming armor set
Because of yoshis tshirt
because in an interview, Yoshi-P specifically referenced Dragoons unique gear situation as a reason for picking a melee
ah the tshirt theory
well yeah i heard it might be scythe user or templar because the name of the singer or something
based on the interview, it's not implied - it's confirmed to be Maiming
Anything beyond that is pure speculation tinfoil madness
he clearly set they are fitting the new job into the Maiming slot
no way we get another nimble half naked melee
already got 3
It's like 95%+ confirmed. He didnt specifically say it was going on maiming in those words but he may as well have.
which class uses maiming in the game? i only know casting or healing lol
I just like to be specific on what is "confirmed" and not
So Maiming is basically near-certain, and that's all we really know for sure
Anyone claiming "its going to use this weapon" or "its going to be this job" is speculating their ass off
one Grim Reaper job, then a Children of Bodom job
for fans of the band, this screams a scythe job
i see... well scythe user seems to fit the maiming armor since its used in staff based class
iirc yoshi p said in the livestream that it wont be necromancer? he said its far from it or something like that no?
s.c.y.t.h.e.
personally I see this hint as someone obvious like how Batman and Scarlet Witch were
there was no red herring for those
won't be necro just for the fact that it goes against being the warrior of light
doesn't mean we can't have that weapon
what we need to speculate on is what the gimmick of the job will be
also, before 6.0, are you all excited for yet another meeting with the leaders of the city states?
all we can base it on is something with heavy armor, dps and wields a scythe
because it went very well the last time it was held
Eh, the gimmick would be largely dependent on the weapon.
and im really not sold on scythe
It feels way too samey with DRG
i'm gonna go with that judge weapon i posted yesterday, or some heavy ass weapon
with a large ass pommel
if anything scythe shows it is of the same family as DRG, but does the opposite thing
DRG has focused piercing strikes
Scythe cleaves widely
Scythe is kind of a shit-tier weapon type compared to the DRG spears, yet would have significant similarity in animations
how so? DRG is a stinger
~Haseo enters the chat
scythes are cleavers
People speculate it because Zenos has a scythe next to his throne
Zenos has "something" next to his throne
Anyone saying for certain that's a scythe is grasping hard
i'm not sold on the scythe anymore tbh. if you look back to it, it doesn't curve right, the whatever stick it was was too thin and there was no blade on it
Like, imagine if you will, a DRG holding a Scythe. You could see Chaos Thrust, Raiden Thrust, Coethan Torment, Wheeling Thrust, and to a certain degree Fang and Claw having animations that work.
How can that not be the top of a scythe?
nothing is 100%
because there's no blade to be seen
ofc it can't
Not only is no blade visible - but because of the angles involve, the curvature on the blade would have to be fucking ridiculous to the point of being useless as a weapon
you can see the weapon has a long handle to reach up there, then the blade has a curve and it continues past where the vision is blocked by the throne compartment
eh what is this thing u guys talking about? there is a pic about it?
the throne thing
eh its zenos throne no?
Okay, so, if you look at the angles involved there
Sumo wrestler
One of two things is going on
not Necromancer.
wouldnt necro be a mage anyway
Yeah necro would be a mage
whats with zenos and the new class?
the fact that its on maiming pretty much rules that out
zenos is heavily hinted to be the new class
People assume, with nothing other than "he did it last time" and "he broke his katana" that Zenos will be the new job
ah i see, first time i hear about it
No, Zenos is hinted towards the scythe. And that's where our speculation comes from.
I see nothing in that picture that is evidence of a scythe
and i will maintain that stance even if it turns out to be a scythe
Not to mention that maiming gear for a scythe user fits Zenos well. Since he always used heavier armor, too. And maiming gear is just tank armor with different stats
Counterpoint - Zenos in all recent art / expansion art is shown wearing lightweight gear, not heavy armor.
it looks like a normal throne...
lol i was thinking perhaps zenos going to be class that sit on throne and pew pew everything from the throne but thats way too dumb
like... can u touch me boi? feel the power boi, pew pew prw
Yeah like
In the trailer he has some light armor on his hand/wrist, and everything else visible is cloth/leather looking
Doesnt really scream "armor a DRG would wear"
He can still change outfits. But yes, a weak point

Well it's not like Striking gear is a perfect match for SAM and MNK
Yeah but when a class has been sharing the Fending model for the past forever, generally you'd expect it to look more like his SB outfit if that was going to be a relevant point.
honestly, i think his new outfit is important just for the fact they specifically mentioned how he had a change of wardrobe and we'll be seeing that on the digital fanfest
As far as the throne goes, i think the problem is that because of the structure of the throne and angles involved - either the blade on that thing is pretty short, or curved to a ridiculous degree. Most of the "scythe believer" screenshots use one from further away.
The French final fantasy XIV page on facebook has just published something a little strange. When we translate, it gives:
The world of #FFXIV is on the verge of the apocalypse. Do you think you can stand up as one man, and accept half of your sacrifice?
We're going to release the Z-boi because only him can stop what Fandaniel will do
Wait, is that referring to Ardbert?
Okay, standby while i do some MSPAINT-tier editing of this. This is just before the relevant section of the throne pans out of view (rather than most of the screencaps that are taken much earlier)
I don't know, they just posted this with a picture of our favorite Derplander
i can't post mine but the blade would be either tiny, curved inward or is a retractable weapon
and i take back what i said about the handle, it's proportionate enough for someone to hold it
feel free to judge it tho, i can't draw holding the pen at the end
nah
Okay so im basically at a similar result with my, again, mspaint-tier edit
honestly, could be anything
Mistral dealing hope like a boss
If the visible lines continue at their current angles, you end up here (red circled area is a gap in the throne, just flagging that area as somewhere a blade cant curve through because you'd see it)
To me, proportionally, that looks more like a pickaxe than a scythe
in terms of blade length to handle length (assuming how long the handle would be from tis angle and Zenos sitting)
and if you try to curve it any further than that, you run into teh problem of it being impractical as a weapon as well as the gap in the throne.
So im really not sold on scythe at all
i'm just not setting myself up for disappointment. it happened with not seeing chemist though what he got was just as good. i just don't want to hope for the melee dps
and it really could be anything at this point
I’m somewhat sold on the idea of a scythe but the Zenos aspect of it kinda loses me
Yeah like, t-shirt speculation is fine
But claiming that the trailer is hard evidence that zenos is a scythe user is a gigantic stretch
New class be Minecrafter
Miner zenos
Zenos retires and becomes a DoL
and the only way for that blade to be longer is for it to basically be a useless weapon
You'll see him working on his on the sanctuary island
🤔
Who is his partner in the mochi pounding process?
maybe he's waiting for his friend who recently returned from another world
That certainly the handle end of the scythe (like a sword pommel I think?) , so the blade part is hidden by the chair
on his farm, just woke up
Are you implying that the visible part is the bottom of the shaft, and that the entire blade is obscured in the center of the picture? If so, sure, that's possible - but that also means that absolutely nothing in the picture actually indicates a scythe.
Zenos miner class?
which means it could be anything

Yes this is just assuming it's a scythe, since we got the reaper shirt hint
another zoooom
But it could be anything
If that's the business end its at best pickaxe proportions.
if thats a counterweight/pommel then it could be any weapon whatsoever and we have nothing
Hence, why i'm anti scythe hype for now
also, while zoomed, there's no blade visible there. notice the yellow light at the bottom that showed through the hole on the side of the throne
Right. That's why i indicated it in my picture.
there's a section where a blade cant be
I also just think it’s super weird to imagine Zenos without a katana
OH
which means its most likely a straight line rather than an aggressive curve
i didn't see you mark it
he's gonna be a minecraft gamer
and if you look at those propotions, the length of the blade in my scenario would like
Zenos is getting the eye of the spider
if it's gonna be a scythe, it has one thin af blade
Well scythes are bad weapons so
He’s handicapping himself /s
It's a teaser trailer, they can hide details
Yes, ive said that several times
I think Scythe is also stupid because its a dumb weapon
lol
I mean what if the slashes from it are magical.
I'm going to draw it
You say that but what happens when your sanctuary island gets attacked while you’re harvesting crops?
Anything a scythe can do, a DRG spear can do better.
do it. just be mindful of the throne design
there's a hole on the side of the throne
I'll grab a pitchfork because it'll be more effective than a scythe

So like, I’m sure I just missed the discussion, but if that’s not some sort of bootleg scythe or whatever that Zenos has, then what even is it?
Don't know
No clue
We'll see
I just dont think its a scythe based on available evidence
New Miner skysteel tool
that's the handle with a pommel imo
One hand axe and a shield
Right if its a pommel that we're seeing rather than a blade
then it can literally be any two handed weapon
Or two one hand axe
well, someone in reddit saw it really but it does make sense
and to be clear, it can absolutely still be a scythe if that's a counterweight/pommel
and im not saying it absolutely isnt one or anything
just that there's no real evidence that it is
Maybe the weapon is pointed inward? idk
The best type of speculation is pure speculation
Too DRG-like
what even is that thing
I’d be kinda disappointed if Zenos gave up katanas for a scythe as that katana revolver thing he has/had is unironically dope
His golf bag?
Hasn’t had his golf bag since sb
ngl that weapon looks really lame

On the golf course
Hmm
wait no, it was still after that, isn't it?
He still has it when we fight him in Ala Mhigo im pretty sure
so he lost it when he died, i believe
Ghimlyt
elidibus has it during the cinematic
this is what i mean
so he left it there maybe
Elidibus tossed it away
Zenos with the full auto hammer confirmed?
Nice sketch Noct
Yeah Noct, and that's feasible for sure - just that if the blade is being hidden there, that means it can be nearly any type of two handed weapon, rather than definitely a scythe
yeah @heady spear , it looks like it's pointed inward
He's got a shovel to dig our graves, damn that's cold
shovel knight job confirmed
yes, while i want it to be scythe, it's still not confirmed
thats why i said it could be anything
i know it's possible, but the hobby writer in me cringes at having the scythe blade set on the ground
What if you started Endwalker and all you see is STEEL THY SHOVEL
lol
what do you expect from a guy who step on his katana
Zeno is gonna burry us?? didn't know he was Tripple H
also, i would be laughing my ass off if it's some deadly variation of the mochi-pounding mallet
ahaha it was a hammer, but now that i look at it it do kinda looks like a shovel
lol, or maybe a limited job grave digger
A new limited job would be wild since square enix lives in fear of BLU becoming too powerful
maybe it's a shovel related to the new farmer minigame
BLU be like "I'm going to casually double the DPS of your opener on your 510 level 80 DPS job"
SE trying to capitalize off that animal crossing hype
i really like the idea of it. not having a house, that's one thing i just wanted them to let us have in apartments
BLU is so damn fun
I've been trying to get it just right
but i think BLU can now kill Nael before meteor phase transition
Can I tho? I gotta like still unlock Eden raids and nier ones too, as well as catch up with relic
Whatever Zenos is
He'll be the Melee DPS
He's not going to try casting, he likes physical confrontation
I still think thats a pretty big presumption.
He'll be melee, but i think its a big jump to say he'll be "the new melee"
Given the understanding I have of Zenos, he'll be melee, I think he'll be the melee but it always is possible he wont be
My point was though that he'll never be a caster
Or like ranged
Just like WoL
He should be incapable of being a caster in the traditional sense anyway, even with his hacked echo powers
Still a Garlean
He should be able to cast magic
cauterizing wounds is a form of healing
Killing people who are trying to kill your friends is a form of healing.
Don’t need to heal if you kill them before they can do damage
Alphinaud spots a Garlean about to take a swing at Alisaie and guns them down with flying guns of doom. Camera pans. "I specialize in..." adjusts sunglasses "Preventative Medicine"
explosions ensue
Gunbreaker intensifies
Well, tank
Instead of healing
More like WAR
with Flash/Glint
"How do I heal my friends? Literally by killing my enemies."
Killing is just healing with fewer steps
Honestly ||I think Estinien is going to bite the bullet in this Expac||
That seems nearly-100% confirmed to be false
Since, you know
He's going to be a Tust
*trust
||True, but here's what hits me, the first Dragoon debuted in 2 and died in 2||

Honestly it's just me being a crackhead theorycrafter. I just wanted to throw this out so i can get it out of my system
Can we kill off yshtola already
People will never see it coming cuz shed always bs her way out of it
Players would absolutely riot if they gave you the option to grind his Trust EXP up to 90 and then immediately killed him.
So yeah
Not gonna happen
I mean Fighting Games still have canonically dead characters in their rosters
It's like saying if you finish Xrd's story Bedman would be removed but nope still playable same with Jack O
we've thought yshtola's been dead or gone like 3 times now
Same with Thancred
That's not really the same
I'll take your loldrg and raise a star ocean ||where on the moon hydaelyn and zodiark esplode each other and destroy the source along with the both of them but the WoL resurrects it with the power of friendship and conveniently placed computer to make it a simulation so nobody thinks anything happened||
Y'shtola basically is only alive because plot armor
PFFt i would rage if that were the case
We've been in the grid nononono IT'S LITERALLY THE DQ YOUR STORY ENDING
(I'm referring directly to star ocean 2 btw)
I want them to kill off all the scions
you mean how she survived the end of ARR betrayal? or is there another reason she should have died
Spoilers.
i wonder how much FFX content/references Endwalker will have
im hopeful that we will get some more along with Anima
Magus Sisters could be a mix of an FF4 Reference and an FF10 reference
I think people are saying the FFXIV iteration is more inspired by the FFIV version
of magus sisters
Hello guys, after a few days Yoshi P. finally spoke to me in m dreams again.
This time, he told me to tell everyone to stop talking about scythes for some reason.
Is it sickles
Possibly.
they do look a lot more like their FF4 design
but the kind-of-insectoid faces could be alluding to their 10 design
maybe it's a rake and and new duty of land job
I still need to finish Bismarck extreme
and Zhu Baije will be the Job Mentor
Maybe the new job is archaeologist and that's why the skeleton
I'd dig an archaeologist job
Maybe it's a play on the necromancer where they resurrect ancient dinosaurs
Dinomancer
There you go
It will be called decepticon
You see the filth and the Fury
The filth is because you're digging in the dirt for bones
And the fury is the player base is collective anger for it being a gathering job rather than a fighting job
So now that I can confirm keyboard and mouse will work on my PlayStation 4 I just need to get a proper setup. Like a desk or something
The first two don't make any sense
Because according to yoshi-p isn't heavensward actually supposed to resemble a clear blue sky?
God I will never get used to seeing ground Reflections on this game
I mean, I guess I get what you mean, but when you think of dragons, I would think the first couple things that people think (aside from fire) is like wind and cyclones tornadoes etc.
When I think of dragons I think of treasure because they're usually guarding a hoard
Well.... Lol
People think differently I suppose. It made sense to me, aside from the first which I agree is a little random.
I know this theory isn't new, but I haven't see people talk about the bit I circled here. Can anyone else re-watch the trailer and tell me if the bit I circled in red looks like the tip of a Scythe to you?
So that would mean the Scythe is laying blade down, and the bit everyone was talking about is actually the pommel/counterweight.
It might be hard to see, but following the motion of the camera pan you can definitely see the bit sticking out in the red circle isn't part of the chair/floor.
SCYYYYYYYYYYYYTHE
People are so determined to convince others. I say we just wait till the reveal because the more and more people try to convince others that their answer is correct the more it's going to sting if it turns out to be incorrect
That's why I'm just having fun with it creating random theories
"Blue Skies of Ishgard" was the HW title byline because of the pattern of theme colour + scenario theme that was never pushed in the english promo materials (in the case of hw, sea of clouds, sky pirates, azys lla end zone etc)
I remember seeing in his description of each title that the literal translation was a "cold blue sky" correct?
On that little PowerPoint presentation they had
Souten No Ishgard (蒼天のイシュガルド) I suppose could be that
A Realm Reborn with something like sunrise. Stormblood was Crimson Twilight and shadowbringers was the black of night
And and Walker supposed to be a new dawn
yeah (and endwalker is new dawn)
HW: Winter
SB: Spring
SHB: Summer
EW: Autumn
I wonder if Xavier Woods ever watches the live letters or the showcases
Because if he does he probably laugh at the "New Dawn" bit
That's very convincing but just because zenos uses the weapon does not necessarily mean we will too
If that's the case then it is comeing out of the blue
I wonder when they'll give the warrior of light a fine full dignified beard. One that commands respect and projects thoughtfulness and dignity.
And when he strokes The Beard thusly... he shall appear more intellectual
So everybody should know
Do not pair gun breaker with sage
Guys I figured it out
6.1 Garlean Restoration
Spread eagle to be comfy
So when's the expansion to save the 13th?
It's gonna happen, and you can count on Yayayo being there for it because if the void is involved, she's in 100%
:D
Also do you think there are grapes in the void?
ofc
Void Grapes
ffxiv endwalker: sage
grows into a tree
that then never shuts up about the void
I've recently been playing FF5 as well as Dissidia, and it's hilarious hearing Exdeath talk so much about the Void. Hurricane Sandy's just around the corner and while I wait for my house to get blown down, I'll upload this video.
I'll be showing off a good amount of Exdeaths Voice Clips regarding the Void/Rift. Enjoy, and also; Embrace the stil...
wtf is that
like, what is this voice acting
it feels like symphony of the night tier
lol
have at you!
is there a chance Zenos wields....two scythes?
there is a hilt connected to the blade on the upper side of the throne and then there is a blade on the lower side too
There's a chance he weilds literally anything
I mean sure, even if it's not a scythe for some reason, I'm quite baffled as to what it could be
I think they kept it hidden on purpose
I don't think a scythe is zenos' thing though, it's kind of a slow weapon and it doesn't have any cool flashy moves
Also, just gonna throw this side-thought out there on that
A scythe is, if you ignore how actually dumb it is as a weapon
In fantasy-settings generally good at AoE-type things
Not exactly what i'd expect a man to pick as a weapon whose focus is fighting exactly one person
A lot of weapons used in fantasy are dumb
I want to see somebody in real life try to carry a massive sword like the shit Dark Knight uses
They'll just be flailing around like a moron
There's a difference between unrealistic and unuseful
If you were strong enough to carry a DRK sword, it would be very effective
No amount of "i'm strong" makes a scythe not a dumb weapon type
It's quite unrealistic to weild the sort of that size. It's not practical
I mean, the claymore is basically just a big metal stick
there's no reason to sharpen it as finely as, say, a colichemarde
being hit with a 2 meter long metal stick is good enough to kill you
Try not to hit yourself in the process
Seems pretty easy to avoid, tbh
Nxt class is just gonna be us hitting em with the blunt of our guns
It depends on the size of the blade as well as the weight if you tried to use anything similar to what a dark knight uses in this game you're going to have a very bad time
zenos seems like the kind of person who would just try to go full bear hands and rip your soul out with some kind of stupid magic juju
But honestly to complain about impractical unrealistic an unconventional Weaponry in a fantasy world where that stuff is commonplace is pointless so stop bitching about scythes being used as weapons. In this game you can stand up to giant magical monsters summoned with prayer and energy wearing nothing but a bikini
!itemglam Lost Allagan Claymore
I'm bitching about it because it doesnt make any sense to me
@kind lark here's a fancy one
Neither does standing up to 10 story tall monsters wearing nothing but a fucking bikini
it's just not a weapon style that would make sense for zenos to use
In fairness, that's an illusion.
when has zenos ever been about big sweeping movements
You're not actually doing that
instead of just chopping your face off
It's all an illusion it's a fantasy video game
!iglam Dreadwyrm Claymore
You're trying to use real-world logic as an argument for a video game you already lose
Another one
That's nonsense.
Looks cool, I could've sworn that I saw someone with the classic claymore with the circles
It's perfectly reasonable to talk about how a weapon would physically function
Oh let me track down a normal one
And yet it's been seen time and again
I have a soft spot for large swords.
"its magic, I aint gotta explain SH---"
!iglam Mythril Claymore
You act like this is the first time a scythe has been used as a weapon.
Is this what you want?
Guts' dragonslayer will always be cool
as far as I know, zenos is already the new maiming gear job in the trailer, but it doesn't seem like the kind of weapon zenos would use in his EPIC DUEL with the WOL
Oh yeah that's the one
scythes are impractical weapons, but ultimately the issue is that zenos' characterization doesn't really work with a scythe
And even if you buy into the fantasy bullshit aspect.
Its just not really a particularly sensible choice - both from a "in-game why would you use this if you literally only care about fighting one person" and also from a "how do you possibly make a WoL vs. Zenos cutscene work" perspective

Easy
We lose a 24 man and they spend those t and resources crafting a WoL vs Zenos cutscene for every combination of race, sex and job
Eh, given the 24 mans that we've gotten so far, a bit of a crap shoot as to if anything of value would be lost.
People would be pretty upset about that
Oh not that, was commenting on what Lance said
Return to Ivalice was good. CT was eh. Mhach was.....not great.
Mhach was somewhat interesting only because of Diabolos. Was neat to run into him again after the encounter within Ampdapor city
Any idea what new pally skill we will get?
No
I hope we get divine shield
.....

Can take shot in the dark guessing but wont mean much until media tour and job trailer
Assuming pld 90 sticks with physical and magic combos for its rotation can reasonably expect both to be upgraded and a physical finisher to take the role of confetti
I know change riot blade to blade of justice

It was super hypothetical

"Wanna fly on the backs of whales? How about a trip to the MOOOOOOOON?!?!"
My prediction for the end of Endwalker......the WOL is out of work so he and Zenos open up a cake shop on the moon ❤️
@barren karma the real final boss is sakaguchi himself
His ultimate goal is to finally destroy Final Fantasy
@cinder badger Mwhahaha yes! And we finally get Trust (non cannon) NPC weddings. 😉
This video is hilarious though
FFV: "The main characters name is BUTZ!"
BRILLIANT!!!
Final Fantasy 7
The world is dead.
Humanity lives under a giant pizza in the sky.
No magic. NO. They have rocks.
And everyone's mean. Except for this one.... will just make her a girl. And then we'll murder the girl.
We'll just murder the girl....
I wish monk new skill allow us to surplex mobs
Honestly I don't think sakaguchi would have gone along with this joke if there wasn't some sort of truth to it
Because I want to surplex a train
I don't think monk needs new skills until they figure out what to do with old ones
Is there another tier of gear coming or just the Bozja set ?
Like what was their reason for taking grease lightning out and just making it a passive
Especially because it gave fists of wind a purpose Beyond moving faster
Job action showcase.
Everybody sees that fourth greased lightning stack and cheers.
Four patches later and they just remove it entirely.... what?
Makes mnk a lot more playable to not have to MUH STACKS
Tk and 6side star were kinda crappy feeling also before the intern changes
Which I agree does make it easier to play a monk but they went One Direction and then the complete opposite direction in the course of one expansion
And now it's the wind it's kind of back to being a useless action in my opinion
Like extra move speed... yay?
That and really needing better identity since gl was a relic of pugalist while monk job quests were all the chimichangas
Fists of Earth is really used mostly for solo.... and fists of fire is the go-to stance. I really think they just need to remove the fist stances from Monk
And there wasnt really a logical explanation why keep so much pug mechanics over into monk
Greased lightning still exist though
It's just now passive
You get the full benefit of grease lightning instead of stacking it
There was next to no good reason for the stacks to exist though
That would make sense along with a way to remove positionals for casual play (and reward players who did do them) but se has always been opaque when it comes to what the intended way to play is outside the really awful guide that was released in japan only
And I feel like there's next to no good reason to have fists of earth wind and fire. They've tried different ways to add Unique Mechanics to each one and none of them stuck
Intended way to play MNK :
- Unequip Soul of the Monk
- Equip a different weapon type
Going back to 1.0 and the original design for pugilist. They were supposed to exclusively rely on positionals as each positional provided Buffs and debuffs to themselves or their targets. But then somewhere down the road they just decided to make melee DPS in general positional based
Pugilist was supposed to be kind of a mix between Final Fantasy XI Monk and Thief jobs
Which I'm glad didn't stick because that would have been awkward and clunky
When I was a wee lad back in HW and leveling Pug for the first time, my only melee at the time, I thought it was very interesting. Bouncing and juking around enemy attacks like a real fighter would. Trying to predict the next move and get into position for it. Felt much better then WoW Monk imo
Though some of the ideas from the original design did sound neat and I'm kind of sad they didn't stick.
Like Lancer having an extended range or Archer being able to use different Arrow types for different situations
So
My best guess on the new mDPS
will be a scythe wielding Beastmaster
With maiming gear
Cause that's the only job I can think Zenos would change to

How provocatively unique of a prediction.
Shhhh don't use the word Scythe in front of@unique verge
Dont forget to pick up your membership card on the way past.
The only other jobs taht used that weapon were DRK, WAR, and BLM back in FXI
All the other jobs are in FFXIV and we got specific weapon locks
Also it isn't going to be Beastmaster
Give us Lyon as mentor
They struggle enough with balancing pet jobs like Summoner and Scholar
And not about to throw in a third
Why on earth would Zenos “kill my target and you die” be a Beastmaster????
Cause he'll see the beasts of the Final Days as anotehr weapon
Dispose of them if they're useless
No, he wants to kill us with his own hands
What about Judge? Just lean into a "Judge of life and death" and give him the Scythe. He judges everyone unworthy. Mix up some reaper/necro powers along with the edicts. Zenos already loves dropping Edicts on people "Touch the WoL an die" type deals. He did it a lot in StB
Yeah he doesn't want somebody to do the dirty work for him he wants to do it himself
And I can see the pet balancing argument being a valid reason, but like Rakarrak said- he's not the type to let another do his work
THis job might be closer to Ran'jit actually
The reaper shirt Yoshi had was a red herring half way
It’s just Reaper.
Both shirts lead to Reaper
Spoilers, it's actually Skeleton. You get bone and calcium based powers.
Okay guys let's stop we're upsetting him
Reaper would absolutely fit Zenos!!
... Oh fuck really
Grim Reaper gimmick?
REALLY SQUARE XD
I like how everyone keeps on calling the job Reaper as if this is a pre-existing job with a defined set of actions
Well slightly correction: it’s basically going to be reaper, they might give it some odd alternative name though
Well, it could be a XIV original job like how they're repackaging Sage
Ran'jit comes back to life in 6.0
Or Astrologian
Ranjit is dead and he will remain dead
He better
I did see Corsair as a suggestion with some backing evidence. Just obtuse enough to be a Yoshi Shirt hint
Corsair?
Corsair still makes no sense for Maiming though.
Maiming=Heavy/Medium armor right?
Remember, Astrologian wasn’t a thing at all prior to Heavensward, then Bravely Default 2 had it as a job after HW’s release
No. maiming is just DRG’s armor they never bothered to get rid of from 1.0
Something like, the one shirt relates to Sex PISTOLS and the other shirt a band with Hex in the name. Like the Hexgun they use. Something like that
@half phoenix it was a thing it just wasn't called astrologian
What was it then?
And the full name?
Astrologian
It was one of the unit job types in FFTactics
Oh god someone's comment on a FFXIV video
Could have sworn they said it was a 14 original. Meh whatever
"The Astrologian is thematically similar to the Time Mage job."
"I mean, a scythe and a flail are the natural counterpicks to a sword and shield"
Bruh did those sticks ever have a flail?
They’re focusing on flails because “templar” >_>
Like guys, we already have templars
Templars = Temple Knights = Paladins
@half phoenix I didn't know Paladin's could apply zombification
Basically knights with clubs/morning stars
Thematically Templar and Paladin is the same job in terms of real world inspiration
Okay but previous games still had Knights and Templars as two separate jobs
We're not talking about the Real World we are talking about Final Fantasy
What would wol be crusading for? virtual pope?
e girls
They mostly just needed a bunch of words for "Melee armor guy who hits the enemy mans"
Just if the person in the armor was more particle to swords or impact weapons, the latter taking less skill to immobilize opponents, while the former you needed to get through the openings in armor joints
And in previous Final Fantasy games Templars were not like paladins do they could use Magic and we all Heavy Armor the types of magic they used were different
Templars could actually use the zombie spell
And zombify targets
They were more like debuffers
Yes, let’s just zombify bosses >_>
Zombify them and you would use healing spells to damage them'
That wasn't my point. The point is Templars are not like Paladin
The Templar job is a physical class can also use status-inflicting spells. Among playable characters, it is exclusive to Beowulf Cadmus.
In the War of the Lions port, Aliste Rosenheim is also a Templar.
If reaper is a thing it will have similar themes to blm. being misunderstood
Paladins were not known for inflicting status effects. They were known for using white magic for healing and raising while still technically being a knight
I do wonder what the 2nd job will be
Something Reaper
I have a strong feeling it will be Reaper or something along those lines
Zenos has a scythe, he’s watching death and destruction around him
I wonder if it'll be tank or dps o.o
And tehre's the real DPS Healer XD
Melee DPS....
Confirmed mDPS already XD
FInally giving the people what they want
They literally said its role in the showcase
(was hoping for new caster)
ohhh well yay mele dps!
Yea, we needed a new caster instead
The more I read about the Templar from previous games the more I can actually see it being a thing. Because Templar is similar to The Mystic Knight or the runic fencer
Remember as you're arguing what attributes jobs must have based on what they do in other games that SAM is a DPS and DRK is a tank in XIV
"Templar, also known as Temple Knight, is a special job from Final Fantasy Tactics. It is Beowulf's default job, and is a mix of physical and magickal classes, using a sword to cast offensive magick. It is an extraordinarily powerful Mystic who needs a sword to access the abilities that target one unit instead of having area of effect, but with the benefit of not having a charge time and with a higher hit rate."
Then 7.0 would have 1 class, a ranged DPS, then no more. All roles would have 4 classes
I doubt it
I wish it would add a HD texture pack for PC -_- one can dream......
They would also have to add another ranged physical for that to happen
DX12 is still having problems for some people in other games
I think 7.0 might be the first expansion without any new jobs
We also need a class that shares gear with ninja at some point
Nah
Itll probably go No Job Expac > Job Expac > no Job expac, etc
Nah, its probably gonna be 1 new job per expac
Again, just REMOVE maiming and scouting
Easier to remove a piece of gear than an entire set
well I mean if we save everyone after Endwalker....the next job might be Barista 😉
Keep in mind that even the developers said that they could make an expansion and not release any new jobs
A new expansion doesn't have to mean new jobs
Stat spreads are the same, and there literally no difference between scouting and aiming, they even have the same armor values, because realistically the only attacks that should be hitting a dps, are stacks, single targets like Earthbreakers, and raid-wides
They'll remove bard because they can't figure out how to balance the songs
I dont know why we just cant go back to 4.x bard, cuz that seemed great
They basically did remove bard for about 2 weeks during 5.0
If they would, they’d fix SMN/SCH by now
I don't know why Bard couldn't have been Ranger
I hope White mage gets Great Gospel as a new ability. Coolest Final Fantasy spell not in the game yet
Because Bard is more iconic?
4.x was only good near the end of a tier though, when your relative crits were getting super high. Until then it was awful to play
And once it felt good, it was way better then it had any right to be
i kinda hope they drop egis their ai is really crappy
Egis need a rework
Tbh, if we dont get a new summon but instead summon demi Ifrit/garuda/titan I'd be ok with that
I think he means Rangers have more to do with Archers and Bard could have been an expansion class
Leveling up the egis though I can get behind
I feel like the Egi's should get stronger as you level, but they dont feel like they do
So is Ranger?
So I had an idea about the egis which might make things worse but idk\
Ranger has been on 3, 5, and 11
It can't be worse than they already are
Yes but Bard was in 1.0 where they probably were just thinking “how the hell to do we fix this mess” as the sub numbers constantly dropped
So what if instead of just choosing between Ifrit and Garuda, what if you had the 3 out at the same time
And they would function more like an extension of your weapon
I could see that being a capstone skill
If they add Ranger at some point he should get crossbows instead of bows. Can't change what is done
Until yoshi-p was put in charge there were no jobs only classes
No. You want more nonsense to micro in fights?
He could have made Ranger instead of bard
And again, bard is more iconic
honestly this would even be okay if they redid some of the animations so that summon pops out for like 3s and you do the coresponding summon attack.
I mean 1.0 was crap so glad Yoshi p was put in charge
How is Bard iconic?
Yeah, the delay on Egi's is really bothering
Bards have been a fantasy staple before Tolkien was in his mom's womb
Bard is sort of a staple in fantasy for a while now
Look at most other fantasy stories
You can't press aetherpact too quickly or else it wont go off
What with DnD and such
Hope Bard gets a bane like skill in 6.0
It needs one
Nah
It should be a really insulting shout
You could go all the way back to The Knights of The Round Table and find bards. That's how iconic they are to fantasy
"Ranger" is mostly a DnD construction based off a single character in LOTR that the original DnD creators thought was cool and wanted to make as a character. Like having a sephiroth class. All the stuff westerners generally associate with "Ranger" fall under either a generic hunter, archer, or "Elf"
this does happen alot gets really bad when you are waiting for this as you are about to summon phoneix
Having to apply your dot on 20+ enemies individually in a pull is insane
But in most of those stories Bards aren't archers. Archers tend to be hunters or Rangers
Just a couple multi-target dot attacks
If you look at western themed JRPGs you're more likely to find an "Elf" class then a "ranger" class
Which can be another Staple in the fantasy world
And even then in DnD Rangers are sort of a weird mix of druid, fighter and some stuff from rouge
I usually go with EGI 1- Wyrmwave. EGI 2- Aetherpact. EGI 3- Enkindle. Egi 4- End dreadwyrm and go into Bahamut with immediate casting of enkindle bahamut while casting ruin 3 following up with ruin 4. Fill in teh GCD in between
On that I agree but it's not like they can change it now
JUST give you the elbow room to squeeze out the 2 charges of Enkindle Bahamut
Crossbows aren't used yet though so ranger could come in some capacity
Though I think we can all agree that Bahamut and probably Phoenix wont be going away at all
GIVE ME MY VALLA ROLEPLAY
They kind of are used
But the problem with aetherpact is that if you do it too quickly and summon bahamut/phoenix the buff doesn't apply
Ranged lb1 and lb2
The concept that a bow is no different from a harp because both use strings is retarded
As a main hand equippable weapon
Hence why you weave it within the first 5 seconds while getting ruin charges
Demi's are an amazing idea for how the summons should be tbh
Single crossbow then akimbo
I think I heard somewhere that in 2.0 they didn't want to do Demis because they would be too big and yet here we are
When are we gonna be able to change the size of Phoenix
@gaunt star never
Lousoix is too thicc
Also I have to ask how do you change the size of bahamut?
"Yeah well you're ugly."@gaunt star
Go into trusts as a smn and flex on Allisae and Alphi by summoning their grandpa
Yeah well your dead, so hurry up and use Revelation
"Hey kids I hear ya got a dead grandpa so chech this out"
Bahamutsize or demisize or something like that
/Bahamutsize small (or medium or large)
thx man
But it only affects you, not everyone else
It’s a command you use once then never again
So if you make Bahamut small he'll only be small for you while for everyone else he'll be thicc
lulw it ould be pretty funny
Still want diamond carbuncle size
I want Emerald carbuncle to be...EMERALD
I want obsidian carbuncle
I think seeing a carbuncle firing an Akh Morn would be pretty funny
(ruby carbuncle casts squeak) [explosion]
My biggest want for jobs of 6.0 would be to make the shield from Brutal shell more impactful, because I never notice it or make it more interesting
/bahamutsize calamity
Bring back SAM's old sounds so they can destroy our eardrums once again
Bring back gun Breakers old sounds
I actually never knew they were changed until a few weeks ago
My main want: rdm aoe mana build being tied to the number of enemies hit >_>
I want a dual wield for MCH even if it's just one attack with that animation
Hey off topic question I'm about to go grab a quick snack what should I get
Pizza!
@barren karma dual wield gun users going to be pirate themed with pistols and Merlwyb as mentor
@cinder badger That would be cool!
Dont forget that people will be able to buy the amaro mount in 6.0
It's stupid how the really awesome pirate who called you a scrag in 1.0 has been reduced to a side mentor in The Machinist storyline
Ehhh I still have much love for Stephanivien I'd hate to see him sidelined
But I mean that pirate was supposed to be a big part of the limsa lominsa storyline
Apparently the way he held his gun was his calling card and when you're seen holding out a pistol in the same way it freaked people out
Musketeer was supposed to be the gun job/class in the game but it never saw the light of day
Then we got Machinist and honestly it was a bit of a disappointment because it wasn't gun exclusive like musketeer would have been
so was shepard
I mean Machinist kinda felt like a gunner in 4.x, then in 5.0 they reworked it to be more Machinist like
And by that I mean that it felt there were more focus on the gun than anything else
Yeah but you also had things like flamethrower
I dunno man MCH has flame thrower.....heheh I just love the class so much hehe
Musketeer would have been more limsa themed and less tech involved.
oh hahah hi5 Yayayo
We're getting shepard tho
Shepherd?
I also love the story of MCH....about the class struggles in Ishgard and the stubborn but hopeful Stephanivien
Will I get to stop the Reapers?
No, you get to play harvest moon
Dont even joke about that
That would be an ominous omen for the quality of FF14's story going forward
What will my romance options be?
I didnt catch the announcement on that...do we all get the minion farm or is it like houses....will we have to fight over the limited space?
Nothing has been specified
Oblivion references becoming the reaper, Shiva unreal+savage hint toward new job I'm being sarcastic but I'm sure someone will argue this unironically at some point
Didn't anybody stop to question how Ryne was able to call upon an exact duplicate of Hrasvelgr?
Especially having not ever seen him before
Hraesvelgr is only in savage which is a corrupted dive into our own memories, so we made that part up
So we can remember exactly what Hrasvelgr looks like. But then when it comes to something as simple as Titan we recall something out of Mario Kart?
Nope, because she can't.
Eden, however, in its fanfiction... well, Mitron has a little more information than Ryne does.
