The main thing for FFXIV armor compared to WoW is that FFXIV armor has actual modeling to worry about.

The key thing here is that this is a set from literally 20 years ago, where the only armor pieces that had distinct geometry were the helm, the shoulders, and the gloves. In this case, the chest covers the legs, the belt is an added texture on top of the chest, and the legs are just invisible until you get to the feet. And yeah, the BOOTS had unique geometry, but you wouldn't see them if you had the chest on. If you didn't have the chestpiece but had the legs, you'd have a funky texture on separate legs (unless you had a different chestpiece that overflowed onto the legs again). And as you can see, it's just flat textures on everything even if the art gives the IMPRESSION of multiple materials and layers.

In the 20 years since, Team 2 has made improvements to giving geometry to more of the set pieces and adding other things to make the set pop, but the textures just don't have the same fidelity to actual materials and layers that 14's armor does.

you can't. that's why crafting materia is so expensive, it's harder/more expensive to get. But if you have cowries on island sanctuary you can get them there

Island is just a free materia printing machine, I kinda expect prices won't go quite as high this time around because of it

i played paladin since half way through ARR (swaped to it when i saw there was a sword and board i didnt notice at first) and i gotta say, i always wanted paladin to be heavier on the magic

Then you have naked guy with an axe and a 20% hp bump and literally the blackest night beating you out in pure mitigation

When you have a SHIELD

It doesn't feel good

Based on the ilvl of your shield/difficulty of the encounter

20% block mit is only if you're not synced down and you have the best shield possible

Most of the time you'll get synced to 19% block mit
