Oh I mean like straight up works, like they have less glamours they can apply. There's also that in comparison to war, magic casters
generally have gotten pretty ||shafted|| when it comes to glamours with PvP and so on. Like there's a lot of magical casters, but they all share either the caster or healing gear y'kno? Don't get me wrong, in the earlier seasons they were better off than now- but since FF14 PvP isnt a huge thing the glamour from there has for sure gotten de-prioritized

That's not really the heart of the issue tho, I feel personally. It's moreso that when new classes are introduced into the game they have a pretty limited amount of glamour to use in comparison to earlier classes. Square Enix have definitely gone out of their way to a certain extent to deal with that by creating - at the very least - weapons for each boss for the new classes.

The point to why it could be nice to introduce another armor type is for the sake of creating more diversity and class identity between disciples of magic. There are a lot of different casters with different class identities, but unlike disciples of war that have 3 (or was it 4 even?) different types of armors- they share 2.

Glamour for free trial can be challenging and fulfilling. You can get a lot of nice pieces from dungeons and also through crafting later on

Depending on the expansion, you can buy 'replica' versions of the previous steps after you've done a few steps more (I think the Anima relics, for Heavensward are two stages?)
Those replicas can then be put in your dresser. A real relic weapon cannot be placed in the dresser.
