Typically if its like Seal Rock or Onsaii in terms of frontlines only they'll just sit on an objective and spam aoes so you cant capture it

Where as every other tank will run with their team and get Battle highs for days if their teams doing good

There are of course PLDs that play with their team but a lot I run into in frontlines just troll tank

We already schedule runs. It was like this since ARR tbh and the match quality was better because it was full of people that WANT to be there.

It’s a matter of; do you want quality or quantity?

Yeah you cant really do much about people who go there and die on purpose to make games go faster but if like someone doesn't meet a certain mini threshold they can get reported and receive like a warning or something but its a threshold that isn't publicized so they can just meet it then go afk but making that system would be insanely hard and wouldnt be worth it for how low a focus pvp is in this game

Like uh if someone has like 0 kills 2 deaths and no assists but has been in the game since it started then they get justice kicked from pvp

Cause thats someone who died twice then went afk. Someone whose dying on purpose would be like 0 15 0

Revival Wings is taking a break for the new patch. No scheduled runs for now. BUT you can / should queue for Feast if you're interested in Frontline and Rival Wings. It will show you all of the flaws you can improve on, something that large scale modes can't show you as easily.

i've gone 1-4-4 or so before. group dynamic, sometimes you're on a bad team, other times you're just taking camps while everyone else is left in mid fighting for minutes after the machines are dead.

Ye thats why itd be too hard cause youd have to make it strike based and reset every week

youd also have to incorporate objective stats

ultimately itd be way too hard to implement such a system but the fact still remains this games community has a real disdain for pvp players cause they like playing and winning in pvp

so i knew a few people that i stopped playing with cause theyd purposely die to feed battle highs so the games would end faster

all cause pvp players would use callout macros

Casters: Addle / Manaward - Drain
Physical ranged: Foot - leg graze / Conc / Recup /
Healers: Repose / Protect

Have your defensive spammable tank cooldown with macros and make one for each party member
Example:
/pvpac "Aurora" <2> /micon "Aurora" pvpaction

Have your enemy debuffs on macros. (Healers, this goes for your Repose too )
Example:
/pvpac "Addle" <e4> /micon "Addle" pvpaction

Have a purify macro to auto target yourself
Example:
/pvpac "Purify" <me> /micon "Purify" pvpaction

MELEE (Every role should have it too) have COUNTDOWNS as a macro. Make one per enemy role

There's a ranked feast season that just started yesterday. Frontlines are always active in the afternoons.

frontlines is more active due to being a more casual game mode but ranked feast is very active for the first few weeks of the season.

It's possible, otehrs have done it. But it depends on you, how quickly you learn and how much effort you put in.

If you have zero PvP experience here, and you generally don't PvP in other games, it's an uphill but doable thing

Not at all, I would 100% reccomend you try to firstly get to gold, otherwise unranked queue will die and then you will be out of luck.
If you join the pvp discord you can very easily make the floor, which is usually mid plat?

new player here, question about pvp .. i heard that warfront uses structured gear and i entered it with a low level warrior lvl 40 and i don't do any damage to anyone.

Level and gear don't matter in pvpv

Your stats are normalized by your role

Its more than likely that rather than you being low level its just your unfamiliarity with how the job plays

It's mainly because it gets little to no attention from the devs and is just conten that is given and left behind by the dev team

Big reason: current system is easy at the surface and (kinda) harder to master. Well, not hard, anyone that tries can be good at it, but this is the same style PvE has. How many times do you see people saying how easy the game is, then all they do is Roulettes? It’s the same with PvP

But with PvP the big difference is that the player won’t know why they “do no damage” but “get blown up instantly” so they get frustrated and move on.

For sure there are issues with PvP, but most of the time people say some really stupid things. Best advice is to dive in head first with PvP communities and make your own opinion

Unless you’re drg. Then you’re aoe ranged bursting with melee benefits

heavy medals was removed so no. without looking at you play:

• are you bursting into defensives / shields
• are you dying
• are you running
• are you not putting out dmg while kiting / running

• is your team doing bursts fast enough.

I rlly wanna get into ffxiv but i heard that pvp is not rlly a focus for devs

you dont have 2v2 or 3v3 duels and bgs

in the next expansion i heard that they wanna add some pvp features

Nothing other than a new mode and (probably) different battle system since there are two big changes expected.

• Players will be in charge of their own healing
• Healers will be split into two in PvE, pure healing and shield. No clue how that will translate to pvp.

That being said check the pins and join the PvP communities to get different perspectives.

Yes. You also need to queue during prime time for ranked. You're also unranked while the season has been going on for a long time. Most players are at gold+ or they realized feast isn't for them so they quit. You can thank the changes SE made to climbing early on when people thought it was too hard to climb.

Quick question about the frontline duty meter. I think the crystal at the end is for your level of battle high, but what does the number mean? I've had go up in the 20-30 range when I was pretty sure I didn't have that many assists that round.

You basically can’t beat a healer in 1v1 if they’re paying attention, assuming equal battle high. Maybe if you’re a DPS with high burst and know how to psych them out and manage to CC them while they’re not at full HP.

Does anyone have advice on pvp as a white mage? I like to go up against my warrior best friend in the wolves den to practice, but I'd like to actually be able to win against him one day. We've gone upwards of 40 minutes dueling without either of us going below even 50%, I simply don't do enough damage to kill him and heal too well to be killed.

PvP can be fun but it is not a major focus, it's very much side content. There is a small community of die-hards. PvP skills are different from regular skills; your hotbars will switch to pvp skills automatically when you're in PvP. Neither job levels nor item levels matter; everyone has equalised stats.

The three PvP modes are:
The Feast (4v4 team battlegrounds, queues are dead when it's not the beginning of a ranked season)
Frontline (24v24v24 largescale PvP with map objectives, casual and pops frequently during peak hours)
Rival Wings (MOBA-inspired mode, pops on the weekends and at other times when the community arranges events)

Best way is to start playing the moment the season starts. First 2 weeks is always best time to play. Otherwise Unranked will be dead and makes it harder to climb. Before trying make sure to read guides and maybe watch a few streams here and there. Going in Blind during an active season is not recommended.

its going to be hard.people are match fixing at off peak times to try not get caught.There's also people competing on multiple accounts on differnt data centres.And last most will grind to close to 2k points in first 2 weeks then stop playing bar on or 2 matches making the queus die down that its nearly impossible to climb.

basically you need to grind all of next week if you want a chance.

@slate granite it's possible, There are a few first timers that make it in the top 100. You need to dedicate time to it though right now is the best time to que since the season just started. As more and more people reach gold tier it will get harder for people to get games in unranked. Since Unranked players can only match with Silver and Bronze players.

The biggest hurdles for new players is learning how to play the game mode, or their jobs. But as you play and put time into it you will also grasp that as well.

you should set your Long term goal for Diamond right now if you can, and make Gold your short term goal

unfortunatly things like the matchmaking are out of your control.you wil get in situations where you could be a stack of new players versus vets starting feast season who ahvent played a while etc.sometimes the outcome of a match can really just come down to luck of the draw.especially at lower ranks.

Hey there, I've been thinking about starting to get into the feast, but I don't know were to start. I've only did front lines every now and then so I was thinking which will be the most convenient way to get it. Forming a team of new people and getting into training run? Going solo? Would I get veterans in my training? I assume you won't lose point in training matches, but you those couldn't as win/lose?

I've never really liked any PvP mode of an MMO, but there's usually some desired rewards that are locked behind them. so its a begrudging what sucks the least and what gets me them fastest. its just without mogtomes now, the only thing for rival wings is wins mount. which when you go about 4 and 12 with mogtomes, 2 and 6 isn't exactly a fun thought, frontlines at least has a daily boost to tomes/EXP

The PvP skills are a bit different than your normal ones. I'd go to the wolfs den to see what your skills are like, you can practice on a dummy and then just go in to a frontline roulette after reset. It can be fun. Stick with the group and do damage when you can

Monks shoulder tackle is pretty good, while Dragoon is just... y'know, ridiculously good with its jumps

So whats the deal with PVP? i'v read its absolutely horrid and that its also super fun

It is fun and has its die-hard fans, but it's also very much side content and not a main focus. Also Feast, the ranked 4v4 PvP battleground mode, is kinda awfully managed at the moment. As there's only slight rank decay each season, it's basically only played during like the first two weeks of a season in order for people to get back up to top 100, and then the queues die.

Frontline is 24v24v24 casual mode, Rival Wings is a 24v24 MOBA-esque mode.

Rival Wings is really well-liked but there's not much incentive to run it so the community basically arranges for there to be queues every weekend.

Also high rank players want matches. Rank decay would help slightly but the amount of low rank players crying over being “forced” to queue would be too damned high and they’re the ones that need it the most to force them to play early

They already complain about having to “no life” it which btw… you don’t. I’d say uwu and ucob take more “no lifing” lol. But that term is stupid

PvP in ffxiv is pretty weak IMO. if you are coming from WoW you will be disappointed for sure.

you cant really change team comps much, you cant repeat classes for arenas (feast)

no 3v3's only 4v4's

you have to have a tank a healer and a melee dps and either a mage or ranged phys dps

so the gameplay is super linear and theres no real comps meta like in WoW

PvP is fun the more you learn. As long as you accept that PvP (and FFXIV in general) is casual here but you enjoy the base competitive nature of PvP you'll enjoy it. Best thing is to join for the story and give PvP a fair shot to make your own opinion on it. Most that shit on it have very minimal experience or are salty from a previous experience.

the game isnt balanced around 1v1 tbh but if you mean FL then you naturally do less dmg per hit but you can constantly hit buttons for dmg while moving which is the main advantage of physical ranged

Rival wings will only happen during community or official events. Frontline will pop normally starting late afternoon to late evenings in NA, even more active on weekends. Should be less than 5 or 10 mins at most within this time.

hey guys, i touched feast a bit as bard and i am enjoying it.
so far i am using Concentrate and Foot Graze, it works out fine but i want to ask if there are better combinations

I like concentrate too, though i mainly just stick to frontline where big aoe hits are much jucier

my 2nd action depends on how good/bad matches have felt. Recuperate if i feel like im constantly being targeted, and swap between leg and foot graze if games feel nice

That's the best combo for feast

Bind status (foot graze) is powerful for making the burst target unable to hide behind walls
And to line your limit break properly
And to stop dashes and dragoon jumps

concentrate makes apex arrow hit like a truck in a burst

From my experience it greatly depends on how aggressive the enemy is.

Repose is probably your best all-purpose skill since it can be used for saving others/you and setting up for a kill

Rescue is good for saving people who tend to overextend

Attunement sounds nice, but half the time I usually just die when it ends.

So I guess for general purpose you’d do Repose and Largesse or Protect?

2nd one depends on how good the enemy is at doing burst damage

Note all of my PVP experience is from frontlines and not feast

you need kill ones that have more medals

if you kill the same person over and over you get less medals

feast isnt just as about kills

ther's a lot of straegy with burst and targets and cc

main reason most feast games are lot is because people killing wrong targets or feeding when healer is silenced or sleeped

Thst still irrelevant.people have like 3 characters on different data centres.which means they are getting 3 rewards.That means they are denying 2 rewards.There is only 100 per data centre.Look eu for example.2 data centres.200 prizes potentially for 200 people.But because there are smurf its more like 160 single prizes to players and the remaning 40 are 20 people getting the prize twice.A player should be given the prize once and not have their placing on the alt account count for another prize.instead give it the person in 101 place etc
