XIV is imo at its best when it focuses on new things each expansion and does it well. I liked a lot about Shadowbringers that they focused mostly on characters and they did it very well. And in terms of Endwalker I feel the exact opposite. It doesn't really focus on very strong character writing in terms of villains but does an insane job regarding the writing of themes.
I realized this even more after I finished XC3 because XC3 had similar storybeats but Endwalker did them 10k times better.
