stupid question from a new player, I like the idea of cosmetics being something else to grind towards, but I created a male character. Are the amount of cosmetics available for male vs female roughly the same? I worry that there is a lot more options for female characters. The only male ones I've seen have either been very metrosexual, or edgelord in nature

I would assume the question is because in some games, fem characters get an absolute crap ton more cosmetic variety compared to masc characters

Masc characters get 7 of the same shirt
While fem characters gets 7 vastly different shirts
Despite them being the same items

Buuuuut, ff14 don't work like that
If an item is female only, there's most likely a male counterpart that has similar, if not the same, styling

There's plenty of cosmetics to go around and like Cerberus said, 95% (if not more) of the gear can be worn by both male and female characters

I still don't get how they work though. Is it like transmogs you learn when you get an item? Like an axe drops and it has a particular look, and now that is added to your list of options? Or is a look dropped and it's not even on an item, almost like a recipe?

Say you have a piece of loot. it's lower level than your current gear. you can use glamour prisms to put it in your glamour dresser: in your glamour dresser, you can create a look that you can apply with a button in any major city over your base equipment, basically.

@last bison if you like the look of a piece of gear, then you can spend something called glamour prisms to put that gear into your glamour dresser. then from the dresser you can just copy paste the look of that axe on top of your current axe

Folks, I wanted some help. I'm a returning player after a good two years away or so. I have the mameshiba earrings, they're on my warrior glamour set. But I tried to put them on my conjurer glamour set and they're not appearing. There's a small red X on it. I thought it was because of my top or my facemask, but I tried removing both and the earrings didn't work still. ANyone has any idea what it might be?

Would anyone happen to have any recommendations for a headpiece glamour that somewhat (generously) resembles headphones, or ear muffs? I've seen the Empyrean Necklace & Scavenger Earpiece, both of which really capture the "earbuds/bluetooth" vibe, but I'd really like something ear muff/headphones adjacent, if something exists ;;

vieras are on the sexy/elegant side but honestly want for cuteness..(seriously, ive put a sweater or a hoodie on this race and it just doesnt seem right...maybe its cuz they're 2 meters tall, i dont know)
miqotes are nothing but cute, tail clipping is a concern
auras are either really angry or really dour, same tail clipping concern as before
